Claims
- 1. (original) A device for removing thrombus or other tissue from an occluded or obstructed biological or synthetic body vessel comprising:
a. a tubular member having a proximal end and a distal end, having a first passage and a secong passage extended along the length thereof, each passage with a proximal and distant end; b. the first passage comprising tubular means for carrying high pressure fluid from the proximal end to the distal end; c. the second passage comprising tubular means for carrying fluid and emulsified tissue from the distal end to the proximal end; d. one or more fluid jets emanating from the distal end of the first passage impinges on the open distal end of the second passage, said fluid jet(s) providing stagnation pressure to drive the flow or emulsified tissue from the distal end of the second passage towards the proximal end of the second passage; e. the proximal end of the first passage is connected to a high pressure fluid source; and, f. the opening proximal end of the second passage provides removal of the tissue fragments from the body.
- 79. (new) A method for breaking apart and removing thrombus or other tissue or other material from an occluded or obstracted biological or synthetic body vessel or cavity comprising the steps of:
a. introduction of a device for removing thrombus or other material comprising a tubular member with a first passage and a second passage and one or more high velocity fluid jets which emanate from orifices in the distal portion of said first passage and bringing said tubular member to the location of the thrombus or other material; b. providing pressurized fluid to supply said fluid jets emanating from said tubular member via said first passage therein; c. using said fluid jets emanating from said tubular member to attract the trombus or other material towards said second passage of said tubular member by the localized area of low pressure created by the high velocity of the jets; and, d. removing some of the thrombus or other material from the vessel by passage along said second passage.
- 80. (new) A method for breaking apart and removing thrombus or other tissue or other material from an occluded or obstructed byological or synthetic body vessel or cavity comprising the steps of:
a. introduction of a device for removing thrombus or other material comprising a tubular member with a first passage and a second passage and one or more fluid jets which emanate from orifices in the distal portion of said first passage and at least one of said fluid jets is directed towards the proximal portion of said second passage, and bringing said tubular member to the location of the thrombus or other material; b. providing pressurized fluid to supply said fluid jets emanating from said tubular member via said first passage therein; and, c. using said at least one of said fluid jets directed towards the proximal portion of said second passage to help drive the thrombus or other material along said second passage towards said proximal portion of said second passage of said tubular member and thereby remove the thrombus or other material from the body vessel or cavity.
- 81. (new) A method for breaking apart and removing thrombus or other tissue or other material from an occluded or obstructed biological or synthetic body vessel or cavity comprising the steps of:
a. introduction of a device for removing thrombus or other material comprising a tubular member with a first passage and a second passage and one or more fluid jets which emanate from orifices in the distal portion of said first passage and at least one of said fluid jets is directed towards said second passage, and bringing said tubular member to the location of the thrombus or other material; b. providing pressurized fluid to supply said fluid jets emanating from said tubular member via said first passage therein; c. using said fluid jets emanating from said tubular member to break up the thrombus or other material; and, d. removing some of the thrombus or other material from the vessel by passage along said second passage of said tubular member.
- 82. (new) A method for breaking apart and removing thrombus or other tissue or other material from an occluded or obstructed biological or synthetic body vessel or cavity comprising the steps of:
a. introduction of a device for removing thrombus or other material comprising a tubular member with a first passage and a second passage and one or more fluid jets which emanate from orifices in the distal portion of said first passage and at least one of said fluid jets is directed towards said second passage, and bringing said tubular member to the location of the thrombus or pther material; b. providing pressurized fluid at greater than 1000 psi to supply said fluid jets emanating from said tubular member via said first passage therein; c. using said fluid jets emanating from said tubular member to break up the thrombus or other material; and, d. removing some of the thrombus or other material from the vessel passage along said passage of said tubular member.
