Claims
- 1. A tool carrier comprising, in combination:
a belt including a back with a midpoint, a first free end for placement around the left-hand side of a person and second free end for placement around the right-hand side of a person, a lower margin and an upper margin, and a belt buckle connector for connecting the free ends; a first pouch attached to said belt, said first pouch including an upper side with a belt loop along the upper side, said first pouch extending from the upper side below the lower margin of the belt for holding tools, said first pouch positioned for fitting on the left hip of a person, said belt further including a second pouch attached to said belt, said second pouch including an upper side with a belt loop along the upper side, said second pouch extending from the upper side below the lower margin of the belt and positioned to rest on the right hip of a person, said first and second pouches each including a pair of spaced buckles on their respective upper margins; first and second shoulder straps for fitting respectively over the left and right shoulder of an individual, said first strap attached between a buckle of the first pouch to a buckle of the second pouch, said second strap attached between a distinct buckle of the second pouch and a distinct buckle of the first pouch whereby said first and second straps are crossed over said midpoint.
- 2. The carrier of claim 1 including multiple pockets in each pouch.
- 3. The carrier of claim 1 including at least one adjustable length shoulder strap.
- 4. The carrier of claim 1 including a detachable clip for attachment of the straps to the buckles.
- 5. The carrier of claim 1 further including a waist strap attached to the belt, said waist strap including at least one handle attached to the waist strap.
- 6. The carrier of claim 5 further including two spaced handles attached to the waist strap for folding over each other and carrying the tool carrier.
- 7. The carrier of claim 1 including a handle attached to the belt.
- 8. The carrier of claim 1 including two spaced handles attached to the belt for folding over each other and carrying the tool carrier.
- 9. The carrier of claim 1 wherein at least one pouch includes an open top with an upper edge reinforced by an arcuate stiffening member, said stiffening member including a middle section and opposite ends, said middle section extending upwardly relative to the sides thereof.
- 10. The carrier of claim 1 wherein the pouches include a generally flat, planar inside face, and an outside face with a tool pocket, said inside faces including gripping means for joining the inside facers together back to back.
- 11. A multifunctional first tool pouch construction comprising, in combination:
a generally flat planar back panel including an outside face, an inside face, and a top side; at least one attachment loop affixed to the top side; at least one section of the inside face comprising a gripping surface covering; a cover flap attached to the inside face foldable between a closed position which covers the gripping surface covering and an open portion which exposes the gripping surface covering; and a storage pocket attached to the outside face of the planar back panel.
- 12. The tool pouch construction of claim 1 wherein the planar back panel is generally rectangular with first and second lateral spaced sides.
- 13. The tool pouch construction of claim 2 including first and second sections on the inside face, each section comprising a gripping surface covering and further including a first cover slap on the inside face foldable between a closed position which covers the first gripping surface covering and an open position which exposes the first gripping covering.
- 14. The tool pouch construction of claim 13 further including a second cover flap on the inside face foldable between a closed position which covers the second gripping surface and an open position which exposes the second gripping covering
- 15. The tool pouch construction of claim 12 including first and second separable sections of gripping surface covering arrayed respectively as longitudinal strips generally parallel to the first and second lateral spaced sides and including respectively a first and second foldable cover flap for the first and second sections.
- 16. The tool pouch construction of claim 11 wherein the section and cover flap each include a gripping surface which engage together when the cover flap is in the closed position.
- 17. The tool pouch construction of claim 11 further including a belt loop at the top side.
- 18. The tool pouch construction of claim 11 further including a belt loop at the top side including a top folding flap having a gripping mechanism for attaching the loop to the inside face.
- 19. The tool pouch construction of claim 18 wherein the belt loop folding flap includes an inside face and an outside face, said inside face in opposed relation to the back panel inside face when the belt loop folding flap is folded to form a loop, said griping mechanism comprising a hook and loop mechanism.
- 20. The tool pouch construction of claim 19 further including an auxiliary retention folding flap attached to the inside face of the back panel said auxiliary folding flap attachable to the belt loop folding flap.
- 21. The tool pouch construction of claim 11 including first and second spaced attachment loops attached to the top side.
- 22. The tool bag construction of claim 11 including a second tool pouch construction having a generally flat planar back panel with an outside face and an inside face, said outside face including a storage pocket; said inside face including a section with a gripping surface covering which is capable to coupling with the inside face section of the first tool pouch construction and said second tool pouch construction also including a top side with an attachment loop, said flat planar back panels being attachable with the loops thereof aligned and the inside faces joined together to form a construction having two pockets.
- 23. The tool pouch construction of claim 22 further including a carry strap attached to the loops.
- 24. The tool pouch construction of claim 22 wherein each planar back panel includes first and second attachment loops, said first loops and said second loops being loops aligned respectively.
- 25. The tool pouch construction of claim 24 further including a carry strap connecting the first loops and the second loops to maintain the first and second pouch constructions joined.
- 26. The tool pouch construction of claim 11 wherein the storage pocket includes a bottom panel and at lest one lateral panel, said bottom and lateral panels joined to and extending from the outside face, said lateral panel including an external side with at least one tool retention loop, said tool retention loop sized to receive and retain an elongate tool shaft, said lateral panel joined to the bottom panel by an inclined panel forming an obtuse angle with both the lateral side and bottom side panels whereby the shaft of a tool in the pocket is spaced from the inclined panel.
- 27. The tool pouch construction of claim 24 wherein the strap comprises an elongate closed loop member extending through the first loops and the second loops.
- 28. A tool carrier comprising, in combination:
a belt, said belt including a first strap section having a buckle element at one end and a free opposite end, and a second strap section having a buckle element end and a free end, said strap sections including respectively a hook and loop facing for joining the sections to an adjustable length; and at least one tool carrier pad, said pad including a plurality of attachment loops for receipt of the belt.
- 29. The carrier of claim 28 wherein at least one of said strap sections includes indicia representing the combined length of the straps when joined.
- 30. The carrier of claim 28 further including at least two tool carrier pads, each pad including loops for receipt of the belt.
- 31. The carrier of claim 30 further including an auxiliary connecting pad connectable to the two tool carrier pads simultaneously by a fastener mechanism to control the spacing of said pads on the belt.
- 32. The carrier of claim 30 wherein the fastener mechanism comprises a hook and loop mechanism.
- 33. The carrier of claim 31 wherein the connecting pad includes at least one loop for receipt of the belt.
- 34. The carrier of claim 31 wherein the belt is comprised of more than two connected strap sections.
- 35. The carrier of claim 28 wherein the pad includes at least one ring for support of a tool pouch.
- 36. The carrier of claim 28 wherein the pad includes at least one ring for attachment of a suspenders element.
- 37. A tool carrier comprising, in combination:
a belt including opposite ends, each having a buckle element to attach the ends together; a first tool carrier pad including belt loops for receipt of the belt; a second tool carrier pad including belt loops for receipt of the belt; and an auxiliary pad adjustably connectable by a fastening mechanism to the first and second tool carrier pads to thereby control the spacing of said tool carrier pads on the belt.
- 38. The tool carrier of claim 37 wherein the fastening mechanism is a hook and loop mechanism.
- 39. The tool carrier of claim 37 including rings on at least one of said pads for attachment of a tool pouch.
- 40. The tool carrier of claim 37 including rings on more than one pad for attachment of tool pouches.
- 41. The tool carrier of claim 37 including rings on said pads for attachment of suspenders.
- 42. The tool carrier of claim 37 wherein said belt is comprised of more than one strap section adjustably connected together.

No. 6,390,348), and provisional application Ser. No. 60/222,713 filed Aug. 3, 2000 for “Low Slung Tool Carrier” (abandoned) all of which are incorporated herewith by reference and for which priority is claimed.
