Claims
- 1. A fluid delivery system comprising:
a first source of fluid medium; a second source of fluid medium; a pressurizing unit operably associated with the first source of fluid medium; a pump operably associated with the second source of fluid medium; and a fluid path operable to deliver the first and the second fluid medium to a patient, the fluid path comprising:
a valve; and a tube.
- 2. The fluid delivery system of claim 1 wherein the fluid path is disposable.
- 3. The fluid delivery system of claim 1 wherein the fluid path further comprises a stopcock.
- 4. The fluid delivery system of claim 3, further comprising a hand syringe operably associated with the stopcock.
- 5. The fluid delivery system of claim 1 wherein the pump comprises a peristaltic pump.
- 6. The fluid delivery system of claim 1 wherein the pressurizing unit comprises a pump.
- 7. The fluid delivery system of claim 1 wherein the first source of fluid medium comprises a contrast medium source.
- 8. The fluid delivery system of claim 1 wherein the second source of fluid medium comprises a diluent source.
- 9. The fluid delivery system of claim 8 wherein the diluent is saline.
- 10. The fluid delivery system of claim 1, further comprising an air detector.
- 11. The fluid delivery system of claim 10 wherein the air detector is disposed between the first and second source of fluid medium and the patient.
- 12. The fluid delivery system of claim 1 wherein the fluid path further comprises an air detector.
- 13. The fluid delivery system of claim 1 wherein the first source of fluid medium and the pressurizing unit may be reused for multiple patients.
- 14. The fluid delivery system of claim 1 wherein the second source of fluid medium and the pump may be reused for multiple patients.
- 15. The fluid delivery system of claim 1 wherein the first source of fluid medium, the second source of fluid medium, the pressurizing unit and the pump may be reused for multiple patients.
- 16. The fluid delivery system of claim 1 wherein the fluid path is a per-patient disposable fluid path.
- 17. The fluid delivery system of claim 1, further comprising a filter.
- 18. The fluid delivery system of claim 1 wherein the fluid path further comprises a filter.
- 19. The fluid delivery system of claim 1, further comprising a sensor operably associated with at least the first source of fluid medium, the sensor operable to determine when the first source is empty.
- 20. The fluid delivery system of claim 1, further comprising a control system operably associated with the pressurizing unit and the pump.
- 21. The fluid delivery system of claim 20, further comprising a user interface operably associated with the control system.
- 22. The fluid delivery system of claim 21 wherein the user interface is adapted to permit an operator to input one or more parameters selected from patient weight, flow rate and volume.
- 23. A fluid delivery system comprising:
a first source of fluid medium; a pressurizing unit operably associated with the first source of fluid medium; a fluid path operable to deliver the first fluid medium to a patient, the fluid path comprising:
a tube; a valve; and a stopcock; a control system operably associated with the pressurizing unit; a user interface operably associated with the control system; and an air detector operably associated with at least one of the first source of fluid medium, the pressurizing unit and the fluid path; wherein the first source of fluid medium and the pressurizing unit may be reused for multiple patients and the fluid path is a per-patient disposable fluid path.
- 24. The fluid delivery system of claim 23, further comprising:
a second source of fluid medium; and a pump operably associated with the second source of fluid medium;
wherein the fluid path is further operable to deliver the second fluid medium to the patient.
- 25. The fluid delivery system of claim 23, further comprising a hand syringe operably associated with the stopcock.
- 26. The fluid delivery system of claim 24 wherein the pump comprises a peristaltic pump.
- 27. The fluid delivery system of claim 23 wherein the pressurizing unit comprises a pump.
- 28. The fluid delivery system of claim 23 wherein the first source of fluid medium comprises a contrast medium source.
- 29. The fluid delivery system of claim 24 wherein the second source of fluid medium comprises a saline source.
- 30. The fluid delivery system of claim 24 wherein the second source of fluid medium and the pump may be reused for multiple patients.
- 31. The fluid delivery system of claim 23 wherein the user interface is adapted to permit an operator to input one or more parameters selected from patient weight, flow rate and volume.
- 32. A method of delivering fluid media to a plurality of patients, comprising:
delivering a first fluid medium through a reusable fluid path; delivering the first fluid medium through a per-patient disposable fluid path; disconnecting the per-patient disposable fluid path from the reusable fluid path; disposing the per-patient disposable fluid path; and connecting a second per-patient disposable fluid path to the reusable fluid path.
- 33. The method of claim 32, further comprising:
delivering the first fluid medium through the reusable fluid path and the second per-patient disposable fluid path; disconnecting the second per-patient disposable fluid path from the reusable fluid path; and disposing the second per-patient disposable fluid path.
- 34. The method of claim 32 wherein the reusable fluid path comprises a source of the first fluid medium and a pressurizing unit.
- 35. The method of claim 32 wherein the per-patient disposable fluid path comprises a valve and a tube.
- 36. A fluid delivery system comprising:
a reusable fluid path for a plurality of patients, the reusable fluid path comprising:
a source of contrast medium; and a pressurizing unit operably associated with the source of contrast medium; a source of saline; a peristaltic pump operably associated with the source of saline; and a per-patient disposable fluid path for a patient of the plurality of patients, the per-patient disposable fluid path operable to deliver the contrast medium and the saline to the patient, the per-patient disposable fluid path comprising:
a valve; and a tube.
- 37. The fluid delivery system of claim 36 wherein the per-patient disposable fluid path further comprises a stopcock.
- 38. The fluid delivery system of claim 37, further comprising a hand syringe operably associated with the stopcock.
- 39. The fluid delivery system of claim 36, further comprising a control system operably associated with the pressurizing unit and the peristaltic pump.
- 40. The fluid delivery system of claim 39, further comprising a user interface operably associated with the control system.
- 41. The fluid delivery system of claim 40 wherein the user interface is adapted to permit an operator to input one or more parameters selected from patient weight, flow rate and volume.
- 42. A fluid delivery system comprising:
a source of contrast fluid; a pressurizing unit in fluid communication with the source of contrast fluid; a source of saline; a peristaltic pump operably associated with the source of saline; a fluid path operable to deliver the contrast fluid and the saline to a patient, the fluid path comprising:
a tube; a valve; and a stopcock; a hand syringe operably associated with the stopcock; a control system operably associated with the pressurizing unit and the peristaltic pump; and a user interface operably associated with the control system;
wherein the source of contrast fluid and the pressurizing unit may be reused for multiple patients and the fluid path is a per-patient disposable fluid path.
- 43. The fluid delivery system of claim 42 wherein the peristaltic pump may be reused for multiple patients.
- 44. The fluid delivery system of claim 42 wherein the peristaltic pump and the source of saline may be reused for multiple patients.
- 45. The fluid delivery system of claim 42, further comprising an air detector.
