Claims
- 1. A torque variation absorbing device comprising: a driving plate coupled to an engine crankshaft; a flywheel which is connectable to a power train, arranged coaxial with said driving plate and rotatably supported via a bearing on said driving plate, said flywheel comprising a flywheel body extending in a radial direction of said flywheel so as to be opposed to said driving plate in an axial direction of said flywheel and to be provided substantially parallel to said driving plate, and a spring mechanism, a torque limiting mechanism and a hysteresis mechanism interposed between said driving plate and said flywheel, said spring mechanism extending in a circumferential direction of said driving plate and flywheel, said torque limiting mechanism being adjusted so as to slip only when an excessively large torque acts on said torque limiting mechanism and said hysteresis mechanism being provided so as to produce a friction force when relative rotation occurs between said driving plate and said flywheel, said spring mechanism and said torque limiting mechanism being arranged in series with each other and between said driving plate and said flywheel as a vibration damping system, said hysteresis mechanism being arranged in parallel to the series arrangement of said spring mechanism and said torque limiting mechanism.
- 2. Apparatus for compensating for angular shocks, including fluctuations of torque which is transmitted between an engine and an input element of a transmission, comprising at least two coaxial flywheels including a first flywheel connectable with the engine and a second flywheel connectable with the input element of the transmission; an intermediate member rotatable relative to each of said first and second flywheels; a first damper between said intermediate member and said first flywheel; and a second damper between said intermediate member and said second flywheel, one of said dampers having energy storing means acting at least in the circumferential direction of said flywheels and the other of said dampers including at least one pair of friction generating members located opposite each other in the axial direction of said flywheels and an energy storing element between said friction generating members, said energy storing element being stressed in the axial direction of said flywheels to urge said friction generating members away from each other and into frictional engagement with the respective flywheel, said friction generating members being recessed into and being rotatable with said intermediate member relative to the flywheel which is in frictional engagement with said friction generating members.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 2 wherein the flywheel which is in frictional engagement with said friction generating members comprises two disc-shaped members and said friction generating members are disposed between and are biased against said disc-shaped members under the action of said energy storing element.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 2, wherein said other damper comprises a plurality of pairs of friction generating members, said pairs of friction generating members being spaced apart from each other in the circumferential direction of said flywheels.
