Claims
- 1. A liquid jet recording method of recording on a recording material with liquid droplets discharged through plural nozzles disposed in a width in a sub-scan direction, comprising the steps of:performing a first main scan operation by performing relative movement between the nozzles and the recording material and recording a plurality of pixels using a number of ink droplets ejected by a first nozzle corresponding to respective tone signals; performing a sub-scan operation by performing relative movement between the nozzles and the recording material in said sub-scan direction, said sub-scan operation effecting relative movement between the nozzles and the recording material by a distance smaller than the width; and performing a second main scan operation by performing relative movement between the nozzles and the recording material and recording a plurality of pixels using a number of ink droplets by a second nozzle corresponding to respective tone signals, wherein a plurality of pixels having plural tonal levels are formed on the recording material, and at least one of the plurality of pixels is formed by one ink droplet and others of the plurality of pixels are formed by plural ink droplets of a same color and a same nominal volume but different actual volumes.
- 2. A method according to claim 1, wherein thermal energy is used to cause a state change in the ink to discharge ink droplets through a nozzle.
- 3. A liquid jet recording method of recording on a recording material with liquid droplets discharged through plural nozzles disposed in a width in a sub-scan direction, comprising the steps of:performing a first main scan operation by performing relative movement between the nozzles and the recording material and recording a plurality of pixels using a number of ink droplets ejected by a first nozzle corresponding to respective tone signals; performing a sub-scan operation by performing relative movement between the nozzles and the recording material in said sub-scan direction, said sub-scan operation effecting relative movement between the nozzles and the recording material by a distance smaller than the width; and performing a second main scan operation by performing relative movement between the nozzles and the recording material and recording a plurality of pixels using a number of ink droplets by a second nozzle corresponding to respective tone signals, wherein a plurality of pixels having plural tonal levels are formed on the recording material, at least one of the plurality of pixels is formed by one ink droplet and others of the plurality of pixels are formed by plural ink droplets of a same color and a same nominal size but different actual sizes.
- 4. A method according to claim 3, wherein thermal energy is used to cause a state change in the ink to discharge ink droplets through a nozzle.
- 5. A liquid jet recording method of recording on a recording material with liquid droplets discharged through plural nozzles disposed in a width in a sub-scan direction, comprising the steps of:performing a first recording scan to record a plurality of pixels by moving the plural nozzles relative to the recording medium; performing a sub-scan operation by performing relative movement between the nozzles and the recording material in a sub-scan direction, said sub-scan operation effecting relative movement between the nozzles and the recording material by a distance smaller than the width; and performing a second recording scan by moving the plural nozzles relative to the recording medium, wherein during said first and second recording scans an image comprising a plurality of pixels is recorded, and at least one of the plurality of pixels is formed by one ink droplet and others of the plurality of pixels are formed by a combination of ink droplets ejected from different nozzles during different recording scans to provide plural tonal levels corresponding to respective tone signals.
- 6. A method according to claim 5, wherein each of said plurality of pixels is formed by at least two ink droplets having the same nominal but different actual sizes, respectively, thereby providing plural tonal levels.
- 7. A method according to claim 5, wherein each of said plurality of pixels is formed by at least two ink droplets having the same nominal but different actual volumes, respectively, thereby providing plural tonal levels.
- 8. A liquid jet recording method of recording on a recording material with liquid droplets discharged through plural nozzles disposed in a width in a sub-scan direction, comprising the steps of:performing a first recording scan by moving the plural nozzles relative to the recording medium; performing a sub-scan operation by performing relative movement between the nozzles and the recording material in a sub-scan direction, said sub-scan operation effecting relative movement between the nozzles and the recording material by a distance smaller than the width; and performing a second recording scan by moving the plural nozzles relative to the recording medium, wherein during said first and second recording scans a plurality of ink droplets are deposited on the recording material to form thereon a recorded image having plural tonal levels and a plurality of pixels corresponding to respective tone signals, and at least one of the plurality of pixels is formed by one ink droplet and others of the plurality of pixels are formed by plural ink droplets of a same color and of a same nominal volume but different actual volumes, such that respective ones of the plurality of pixels formed by plural ink droplets and having a same tonal level have substantially a same total volume.
- 9. A liquid jet recording method of recording on a recording material with liquid droplets discharged through plural nozzles disposed in a width in a sub-scan direction, comprising the steps of:performing a first recording scan by moving the plural nozzles relative to the recording medium; performing a sub-scan operation by performing relative movement between the nozzles and the recording material in a sub-scan direction, said sub-scan operation effecting relative movement between the nozzles and the recording material by a distance smaller than the width; and performing a second recording scan by moving the plural nozzles relative to the recording medium, wherein during said first and second recording scans an image comprising a plurality of pixels is recorded, and a plurality of ink droplets are deposited on the recording material to form thereon a recorded image having plural tonal levels and a plurality of pixels corresponding to respective tone signals, and at least one of the plurality of pixels is formed by one ink droplet and others of the plurality of pixels are formed by plural ink droplets of a same color and of a same nominal size but different actual sizes, such that respective ones of the plurality of pixels formed by plural ink droplets and having a same tonal level have substantially a same total size.
- 10. A liquid jet recording method of recording on a recording material with liquid droplets discharged through plural nozzles disposed in a width in a sub-scan direction, comprising the steps of:performing a first recording scan by moving the plural nozzles relative to the recording medium; performing a sub-scan operation by performing relative movement between the nozzles and the recording material in a sub-scan direction, said sub-scan operation effecting relative movement between the nozzles and the recording material by a distance smaller than the width; and performing a second recording scan by moving the plural nozzles relative to the recording medium, wherein a plurality of ink droplets are deposited on the recording material to form a recorded image having plural tonal levels, the recorded image comprising a plurality of pixels and at least one of the plurality of pixels is formed by one ink droplet and others of the plurality of pixels are formed by a combination of ink droplets ejected from different nozzles of a recording head during different recording scans to provide plural tonal levels corresponding to respective tone signals, each of the droplets having a same nominal size but different actual sizes, whereby variations among pixels having a same tonal level are minimized.
- 11. A method of producing a tonal print from a storage medium by liquid droplets ejected through a plurality of nozzles disposed in a width in a sub-scan direction, comprising the steps of:performing a first main scan operation by performing relative movement between the nozzles and a recording material and recording a plurality of pixels using a number of ink droplets ejected by a first nozzle corresponding to respective tone signals; performing a sub-scan operation by performing relative movement between the nozzles and the recording material in a sub-scan direction, said sub-scan operation effecting relative movement between the nozzles and the recording material by a distance smaller than the width; and performing a second main scan operation by performing relative movement between the nozzles and the recording material and recording a plurality of pixels using a number of ink droplets by a second nozzle corresponding to respective tone signals, wherein a plurality of pixels having plural tonal levels are formed on the recording material, and at least one of the plurality of pixels is formed by one ink droplet and others of the plurality of pixels are formed by plural ink droplets of a same color and a same nominal volume but different actual volumes.
- 12. A method of producing a tonal print from a storage medium by liquid droplets ejected through a plurality of nozzles disposed in a width in a sub-scan direction, comprising the steps of:performing a first main scan operation by performing relative movement between the nozzles and a recording material and recording a plurality of pixels using a number of ink droplets ejected by a first nozzle corresponding to respective tone signals; performing a sub-scan operation by performing relative movement between the nozzles and the recording material in a sub-scan direction, said sub-scan operation effecting relative movement between the nozzles and the recording material by a distance smaller than the width; and performing a second main scan operation by performing relative movement between the nozzles and the recording material and recording a plurality of pixels using a number of ink droplets by a second nozzle corresponding to respective tone signals, wherein a plurality of pixels having plural tonal levels are formed on the recording material, at least one of the plurality of pixels is formed by one ink droplet and others of the plurality of pixels are formed by plural ink droplets of a same color and a same nominal size but different actual sizes.
- 13. A method of producing a tonal print from a storage medium by liquid droplets ejected through a plurality of nozzles disposed in a width in a sub-scan direction, comprising the steps of:performing a first recording scan to record a plurality of pixels by moving the plural nozzles relative a recording medium; performing a sub-scan operation by performing relative movement between the nozzles and the recording material in a sub-scan direction, said sub-scan operation effecting relative movement between the nozzles and the recording material by a distance smaller than the width; and performing a second recording scan by moving the plural nozzles relative to the recording medium, wherein during said first and second recording scans an image comprising a plurality of pixels is recorded, and at least one of the plurality of pixels is formed by one ink droplet and others of the plurality of pixels are formed by a combination of ink droplets ejected from different nozzles during different recording scans to provide plural tonal levels corresponding to respective tone signals.
- 14. A method of producing a tonal print from a storage medium by liquid droplets ejected through a plurality of nozzles are disposed in a width in a sub-scan direction, comprising the steps of:performing a first recording scan by moving the plural nozzles relative to a recording medium; performing a sub-scan operation by performing relative movement between the nozzles and the recording material in a sub-scan direction, said sub-scan operation effecting relative movement between the nozzles and the recording material by a distance smaller than the width; and performing a second recording scan by moving the plural nozzles relative to the recording medium, wherein during said first and second recording scans a plurality of ink droplets are deposited on the recording material to form thereon a recorded image having plural tonal levels and a plurality of pixels corresponding to respective tone signals, and at least one of the plurality of pixels is formed by one ink droplet and others of the plurality of pixels are formed by plural ink droplets of a same color and of a same nominal volume but different actual volumes, such that respective ones of the plurality of pixels formed by plural ink droplets and having a same tonal level have substantially a same total volume.
- 15. A method of producing a tonal print from a storage medium by liquid droplets ejected through a plurality of nozzles disposed in a width in a sub-scan direction, comprising the steps of:performing a first recording scan by moving the plural nozzles relative to a recording medium; performing a sub-scan operation by performing relative movement between the nozzles and the recording material in a sub-scan direction, said sub-scan operation effecting relative movement between the nozzles and the recording material by a distance smaller than the width; and performing a second recording scan by moving the plural nozzles relative to the recording medium, wherein during said first and second recording scans an image comprising a plurality of pixels is recorded, and a plurality of ink droplets are deposited on the recording material to form thereon a recorded image having plural tonal levels corresponding to respective tone signals and a plurality of pixels, and at least one of the plurality of pixels is formed by one ink droplet and others of the plurality of pixels are formed by plural ink droplets of a same color and of a same nominal size but different actual sizes, such that respective ones of the plurality of pixels formed by plural ink droplets and having a same tonal level have substantially a same total size.
- 16. A method of producing a tonal print from a storage medium by liquid droplets ejected through a plurality of nozzles disposed in a width in a sub-scan direction, comprising the steps of:performing a first recording scan by moving the plural nozzles relative to the recording medium; performing a sub-scan operation by performing relative movement between the nozzles and the recording material in a sub-scan direction, said sub-scan operation effecting relative movement between the nozzles and the recording material by a distance smaller than the width; and performing a second recording scan by moving the plural nozzles relative to the recording medium, wherein a plurality of ink droplets are deposited on the recording material to form a recorded image having plural tonal levels the recorded image comprising a plurality of pixels, and at least one of the plurality of pixels is formed by one ink droplet and others of the plurality of pixels are formed by a combination of ink droplets elected from different nozzles of a recording head during different recording scans to provide plural tonal levels corresponding to respective tone signals, each of the droplets having a same nominal size but different actual sizes, whereby variations among pixels having a same tonal level are minimized.
