Claims
- 1. A toner transport device comprising:
- a toner transport surface having a first end and a second end;
- a plurality of electrodes disposed adjacent the toner transport surface, the plurality of electrodes being adapted to produce an electric field for transporting toner particles along the toner transport surface;
- a plurality of dividers disposed adjacent the toner transport surface, the plurality of dividers being positioned generally perpendicular to the plurality of electrodes to define a plurality of toner transport channels; and
- a dielectric runway located at the second end of the toner transport surface.
- 2. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 1, wherein the toner transport surface is comprised of a first dielectric material and wherein the dielectric runway is comprised of a second dielectric material.
- 3. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 1, wherein the plurality of electrodes are disposed parallel to one another to generate a traveling wave.
- 4. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 1, wherein the plurality of electrodes are disposed beneath the toner transport surface.
- 5. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 1, wherein the plurality of electrodes terminate upon reaching the dielectric runway.
- 6. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 1, wherein the plurality of electrodes are configured in groups of six electrodes to generate a six-phase traveling wave.
- 7. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 1, wherein the plurality of dividers comprise a plurality of divider electrodes disposed beneath the toner transport surface.
- 8. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 1, wherein the plurality of dividers comprise a plurality of dielectric rails disposed on the toner transport surface.
- 9. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 1, wherein the dielectric runway enhances release of the toner particles from the second end of the toner transport surface.
- 10. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 1, wherein the dielectric runway decreases the divergence of the electric field near the second end of the toner transport surface.
- 11. A toner transport device comprising:
- a toner transport surface;
- a plurality of electrodes disposed adjacent the toner transport surface, the plurality of electrodes being positioned to produce an electric field for transporting toner particles along the toner transport surface;
- a plurality of dividers disposed adjacent the toner transport surface, the plurality of dividers being positioned generally perpendicular to the plurality of electrodes to define a plurality of toner transport channels; and
- a runway coupled to the toner transport surface, the runway altering the electric field produced by the plurality of electrodes.
- 12. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 11, wherein the toner transport surface is comprised of a first dielectric material and wherein the runway is comprised of a second dielectric material.
- 13. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 11, wherein the plurality of electrodes are disposed parallel to one another to generate a traveling wave.
- 14. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 11, wherein the plurality of electrodes are disposed beneath the toner transport surface.
- 15. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 11, wherein the plurality of electrodes terminate before reaching the runway.
- 16. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 11, wherein the plurality of electrodes are configured in groups of six electrodes to generate a six-phase traveling wave.
- 17. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 11, wherein the plurality of dividers comprise a plurality of divider electrodes disposed beneath the toner transport surface.
- 18. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 11, wherein the plurality of dividers comprise a plurality of dielectric rails disposed on the toner transport surface.
- 19. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 11, wherein the runway alters the electric field near the second end of the toner transport surface.
- 20. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 11, wherein the runway decreases the divergence of the electric field near the second end of the toner transport surface.
- 21. A toner transport device comprising:
- a substrate having a main portion and an end portion adjacent the main portion;
- a plurality of electrodes disposed over the main portion of the substrate, the plurality of electrodes being positioned to produce an electric field for transporting toner particles; and
- a dielectric layer disposed over the plurality of electrodes and over the end portion of the substrate, the dielectric layer disposed over the end portion of the substrate creating a runway for the toner particles, said runway being at least approximately 15 microns and said plurality of electrodes ending at said runway.
- 22. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 21, wherein the dielectric layer over the plurality of electrodes is comprised of a first dielectric material and wherein the dielectric layer over the end portion of the substrate is comprised of a second dielectric material.
- 23. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 21, wherein the plurality of electrodes are disposed parallel to one another to generate a traveling wave.
- 24. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 21, wherein the plurality of electrodes are configured in groups of six electrodes to generate a six-phase traveling wave.
- 25. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 21, farther comprising:
- a plurality of dividers disposed adjacent the dielectric layer, the plurality of dividers being positioned generally perpendicular to the plurality of electrodes to define a plurality of toner transport channels.
- 26. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 25, wherein the plurality of dividers comprise a plurality of divider electrodes disposed beneath the dielectric layer.
- 27. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 25, wherein the plurality of dividers comprise a plurality of dielectric rails disposed on the dielectric layer.
- 28. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 21, w herein the dielectric layer over the end portion of the substrate enhances release of the toner particles from the end portion of the substrate.
- 29. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 21, wherein the dielectric layer over the end portion of the substrate decreases the divergence of the electric field near the end portion of the substrate as compared with the electric field near the main portion of the substrate.
- 30. A traveling wave toner transport device comprising:
- a substrate having a first portion and a second portion;
- a first dielectric layer disposed on the substrate;
- a plurality of electrodes disposed over the first dielectric layer over the first portion of the substrate, the plurality of electrodes being positioned to produce an electric field for transporting toner particles in a traveling wave;
- a second dielectric layer disposed over the plurality of electrodes and over the second portion of the substrate; and
- a plurality of dividers disposed adjacent the second dielectric layer, the plurality of dividers being positioned generally perpendicular to the plurality of electrodes to define a plurality of toner transport channels along the second dielectric layer over the first portion and the second portion of the substrate.
- 31. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 30, wherein the second dielectric layer over the plurality of electrodes is comprised of a first dielectric material and wherein the second dielectric layer over the second portion of the substrate is comprised of a second dielectric material.
- 32. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 30, wherein the plurality of electrodes are disposed parallel to one another to generate the traveling wave.
- 33. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 30, wherein the plurality of electrodes are configured in groups of six electrodes to generate a six-phase traveling wave.
- 34. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 30, wherein the plurality of dividers comprise a plurality of divider electrodes disposed beneath the second dielectric layer.
- 35. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 30, wherein the plurality of dividers comprise a plurality of dielectric rails disposed on the second dielectric layer.
- 36. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 30, wherein the second dielectric layer over the second portion of the substrate enhances release of the toner particles from the second portion of the substrate.
- 37. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 30, wherein the second dielectric layer over the second portion of the substrate decreases the divergence of the electric field near the second portion of the substrate as compared with the electric field near the first portion of the substrate.
- 38. A printer comprising:
- a housing;
- a toner delivery device disposed within the housing, the toner delivery device comprising:
- a toner transport surface having a first end and a second end;
- a plurality of electrodes disposed adjacent the toner transport surface, the plurality of electrodes being adapted to produce an electric field for transporting toner particles along the toner transport surface;
- a plurality of dividers disposed adjacent the toner transport surface, the plurality of dividers being positioned generally perpendicular to the plurality of electrodes to define a plurality of toner transport channels; and
- a dielectric runway located at the second end of the toner transport surface; and
- a print medium feed mechanism disposed generally within the housing, the print medium feed mechanism being operable to transport a print medium past the dielectric runway, the dielectric runway being positioned across a gap from a first side of the print medium.
- 39. The printer, as set forth in claim 38, wherein the toner transport surface is comprised of a first dielectric material and wherein the dielectric runway is comprised of a second dielectric material.
- 40. The printer, as set forth in claim 38, wherein the plurality of electrodes are disposed parallel to one another to generate a traveling wave.
- 41. The printer, as set forth in claim 38, wherein the plurality of electrodes are disposed beneath the toner transport surface.
- 42. The printer, as set forth in claim 38, wherein the plurality of electrodes terminate before reaching the dielectric runway.
- 43. The printer, as set forth in claim 38, wherein the plurality of electrodes are configured in groups of six electrodes to generate a six-phase traveling wave.
- 44. The printer, as set forth in claim 38, wherein the plurality of dividers comprise a plurality of divider electrodes disposed beneath the toner transport surface.
- 45. The printer, as set forth in claim 38, wherein the plurality of dividers comprise a plurality of dielectric rails disposed on the toner transport surface.
- 46. The printer, as set forth in claim 38, wherein the dielectric runway enhances release of the toner particles from the second end of the toner transport surface.
- 47. The printer, as set forth in claim 38, wherein the dielectric runway decreases the divergence of the electric field near the second end of the toner transport surface.
- 48. The printer, as set forth in claim 38, further comprising:
- a control circuit coupled to the plurality of electrodes, the control circuit delivering voltage signals to the plurality of electrodes to produce the electric field for transporting toner particles along the toner transport surface.
- 49. A toner transport device comprising:
- a toner transport surface having a launch end for toner transfer;
- a plurality of electrodes disposed adjacent the toner transport surface; and
- a control circuit coupled to the plurality of electrodes, the control circuit delivering voltage signals to the plurality of electrodes to produce an electric field for transporting toner particles along the toner transport surface toward the launch end, wherein the control circuit controls the voltage signals delivered to a portion of the plurality of electrodes located near the launch end of the toner transport surface with amplitudes that decrease toward the launch end of the toner transport surface to facilitate transfer of toner particles from the launch end of the toner transport surface.
- 50. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 49, wherein the plurality of electrodes are disposed parallel to one another to generate a traveling wave.
- 51. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 49, wherein the plurality of electrodes are disposed beneath the toner transport surface.
- 52. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 49, wherein the plurality of electrodes are configured in groups of six electrodes to generate a six-phase traveling wave.
- 53. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 49, further comprising:
- a plurality of dividers disposed adjacent the toner transport surface, the plurality of dividers being positioned generally perpendicular to the plurality of electrodes to define a plurality of toner transport channels.
- 54. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 53, wherein the plurality of dividers comprise a plurality of divider electrodes disposed beneath the toner transport surface.
- 55. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 53, wherein the plurality of dividers comprise a plurality of dielectric rails disposed on the toner transport surface.
- 56. A toner transport device comprising:
- a toner transport surface;
- a plurality of electrodes disposed adjacent the toner transport surface; and
- a control circuit coupled to the plurality of electrodes, the control circuit delivering first voltage signals to a first portion of the plurality of electrodes to produce an electric field for transporting toner particles along the toner transport surface, and the control circuit delivering second voltage signals to a second portion of the plurality of electrodes located near an end of the toner transport surface, the first voltage signals having an amplitude greater than an amplitude of the second voltage signals whereby said second voltage signals ramp down over said second portion of the plurality of electrodes by proximity to the end of the toner transport surface.
- 57. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 56, wherein the plurality of electrodes are disposed parallel to one another to generate a traveling wave.
- 58. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 56, wherein the plurality of electrodes are disposed beneath the toner transport surface.
- 59. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 56, wherein the plurality of electrodes are configured in groups of six electrodes to generate a six-phase traveling wave.
- 60. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 56, further comprising:
- a plurality of dividers disposed adjacent the toner transport surface, the plurality of dividers being positioned generally perpendicular to the plurality of electrodes to define a plurality of toner transport channels.
- 61. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 60, wherein the plurality of dividers comprise a plurality of divider electrodes disposed beneath the toner transport surface.
- 62. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 60, wherein the plurality of dividers comprise a plurality of dielectric rails disposed on the toner transport surface.
- 63. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 56, wherein the amplitude of the second voltage signals delivered to the second portion of the plurality of electrodes located near the launch end of the toner transport surface linearly decrease toward the launch end of the toner transport surface.
- 64. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 56, wherein the second voltage signals delivered to the second portion of the plurality of electrodes located near the launch end of the toner transport surface decrease the divergence of the electric field near the launch end of the toner transport surface.
- 65. A toner transport device comprising:
- a toner transport surface;
- a plurality of electrodes disposed adjacent the toner transport surface; and
- a control circuit coupled to at least a first portion of the plurality of electrodes, the control circuit delivering voltage signals to the first portion of the plurality of electrodes to produce an electric field for transporting toner particles along the toner transport surface, and the control circuit delivering no voltage signals to a second portion of the plurality of electrodes located at least 15 microns over the toner transport surface from an end of said toner transport.
- 66. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 65, wherein the plurality of electrodes are disposed parallel to one another to generate a traveling wave.
- 67. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 65, wherein the plurality of electrodes are disposed beneath the toner transport surface.
- 68. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 65, wherein the plurality of electrodes are configured in groups of six electrodes to generate a six-phase traveling wave.
- 69. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 65, further comprising:
- a plurality of dividers disposed adjacent the toner transport surface, the plurality of dividers being positioned generally perpendicular to the plurality of electrodes to define a plurality of toner transport channels.
- 70. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 69, wherein the plurality of dividers comprise a plurality of divider electrodes disposed beneath the toner transport surface.
- 71. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 69, wherein the plurality of dividers comprise a plurality of dielectric rails disposed on the toner transport surface.
- 72. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 65, wherein any voltage on the second portion of the plurality of electrodes floats.
- 73. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 65, wherein the end of the toner transport surface adjacent the second portion of the plurality of electrodes decreases the divergence of the electric field near the end of the toner transport surface.
- 74. A printer comprising:
- a housing;
- a toner delivery device disposed within the housing, the toner delivery device comprising:
- a toner transport surface having a launch end;
- a plurality of electrodes disposed adjacent the toner transport surface; and
- a plurality of dividers disposed adjacent the toner transport surface, the plurality of dividers being positioned generally perpendicular to the plurality of electrodes to define a plurality of toner transport channels; and
- a control circuit coupled to the plurality of electrodes, the control circuit delivering voltage signals to the plurality of electrodes to produce an electric field for transporting toner particles along the toner transport surface toward the launch end, wherein the control circuit controls the voltage signals delivered to a portion of the plurality of electrodes located near the launch end of the toner transport surface in a different manner than the remaining plurality of electrodes to facilitate transfer of toner particles from the launch end of the toner transport surface; and
- a print medium feed mechanism disposed generally within the housing, the print medium feed mechanism being operable to transport a print medium past the launch end, the launch end being positioned across a gap from a first side of the print medium.
- 75. The printer, as set forth in claim 74, wherein the plurality of electrodes are disposed parallel to one another to generate a traveling wave.
- 76. The printer, as set forth in claim 74, wherein the plurality of electrodes are disposed beneath the toner transport surface.
- 77. The printer, as set forth in claim 74, wherein the plurality of electrodes are configured in groups of six electrodes to generate a six-phase traveling wave.
- 78. The printer, as set forth in claim 74, wherein the plurality of dividers comprise a plurality of divider electrodes disposed beneath the toner transport surface.
- 79. The printer, as set forth in claim 74, wherein the plurality of dividers comprise a plurality of dielectric rails disposed on the toner transport surface.
- 80. The printer, as set forth in claim 74, wherein the voltage signals delivered to the portion of the plurality of electrodes located near the launch end of the toner transport surface enhance release of the toner particles from the launch end of the toner transport surface.
- 81. The printer, as set forth in claim 74, wherein the voltage signals delivered to the portion of the plurality of electrodes located near the launch end of the toner transport surface decrease the divergence of the electric field near the launch end of the toner transport surface.
- 82. A toner transport device comprising:
- a toner transport surface having a first end and a second end;
- a plurality of electrodes disposed adjacent the toner transport surface, the plurality of electrodes being adapted to produce an electric field for transporting toner particles along the toner transport surface; and
- a plurality of dividers disposed adjacent the toner transport surface, the plurality of dividers being positioned generally perpendicular to the plurality of electrodes to define a plurality of toner transport channels, the plurality of dividers generally extending from the first end toward the second end and terminating before reaching the second end.
- 83. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 82, wherein the plurality of electrodes are disposed parallel to one another to generate a traveling wave.
- 84. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 82, wherein the plurality of electrodes are disposed beneath the toner transport surface.
- 85. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 82, wherein the plurality of electrodes are configured in groups of six electrodes to generate a six-phase traveling wave.
- 86. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 82, wherein the plurality of dividers comprise a plurality of divider electrodes disposed beneath the toner transport surface.
- 87. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 82, wherein the plurality of dividers comprise a plurality of dielectric rails disposed on the toner transport surface.
- 88. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 82, wherein the plurality of dividers does not extend to at least one of the plurality of electrodes near the second end of the toner transport surface.
- 89. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 82, wherein the plurality of dividers does not extend to at least three of the plurality of electrodes near the second end of the toner transport surface.
- 90. A toner transport device comprising:
- a toner transport surface;
- a plurality of electrodes disposed adjacent the toner transport surface, the plurality of electrodes being adapted to produce an electric field for transporting toner particles along the toner transport surface; and
- a plurality of dielectric rails disposed on the toner transport surface, the plurality of dielectric rails being positioned generally perpendicular to the plurality of electrodes to define a plurality of toner transport channels.
- 91. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 90, wherein the plurality of electrodes are disposed parallel to one another to generate a traveling wave.
- 92. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 90, wherein the plurality of electrodes are disposed beneath the toner transport surface.
- 93. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 90, wherein the plurality of electrodes are configured in groups of six electrodes to generate a six-phase traveling wave.
- 94. A printer comprising:
- a housing;
- a toner delivery device disposed within the housing, the toner delivery device comprising:
- a toner transport surface having a first end and a second end;
- a plurality of electrodes disposed adjacent the toner transport surface, the plurality of electrodes being adapted to produce an electric field for transporting toner particles along the toner transport surface; and
- a plurality of dividers disposed adjacent the toner transport surface, the plurality of dividers being positioned generally perpendicular to the plurality of electrodes to define a plurality of toner transport channels, the plurality of dividers generally extending from the first end toward the second end and terminating before reaching the second end; and
- a print medium feed mechanism disposed generally within the housing, the print medium feed mechanism being operable to transport a print medium past the second end, the second end being positioned across a gap from a first side of the print medium.
- 95. The printer, as set forth in claim 94, wherein the plurality of electrodes are disposed parallel to one another to generate a traveling wave.
- 96. The printer, as set forth in claim 94, wherein the plurality of electrodes are disposed beneath the toner transport surface.
- 97. The printer, as set forth in claim 94, wherein the plurality of electrodes are configured in groups of six electrodes to generate a six-phase traveling wave.
- 98. The printer, as set forth in claim 94, wherein the plurality of dividers comprise a plurality of divider electrodes disposed beneath the toner transport surface.
- 99. The printer, as set forth in claim 94, wherein the plurality of dividers comprise a plurality of dielectric rails disposed on the toner transport surface.
- 100. The printer, as set forth in claim 94, wherein the plurality of dividers does not extend to at least one of the plurality of electrodes near the second end of the toner transport surface.
- 101. The printer, as set forth in claim 94, wherein the plurality of dividers does not extend to at least three of the plurality of electrodes near the second end of the toner transport surface.
- 102. A printer comprising:
- a housing;
- a toner delivery device disposed within the housing, the toner delivery device comprising:
- a toner transport surface;
- a plurality of electrodes disposed adjacent the toner transport surface, the plurality of electrodes being adapted to produce an electric field for transporting toner particles along the toner transport surface; and
- a plurality of dielectric rails disposed on the toner transport surface, the plurality of dielectric rails being positioned generally perpendicular to the plurality of electrodes to define a plurality of toner transport channels; and
- a print medium feed mechanism disposed generally within the housing, the print medium feed mechanism being operable to transport a print medium past the toner transport surface, the toner transport surface being positioned across a gap from a first side of the print medium.
- 103. The printer, as set forth in claim 102, wherein the plurality of electrodes are disposed parallel to one another to generate a traveling wave.
- 104. The printer, as set forth in claim 102, wherein the plurality of electrodes are disposed beneath the toner transport surface.
- 105. The printer, as set forth in claim 102, wherein the plurality of electrodes are configured in groups of six electrodes to generate a six-phase traveling wave.
- 106. A toner transport device comprising:
- a toner transport surface having a first end and a second end;
- a plurality of electrodes disposed adjacent the toner transport surface, the plurality of electrodes being adapted to produce an electric field for transporting toner particles along the toner transport surface;
- a first plurality of dividers disposed adjacent the toner transport surface, the first plurality of dividers being positioned generally perpendicular to the plurality of electrodes to define a plurality of toner transport channels; and
- a second plurality of dividers disposed adjacent the toner transport surface, the second plurality of dividers being positioned generally perpendicular to the plurality of electrodes, at least one of the second plurality of dividers being positioned between respective ones of the first plurality of dividers to define a plurality of sub-channels in each of the toner transport channels.
- 107. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 106, wherein the plurality of electrodes are disposed parallel to one another to generate a traveling wave.
- 108. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 106, wherein the plurality of electrodes are disposed beneath the toner transport surface.
- 109. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 106, wherein the plurality of electrodes are configured in groups of six electrodes to generate a six-phase traveling wave.
- 110. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 106, wherein the first plurality of dividers comprise a plurality of divider electrodes disposed beneath the toner transport surface.
- 111. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 106, wherein the first plurality of dividers comprise a plurality of dielectric rails disposed on the toner transport surface.
- 112. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 106, wherein the second plurality of dividers comprise a plurality of divider electrodes disposed beneath the toner transport surface.
- 113. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 106, wherein the second plurality of dividers comprise a plurality of dielectric rails disposed on the toner transport surface.
- 114. A toner transport device comprising:
- a toner transport surface having a first end and a second end;
- a plurality of electrodes disposed adjacent the toner transport surface, the plurality of electrodes being adapted to produce an electric field for transporting toner particles along the toner transport surface;
- a first plurality of dividers disposed adjacent the toner transport surface, the first plurality of dividers being positioned generally perpendicular to the plurality of electrodes to define a plurality of toner transport channels, each of the plurality of toner transport channels defining a single pixel; and
- a second plurality of dividers disposed adjacent the toner transport surface, the second plurality of dividers being positioned generally perpendicular to the plurality of electrodes, at least one of the second plurality of dividers being positioned between respective ones of the first plurality of dividers to define a plurality of sub-pixel channels in each of the toner transport channels.
- 115. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 114, wherein the plurality of electrodes are disposed parallel to one another to generate a traveling wave.
- 116. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 114, wherein the plurality of electrodes are disposed beneath the toner transport surface.
- 117. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 114, wherein the plurality of electrodes are configured in groups of six electrodes to generate a six-phase traveling wave.
- 118. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 114, wherein the first plurality of dividers comprise a plurality of divider electrodes disposed beneath the toner transport surface.
- 119. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 114, wherein the first plurality of dividers comprise a plurality of dielectric rails disposed on the toner transport surface.
- 120. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 114, wherein the second plurality of dividers comprise a plurality of divider electrodes disposed beneath the toner transport surface.
- 121. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 114, wherein the second plurality of dividers comprise a plurality of dielectric rails disposed on the toner transport surface.
- 122. A toner transport device comprising:
- a toner transport surface having a first end and a second end;
- a plurality of electrodes disposed adjacent the toner transport surface, the plurality of electrodes being adapted to produce an electric field for transporting toner particles along the toner transport surface; and
- a plurality of dividers disposed adjacent the toner transport surface, the plurality of dividers being positioned generally perpendicular to the plurality of electrodes to define a plurality of toner transport channels, each of the plurality of toner transport channels having a width sized to accept no more than two toner particles.
- 123. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 122, wherein the width of each of the plurality of toner transport channels is sized to accept no more than one toner particle.
- 124. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 122, wherein each of the plurality of toner transport channels defines a single pixel.
- 125. The toner transport device, as set forth in claim 122, wherein each of the plurality of toner transport channels defines a sub-pixel.
