Claims
- 1. An entryway system comprising a threshold assembly having ends, a jamb boot attached to each of said ends of said threshold assembly, a pair of jambs each having top and bottom ends, each jamb resting at its bottom end on a respective one of said jamb boots, a head jamb spanning said top ends of said jambs to form an entryway frame, and a door mounted in said entryway frame.
- 2. An entryway system as claimed in claim 1 and wherein each of said jamb boots is made of a deterioration resistant material.
- 3. An entryway system as claimed in claim 1 and wherein each of said jamb boots projects upwardly from said threshold assembly to an upper surface, said jamb bottoms resting on said upper surfaces of said jamb boots.
- 4. An entryway system as claimed in claim 1 and wherein each of said jamb boots includes a jamb plate that rests on a subfloor on which said entryway system is installed, said jamb bottoms resting on said jamb plates.
- 5. An entryway system as claimed in claim 4 and wherein said jamb plates are formed with reservoirs beneath for collecting water and a weep hole for directing collected water away from said entryway system.
- 6. An entryway system as claimed in claim 1 and wherein said threshold assembly is formed with a channel at each of its ends and wherein each of said jamb boots is formed with at least one attachment and support block disposed in said channel thereby attaching said jamb boot to said threshold assembly.
- 7. An entryway system as claimed in claim 6 and wherein said attachment and support block is held in said channel with a friction fit.
- 8. An entryway system as claimed in claim 6 and wherein said attachment and support block is held in said channel with an adhesive.
- 9. An entryway system as claimed in claim 8 and wherein said adhesive is a silicone sealant.
- 10. An entryway system as claimed in claim 1 and further comprising a drain channel formed in each of said jamb boots for receiving water from selected portions of said threshold assembly and directing the water away from said entryway system.
- 11. An entryway system as claimed in claim 1 and further comprising a mull boot attached to said threshold assembly and a mull post having a bottom end resting on said mull boot and extending upwardly to said head jamb.
- 12. A threshold assembly comprising:
an elongated frame having ends; an upwardly open channel extending between said ends; a sill extending outwardly and sloping downwardly from said upwardly open channel to a forward edge; a threshold cap disposed in said upwardly open channel; a first jamb boot attached to one end of said elongated frame and having an upper surface for receiving and being attached to the bottom end of a first vertical jamb; and a second jamb boot attached to the other end of said elongated frame and having an upper surface for receiving and being attached to the bottom end of a second vertical jamb.
- 13. A threshold assembly as claimed in claim 12 and further comprising a mull post boot attached to said elongated frame intermediate its ends and having an upper surface for receiving and being attached to the bottom end of a mull post.
- 14. A threshold assembly as claimed in claim 12 and wherein said framed is formed with at least one channel along its bottom side and wherein said jamb boots include attachment and support blocks that extend into said channel at the ends of said frame for attaching said jamb boots to said frame.
- 15. A threshold assembly as claimed in claim 14 and wherein said attachment and support blocks are formed with friction lock tabs that bear against said channel for holding said jamb boots in place with a friction fit.
- 16. A threshold assembly as claimed in claim 15 and wherein said attachment and support blocks are formed with adhesive injection ports for injecting adhesive between said channel and said attachment and support blocks to fix said support blocks in said channels.
- 17. A threshold assembly as claimed in claim 12 and wherein said jamb boots project upwardly from said threshold assembly to said upper surfaces and wherein said upper surfaces are at least partially level for receiving and being attached to a square-cut bottom end of a vertical jamb.
- 18. A threshold assembly as claimed in claim 17 and further comprising alignment nibs formed on said jamb boots for aligning the bottom ends of said jambs with said jamb boots prior to attaching said jambs to said jamb boots.
- 19. A threshold assembly as claimed in claim 18 and further comprising caulking grooves formed in said upper surfaces of said jamb boots.
- 20. A threshold assembly as claimed in claim 12 and further comprising a drain channel formed in each of said jamb boots, each drain channel for receiving water from said upwardly open channel and directing the water toward away from said threshold assembly for drainage.
