Claims
- 1. A thiazolidine derivative of the general formula: ##STR79## wherein R.sup.1 is pyridyl or thiazolyl; R.sup.2 means a bond or a lower alkylene group; L.sup.1 and L.sup.2 are the same or different and each is hydrogen, lower alkyl or L.sup.1 and L.sup.2 are combined to form an alkylene group.
- 2. A thiazolidine derivative as claimed in claim 1, wherein L.sup.1 and L.sup.2 are combined to form an alkylene group having 2 to 6 carbon atoms.
- 3. A thiazolidine derivative as claimed in claim 1, wherein R.sup.2 is a lower alkylene groups having 1 to 3 carbon atoms.
- 4. A thiazolidine derivative as claimed in claim 1, wherein L.sup.1 and L.sup.2 are combined to form an alkylene group having 2 to 6 carbon atoms and R.sup.2 is a lower alkylene group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms.
- 5. A hypolipidemic and hypoglycemic pharmaceutical composition, which comprises, as active ingredient, the effective amount of a thiazolidine derivative defined in claim 1.
- 6. A compound as claimed in claim 1, wherein the compound is 5-[4-{2-(3-pyridyl)ethoxy}benzyl]thiazolidine-2,4-dione.
- 7. A compound as claimed in claim 1, wherein the compound is 5-[4-{2-(2-pyridyl)ethoxy}-benzyl]thiazolidine-2,4-dione.
