Claims
- 1. In a tire repair apparatus for repairing and sealing a puncture of a tire of the type wherein a resilient plug is forcibly inserted into said puncture the improvement comprising:
- (a) a labyrinth of closely spaced arcuate sealing rings with concentric circumferential grooves therebetween axially disposed along the periphery of the plug; and
- (b) a folded metal wire insert having contiguous straight segment portions interiorally bonded to the plug and an adjoining loop portion projecting outwardly from one end of the plug for receiving a hook end portion of a tool adapted to forcibly insert the plug into a puncture of a tire.
- 2. Tire repair apparatus for repairing and sealing a puncture of a tire comprising:
- (a) a generally cylindrical resilient plug, said plug having a plurality of circumferential spaced apart sealing rings disposed centrally about the axis of the plug and arcuate grooves therebetween for sealing a puncture of a tubeless tire;
- (b) a wire insert having one portion interiorly bonded to the plug and an adjoining loop end portion disposed outwardly from the end portion of the plug which is opposite the head portion for receiving a hook end portion of a tool which is adapted for forcibly inserting the plug into a puncture of a tire; and
- (c) a tool having a hook end portion adapted to engage said insert loop portion for forcibly inserting the plug into a puncture of a tire.
- 3. The tire repair apparatus according to claim 2 wherein the other end portion of the resilient plug is a circular head portion which is concentric with the other plug portion for conforming in sealing relationship to the surface of said tire adjacent to said puncture.
- 4. The tire repair apparatus according to claim 3 further comprising an integral thin circular sealing ring portion having intersecting upper and lower faces on the periphery of the circular head portion for additionally sealing said head portion to the surface of said tire.
- 5. The tire repair apparatus according to claim 2 wherein said tool has a cylindrical handle portion and an adjoining slender shank portion having said hook end portion for engaging said insert loop portion which projects outwardly from the end portion of the plug for forcibly inserting the plug into the puncture.
- 6. Tire repair apparatus for repairing and sealing a puncture of a tire comprising:
- (a) generally cylindrical resilient plug having a labyrinth of closely spaced apart arcuate sealing rings on the periphery thereof with circumferential grooves therebetween for locally conforming in sealing relationship to the puncture of a tire and a circular head portion at the other end thereof for conforming in sealing relationship to the surface of the tire, said head portion having a thin outer portion with intersecting upper and lower circular faces for additionally sealing said head portion to the surface of a tire;
- (b) a folded metal wire insert having contiguous straight segment portions interiorally bonded to the plug and an adjoining loop portion projecting outwardly from one end of the plug for receiving a hook end portion of a tool; and
- (c) a tool having a cylindrical handle portion and an adjoining slender shank portion with a hook end portion for engaging the loop end portion of said folded metal wire insert to forcibly insert the plug into the puncture of a tire.
