Claims
- 1. A thread, suitable for use as a sewing thread and having increased tenacity and reduced thermal shrinkage properties, said thread comprising:
- at least one synthetic, oriented, multifilament core yarn formed from a pre-oriented yarn having a titer of between about 100 dtex and about 1000 dtex which has been turned around an unheated pin of less than 10 mm diameter, heated to a temperature of between 100.degree. C. and 250.degree. C. for from 0.01 to 10 seconds and drawn with a drawing ratio equal to or greater than a normal drawing ratio specified for the material of the yarn; and
- at least one effect yarn intermingled with said core yarn to form a core-jacket thread having loops, not more than 15% of said loops being drawn tight in a knot-like manner.
- 2. The thread according to claim 1, characterized in that not more than 5% of said loops being drawn tight in a knot-like manner.
- 3. The thread according to claim 1, characterized in that it comprises up to four multifilament core yarns and up to four multifiliament effect yarns.
- 4. The thread according to claim 1, characterized in that the effect yarn has a number of elementary strands which corresponds to about half of the number of elementary strands of the core yarn.
- 5. The thread according to claim 4, characterized in that the core yarn has a number of elementary strands of between 20 and 500.
- 6. The thread according to claim 5, characterized in that the core yarn has a number of elementary strands of between 30 and 150.
- 7. The thread according to claim 1, characterized in that the core yarn has a number of elementary strands of between 20 and 500.
- 8. The thread according to claim 7, characterized in that the core yarn has a number of elementary strands of between 30 and 150.
- 9. The thread according to claim 1, characterized in that it is twisted and has between 100 twists/ and 600 twists/m.
- 10. The thread according to claim 1, characterized in that the core yarn has a titer of between 100 dtex and 600 dtex.
- 11. The thread according to claim 10, characterized in that the titer of the effect yarn is from about 15% up to about 40% of the titer of the core yarn.
- 12. The thread according to claim 1, characterized in that the titer of the effect yarn is from about 15% up to about 40% of the titer of the core yarn.
- 13. The thread according to claim 1, characterized in that the thread has a thermal shrinkage at 180.degree. C. of between 2% and 4% and a boiling shrinkage in water of between 2% and 4%.
- 14. The thread according to claim 1, characterized in that the core yarn has an original titer of 285 dtex prior to drawing, a titer of between 162.8 and 123.9 dtex after drawing, and a number of elementary strands equal to 32, and that the specific strength of the core yarn varies between 41.06 cN/tex and 67.12 cN/tex.
- 15. The thread according to claim 1, characterized in that the core yarn has an original titer of 410 dtex prior to drawing, a titer of between 221.6 and 165.6 dtex after drawing, and a number of elementary strands equal to 40, and that the specific strength of the core yarn varies between 38.23 cN/tex and 68.81 cN/tex.
- 16. The thread according to claim 1, characterized in that the core yarn is drawn with a drawing ratio which is between 5% and 50% greater than the normal drawing ratio specified for the material of the yarn and which is between 5% and 25% below a value at which the yarn breaks.
- 17. The thread according to claim 16, characterized in that the core yarn is drawn with a drawing ratio which is between 1:2.0 and 1:2.3.
