Claims
- 1. A fixture for holding tools to be processed in a rotational processing apparatus, the fixture comprising:
at least one mounting rod; a plurality of spacers slidably disposed on the mounting rod; a plurality of tools disposed about the rod, each tool being spaced from an adjacent tool by one of the spacers; and means removably attached to one end of the rod for inhibiting the spacers from sliding off the rod.
- 2. A fixture according to claim 1 further comprising first and second end plates, and wherein the mounting rod extends between the end plates.
- 3. A fixture according to claim 2 further comprising a spring disposed about the rod and located between a spacer and one of either the first or second end plates.
- 4. A fixture according to claim 2 further comprising two springs disposed about the rod, one spring being located between a spacer and the first end plate, the second spring being located between a spacer and the second end plate.
- 5. A fixture according to claim 2 wherein there are a plurality of mounting rods extending between the first and second end plates.
- 6. A fixture according to claim 5 wherein the mounting rods are spaced equidistantly apart from one another, the fixture further comprising a central rod extending between and adjustably spacing the end plates apart form one another.
- 7. A fixture according to claim 4 wherein the spacers are made from ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene material.
- 8. A fixture according to claim 4 wherein the spacers have a height of approximately 2 inches.
- 9. A fixture according to claim 3 wherein the tools are circular saw blades, wherein the end plates have a diameter of approximately 9 inches and are made from a polyurethane material, wherein the spacers are made from polyethylene material and have a length of approximately 2 inches, and wherein the rod is attached so as to produce a compression force on the blades greater than approximately 25 lbs.
- 10. A rotational processor comprising:
an first vessel; an second vessel located in the first vessel and adapted to rotate relative to the first vessel; a drive system for rotating the second vessel within the first vessel about a central axis of the first vessel and to rotate the second vessel about its own central axis; a fixture disposed in the second vessel, the fixture including
at least one mounting rod, a plurality of spacers slidably disposed on the mounting rod, means removably attached to one end of the rod for inhibiting the spacers from sliding off the rod, and a plurality of tools disposed about the rod, each tool being spaced from an adjacent tool by one of the spacers; and abrasive media disposed in the second vessel.
- 11. A process for loading tools onto a fixture prior to being processed in a rotational processing apparatus, the process comprising the steps of:
providing a fixture having:
at least one mounting rod, a plurality of spacers slidably disposed on the mounting rod, and fastening means removably attachable to one end of the rod for inhibiting the spacers from sliding off the rod; sliding a first tool onto the rod and into contact with a first spacer; sliding a second spacer onto the rod and into contact with the first tool; sliding a second tool onto the rod and into contact with the second spacer; sliding a third spacer onto the rod and into contact with the second tool; and removably attaching the fastening means to one end of the rod, the fastening means inhibiting the spacers and tools from sliding off the rod.
