Abstract
The toilet lid cover includes a front panel and a rear panel made of a paper material and having an outer edge. A portion of the outer edges of the rear panel and the front panel are coupled together so that a separated portion at a bottom end of the outer edges defines an entrance to a pocket defined in between the front panel and the rear panel. The toilet lid cover is configured to fit over a toilet lid so that the toilet lid is disposed within the pocket.
Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to restroom sanitation and, more particularly, to a toilet lid cover that protects a toilet lid when flushing the toilet.

The current toilet provides no protection to prevent bacteria and other germs from being sprayed onto the toilet seat lid or into the atmosphere when the toilet is flushed.

As can be seen, there is a need for a cover that protects a toilet seat lid from bacteria and other germs when the toilet is flushed.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In one aspect of the present invention, a toilet lid cover comprises: a front panel comprising an outer edge and having an elongated half oval shape; a rear panel comprising an outer edge and having a half oval shape, wherein the front panel and the rear panel are made of a paper material, a portion of the outer edges of the rear panel and the front panel are coupled together so that a separated portion at a bottom end of the outer edges defines an entrance to a pocket defined in between the front panel and the rear panel, and the toilet lid cover is configured to fit over a toilet lid so that the toilet lid is disposed within the pocket.

In another aspect of the present invention, a method of protecting a toilet lid of a toilet comprises: providing a toilet lid cover comprising: a front panel comprising an outer edge; a rear panel comprising an outer edge, wherein the front panel and the rear panel are made of a paper material, and a portion of the outer edges of the rear panel and the front panel are coupled together so that a separated portion of a bottom end of the outer edges defines an entrance to a pocket defined in between the front panel and the rear panel; inserting the toilet lid into the pocket through the entrance of the toilet lid cover; closing the toilet lid onto a toilet seat of the toilet; and flushing the toilet.

These and other features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings, description and claims.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.

Referring to FIGS. 1 through 5, the present invention includes a toilet lid cover 10. The toilet lid cover 10 includes a front panel 12 and a rear panel 16 made of a paper material and having an outer edge. A portion of the outer edges of the rear panel 16 and the front panel 12 are coupled together so that a separated portion at a bottom end of the outer edges defines an entrance to a pocket 20 defined in between the front panel 12 and the rear panel 16. The toilet lid cover 10 is configured to fit over a toilet lid 26 so that the toilet lid 26 is disposed within the pocket 20.

The front panel 12 and the rear panel 16 may be shaped to fit over a toilet lid 26. For example, the front panel 12 may include an elongated half oval shape with a squared bottom and the rear panel 16 may include a half oval shape. In such embodiments, a distance from the top end to a bottom end of the rear panel 16 is at least half or less of a distance from the top end to a bottom end of the front panel 12. The dimensions may include approximately 16 inches wide by approximately 20 inches long.

The present invention may further include a tab 14, 18 extending from a top end of the toilet lid cover 10. For example, a front panel tab 14 extends from a top end of the front panel 12 and a rear panel tab 18 extends from a top end of the rear panel 16. The front panel and rear panel tabs 14, 18 may be adhered together. The tab 14, 18 may be used to pull the toilet lid cover 10 off of the toilet lid 26.

The front panel 12 and the rear panel 16 may be sealed together via a heat seal, an adhesive, and the like. The paper material of the present invention may dissolve in water. Therefore, the toilet lid cover 10 may be flushable in a toilet 24. In certain embodiments, the material is infused with a scent and a disinfectant to remove odor and kill germs.

A method of protecting a toilet lid 26 of a toilet 24 may include the following steps: providing the toilet lid cover 10 described above; inserting the toilet lid 26 into the pocket 20 through the entrance of the toilet lid cover 10; closing the toilet lid 26 onto a toilet seat of the toilet; flushing the toilet 24; opening the toilet lid 26; removing the toilet lid cover 10 from the toilet lid via the tab 14, 18; and placing the toilet lid cover 10 into the toilet 24. The front panel 12 may face forward towards the toilet bowl. In certain embodiments, the present invention may include a receptacle 22 storing a plurality of toilet lid covers 10. The receptacle 22 may include a plastic or cardboard box with an opening. A double-sided tape or other adhesive may adhere the receptacle 22 to the water tank of the toilet 24 or a bathroom wall. In such embodiments, the method may further include the step of removing a toilet lid cover 10 from the receptacle 22 prior to inserting the toilet lid 26 into the pocket 20. By performing the method, the present invention prevents bacteria and other germs from spraying out of the toilet 24 onto the toilet lid 26 or into the restroom.

It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing relates to exemplary embodiments of the invention and that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the following claims.
