Claims
- 1. Device for the release and administration of nicotine in gaseous form, comprising receiving means (10, 30) which has a receiving space (11, 31) provided therein with an inlet and an outlet (12, 36) and in which a matrix containing the nicotine is insertable, and a mouthpiece (19, 32) communicating with the outlet (12, 36) of said receiving space, characterized by a heating element (14; 40; 48, 49, 50) associated with said receiving space (11, 31), said heating element being adapted to produce heat in said space (11, 31), said heating element itself or subsidiary temperature control means (17; 41) being selected or provided for restricting the temperature in the receiving space (11, 31) to a predetermined value below the combustion temperature of the matrix, said device being completely self-contained and having no external electrical connection, characterized in that the heating element (40) consists of a heating coil connectible to a battery (39) contained therein and disposed in a wall defining the receiving space (31).
- 2. Device for the release and administration of nicotine in gaseous form, comprising receiving means (10, 30) which has a receiving space (11, 31) provided therein with an inlet and an outlet (12, 36) and in which a matrix containing the nicotine is insertable, and a mouthpiece (19, 32) communicating with the outlet (12, 36) of said receiving space, characterized by a heating element (14; 40; 48, 49, 50) associated with said receiving space (11, 31), said heating element being adapted to produce heat in said space (11,31), said heating element itself or subsidiary temperature control means (17; 41) being selected or provided for restricting the temperature in the receiving space (11, 31) to a predetermined value below the combustion temperature of the matrix, said device being completely self-contained and having no external electrical connection, characterized in that the heating element (46, 47) consists of a gas burner with an igniter (47) which is adapted to ignite gas flowing from a gas space (42) through a control valve (46) to a channel (43) communicating with the ambient atmosphere and containing a gas-pereable material (48) and adjoining the receiving space (31).
- 3. Device as claimed in claim 2, characterized in that the gas-permeable material (48) consists of a catalytic combustion matrix.
- 4. Device as claimed in claim 2, characterized in that the gas-permeable material (48) consists of mineral wool.
- 5. Device as claimed in claim 2, characterized in that the control valve (46) between the gas space (42) and the channel (43) constitutes the temperature restricting means.
- 6. Device for the release and administration of nicotine in gaseous form, comprising receiving means (10, 30) which has a receiving space (11, 31) provided therein with an inlet and an outlet (12, 36) and in which a matrix containing the nicotine is insertable, and a mouthpiece (19, 32) communicating with the outlet (12, 36) of said receiving space, characterized by a heating element (14; 40; 48, 49, 50) associated with said receiving space (11, 31), said heating element being adapted to produce heat in said space (11,31), said heating element itself or subsidiary temperature control means (17; 41) being selected or provided for restricting the temperature in the receiving space (11, 31) to a predetermined value below the combustion temperature of the matrix, said device being completely self-contained and having no external electrical connection, characterized in that the heating element consists of a container holding two fluids (49, 50) separated by a rupturable partition (51) and selected from the group of fluids which produce heat when mixed.
- 7. Device as claimed in claim 6, characterized in that the fluids (49, 50) consist of lithium chloride and water.
- 8. Device as claimed in claim 6, characterized in that the temperature restricting means consists of a temperature sensor (41) connected to the battery (39).
- 9. Device as claimed in claim 6, characterized in that the ratio between the fluid volumes constitutes the temperature restricting means.
