Claims
- 1. An article of manufacture, comprising:
a) a polymer, and d) a digitally encoded image made with ink, wherein said polymer forms a lens, and wherein said digitally encoded image is made using a bonding agent.
- 2. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said digitally encoded image comprises a single color or a multi-colored image.
- 3. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said digitally encoded image is transparent, opaque or partially opaque.
- 4. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said polymer comprises a hydrogel.
- 5. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said lens is a soft lens, a hard lens or a hybrid lens.
- 6. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said lens comprises between about 0% percent and about 80% percent water.
- 7. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said lens is permeable to oxygen.
- 8. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said polymer is hydrophobic or hydrophilic.
- 9. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said polymer is selected from the group consisting of acrylics, silicones and polycarbonates.
- 10. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said lens is a contact lens.
- 11. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said digitally encoded image is applied to said polymer by printing.
- 12. The article of manufacture of claim 11, wherein said printing is ink-jet printing.
- 13. The article of manufacture of claim 12, wherein said ink-jet printing uses piezo printing.
- 14. The article of manufacture of claim 12, wherein said ink-jet printing is thermal printing.
- 15. The article of manufacture of claim 11, wherein said printing is pad-transfer printing.
- 16. The article of manufacture of claim 11, wherein said printing is through impregnation.
- 17. The article of manufacture of claim 11, wherein said printing is photolithography.
- 18. The article of manufacture of claim 11, wherein said printing is laser printing.
- 19. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said digitally encoded image is on at least one surface of said polymer.
- 20. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said digitally encoded image is within said polymer.
- 21. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said ink comprises at least one dye, vat dye, particle, pigment, reactive dye or diazo dye.
- 22. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said ink comprises water or a solvent.
- 23. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said bonding agent comprises an isocyanate compound.
- 24. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said bonding agent comprises hexamethyl diisocyante.
- 25. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said bonding agent comprises an aziridine.
- 26. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said bonding agent comprises a polyfunctional aziridine.
- 27. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said bonding agent comprises a carbodiimide.
- 28. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said bonding agent comprises a multifunctional carbodiimide.
- 29. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said bonding agent comprises an organic titanate.
- 30. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said bonding agent comprises a zirconate.
- 31. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said ink comprises a monomer, polymer, homopolymer, heteropolymer or copolymer.
- 32. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said ink comprises an initiator.
- 33. The article of manufacture of claim 32, wherein said initiator is a UV initiator.
- 34. The article of manufacture of claim 32, wherein said initiator is a thermal initiator.
- 35. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said ink comprises a solvent.
- 36. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said ink comprises a dispersant.
- 37. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said ink comprises an anti-bacterial agent.
- 38. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said ink comp rises an anti-fungal agent.
- 39. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said ink comprises a disinfectant and/or a humectant.
- 40. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said digitally encoded image is entrapped within said polymer.
- 41. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said digitally encoded image forms a chemical bond, self-adhesion bond, or polymer-polymer bond with said polymer.
- 42. The article of manufacture of claim 1, wherein said digitally encoded image comprises a at least one pattern or at least one color.
- 43. The article of manufacture of claim 42, wherein said at least one image comprises an image of an iris of an eye.
- 44. The article of manufacture of claim 42, wherein said at least one image is derived from at least one color.
- 45. The article of manufacture of claim 42, wherein said at least one image is derived from at least two separate colors or a mixture thereof.
- 46. The article of manufacture of claim 42, wherein said at least one image is derived from at least three separate colors or a mixture thereof.
- 47. The article of manufacture of claim 42, wherein said at least one image is derived from at least four separate colors or a mixture thereof.
- 48. An article of manufacture, comprising:
a) a polymer, and b) a digitally encoded image made with ink, wherein said polymer forms a lens, and wherein said ink comprises a bonding agent.
- 49. The article of manufacture of claim 48, wherein said digitally encoded image comprises a single color or a multi-colored image.
- 50. The article of manufacture of claim 48, wherein said digitally encoded image is transparent, opaque or partially opaque.
