Claims
- 1. An ultrasound surgical handpiece tip, comprising:
a) a hub; b) a shaft having a longitudinal axis and a distal tip; and c) a groove extending along the shaft between the hub and the distal tip.
- 2. The handpiece of claim 1 wherein the groove is cut at an angle of between 10 degrees and 70 degrees to the longitudinal axis of the shaft.
- 3. The handpiece of claim 1 wherein the groove is cut at an angle of between 30 degrees and 45 degrees to the longitudinal axis of the shaft.
- 4. The handpiece of claim I wherein the groove is cut to a depth of between 10 percent and 90 percent of a thickness of the shaft.
- 5. The handpiece of claim 1 wherein the groove is cut to a depth of between 40 percent and 60 percent of a thickness of the shaft.
- 6. An ultrasound surgical handpiece tip, comprising:
a) a hub; b) a shaft having a longitudinal axis, a distal tip and a sleeve contacting portion; and c) a groove extending along the shaft between the hub and the sleeve contacting portion.
- 9. The handpiece of claim 8 wherein the groove is cut at an angle of between 10 degrees and 70 degrees to the longitudinal axis of the shaft.
- 10. The handpiece of claim 8 wherein the groove is cut at an angle of between 30 degrees and 45 degrees to the longitudinal axis of the shaft.
- 11. The handpiece of claim 8 wherein the groove is cut to a depth of between 10 percent and 90 percent of a thickness of the shaft.
- 12. The handpiece of claim 8 wherein the groove is cut to a depth of between 40 percent and 60 percent of a thickness of the shaft.
