The disclosure relates to seat devices and more particularly pertains to a new seat device for spreading a user's buttocks when the user sits on a toilet to defecate.
The prior art relates to seat devices including a variety of toilet seats that have a concave profile for enhancing comfort for a user. The prior art also discloses a toilet seat that has a concave profile and a toilet lid that conforms to the concave profile of the toilet seat.
An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a seat that is positionable on a toilet bowl for having a user sit thereon. The seat has a concave profile to spread the user's buttocks when the user sits on the seat for enhancing sanitary conditions for the user when the user defecates. A back rest is attachable to a tank of the toilet to support the user's back when the user sits on the seat. An arm is pivotally coupled to the back rest and a cover is pivotally coupled to the arm. The cover is positionable in a deployed position having the cover lying on the seat. Additionally, the cover is positionable in a stored position having the cover resting against the back rest.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
As best illustrated in
The seat 12 has a first end 19, a second end 20, a top surface 22 and a bottom surface 24. The seat 12 has a curved portion 26 extending between a pair of straight portions 28. Additionally, the curved portion 26 is centrally positioned between the first end 19 and the second end 20 having the first end 19 being spaced from the second end 20 such that the seat 12 has a U shape. The seat 12 has an inner edge 30 defining a slot 32 extending between the straight portions 28. The inner edge 30 has a rounded section 34 defining a hole 36 that is aligned with the curved portion 26 to accommodate feces when the user 17 sits on the seat 12 to defecate. Additionally, the top surface 22 is concavely arcuate with respect to the bottom surface 24.
The bottom surface 24 has a pair of ridges 38 each extending downwardly therefrom and each of the ridges 38 is positioned on a respective one of the straight portions 28. Each of the ridges 38 extends from the inner edge 30 toward the curved portion 26 of the seat 12. Moreover, each of the ridges 38 curves outwardly from the slot 32 such that each of the ridges 38 defines an ovoid shape. The bottom surface 24 has a prominence 40 extending downwardly therefrom and the prominence 40 extends around the slot 32. The prominence 40 has an outer edge 42 that is spaced from each of the ridges 38 thereby defining a bowl space 44 between the prominence 40 and the ridges 38. Thus, the bowl space 44 receives a top edge 46 of the toilet bowl 14 thereby inhibiting the seat 12 from sliding on the toilet bowl 14.
A back rest 48 is provided that is attachable to a tank 50 of the toilet 16 to support the user's back 51 when the user 17 sits on the seat 12. The back rest 48 has a front surface 52, a back surface 54 and an outer edge 56 extending therebetween, and the outer edge 56 of the back rest 48 has a bottom side 58, a top side 60, a first lateral side 62 and a second lateral side 64. Each of the first lateral side 62 and the second lateral side 64 curves inwardly at a point located adjacent to the bottom side 58. Additionally, each of the first lateral side 62 and the second lateral side 64 curves outwardly at a point located adjacent to the top side 60 to define a pair of wings 66 on the back rest 48. The top side 60 curves upwardly at a center of the top side 60. As is most clearly shown in
The back rest 48 has an opening 68 extending through the front surface 52 and the back surface 54, and the opening 68 is centrally positioned on the back rest 48. The opening 68 is elongated to extend substantially between the bottom side 58 and the top side 60. The opening 68 has a lower bounding edge 70 and an upper bounding edge 72, and the lower bounding edge 70 extends along a line that is oriented parallel to the bottom side 58. Additionally, the upper bounding edge 72 is concavely arcuate with respect to the lower bounding edge 70.
An arm 74 is provided that is pivotally coupled to the back rest 48. The arm 74 has a first portion 76 that is pivotally coupled to a second portion 78. The first portion 76 has a free end 80 and the second portion 78 has a free end 81. The free end 80 of the first portion 76 is pivotally coupled to the lower bounding edge 70 of the opening 68 in the back rest 48. A cover 82 is pivotally coupled to the arm 74 and the cover 82 is positionable in a deployed position having the cover 82 lying on the seat 12. The cover 82 is positionable in a stored position having the cover 82 resting against the back rest 48.
The cover 82 has a first surface 84 and an outside edge 86, and the outside edge 86 has a forward side 88 and a rearward side 90. The forward side 88 is straight and the rearward side 90 is rounded. The free end 81 of the second portion 78 of the arm 74 is pivotally coupled to the rearward side 90 of the outside edge 86. The first surface 84 rests on the top surface 22 of the seat 12 having the cover 82 covering the slot 32 in the seat 12 when the cover 82 is positioned in the deployed position. The first surface 84 rests against the front surface 52 of the back rest 48 having the cover 82 covering the opening 68 in the back rest 48 and having the arm 74 being folded into the opening 68 when the cover 82 is positioned in the stored position. As is most clearly shown in
In use, the seat 12 is placed on the toilet bowl 14 such that the top edge 46 of the toilet bowl 14 is positioned in the bowl space 44. In this way the seat 12 is secured to the toilet bowl 14 thereby ensuring the seat 12 does not move or displace when the user 17 sits on the seat 12. Moreover, the concave top surface 22 of the seat 12 not only enhances blood flow in the user's legs 92 when the user 17 sits on the seat 12, the seat 12 also spreads the user's buttocks 18 to enhance cleanliness when the user 17 defecates. The cover 82 can be positioned in the deployed position when the toilet 16 is not being employed and the cover 82 can be positioned in the stored position to facilitate the toilet 16 to be employed.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
