Claims
- 1. A method of treating metallic surfaces for corrosion inhibition, comprising the steps of:a. introducing tobacco into a solution selected from the group consisting of alkaline media and basic media; b. extracting tobacco residue from the tobacco in solution; c. recirculating the solution during the extraction step; and d. applying the tobacco residue extracted in accordance with step “b” to the metallic surface.
- 2. A method of treating metallic surfaces for corrosion inhibition, comprising the steps of:a. introducing tobacco into a solution selected from the group consisting of alkaline media and basic media; b. extracting tobacco residue from the tobacco in solution, the extracting being a static extraction followed by a dynamic extraction; and c. applying the tobacco residue extracted in accordance with step “b” to the metallic surface.
- 3. A method of treating metallic surfaces for corrosion inhibition, comprising the steps of:a. introducing tobacco into a solution selected from the group consisting of alkaline media and basic media; b. extracting tobacco residue from the tobacco in solution; c. combining the tobacco residue with a medium for treating metallic surfaces, wherein the medium for treating metallic surfaces is water for combination with cementitious substances to inhibit corrosion on reinforcing rods and metal structures; and d. applying the tobacco residue and the medium to the metallic surface.
- 4. A method of treating metallic surfaces for corrosion inhibition, comprising the steps of:a. introducing tobacco into a solution selected from the group consisting of alkaline media and basic media; b. extracting tobacco residue from the tobacco in solution; c. combining the tobacco residue with a medium for treating metallic surfaces, wherein the medium for treating metallic surfaces is a de-icing agent; and d. applying the tobacco residue and the medium to the metallic surface.
- 5. A method of treating metallic surfaces for corrosion inhibition, comprising the steps of:a. introducing tobacco into a solution selected from the group consisting of alkaline media and basic media; b. extracting tobacco residue from the tobacco in solution; c. combining the tobacco residue with a medium for treating metallic surfaces, wherein the medium for treating metallic surfaces is a metal machining fluid; and d. applying the tobacco residue and the medium to the metallic surface.
- 6. A method of treating metallic surfaces for corrosion inhibition, comprising the steps of:a. introducing tobacco into a steam environment; b. agitating the tobacco in the steam environment; c. extracting tobacco residue from the tobacco in the steam environment; and d. applying the tobacco residue extracted in accordance with step “c” to the metallic surface.
- 7. A method of treating metallic surfaces for corrosion inhibition, comprising the steps of:a. introducing tobacco into a steam environment; b. extracting tobacco residue from the tobacco in the steam environment; c. recirculating the steam during the extraction step; and d. applying the tobacco residue extracted in accordance with step “b” to the metallic surface.
- 8. A method of treating metallic surfaces for corrosion inhibition, comprising the steps of:a. introducing tobacco into a steam environment; b. extracting tobacco residue from the tobacco in the steam environment; c. removing solid tobacco residue from the steam environment; and d. applying the tobacco residue extracted in accordance with step “b” to the metallic surface.
- 9. A method of treating metallic surfaces for corrosion inhibition, comprising the steps of:a. introducing tobacco into a steam environment; b. extracting tobacco residue from the tobacco in the steam environment; c. combining the tobacco residue with a medium for treating metallic surfaces, wherein the medium for treating metallic surfaces is water for combination with cementitious substances to inhibit corrosion on reinforcing rods and metal structures; and d. applying the tobacco residue and the medium to the metallic surface.
- 10. A method of treating metallic surfaces for corrosion inhibition, comprising the steps of:a. introducing tobacco into a steam environment; b. extracting tobacco residue from the tobacco in the steam environment; c. combining the tobacco residue with a medium for treating metallic surfaces, wherein the medium for treating metallic surfaces is a de-icing agent; and d. applying the tobacco residue and the medium to the metallic surface.
- 11. A method of treating metallic surfaces for corrosion inhibition, comprising the steps of:a. introducing tobacco into a steam environment; b. extracting tobacco residue from the tobacco in the steam environment; c. combining the tobacco residue with a medium for treating metallic surfaces, wherein the medium for treating metallic surfaces is a metal machining fluid; and d. applying the tobacco residue and the medium to the metallic surface.
