Description
TECHNICAL FIELD

The present disclosure relates generally to toys, and more particularly, to a toy system and toy collection that emulates a totem pole.

BACKGROUND

Toys may be made and sold as collections wherein each individual toy emulates a different theme, character, object, etc. In traditional collections, toys are separate and do not include an interface for attachment.

Therefore, what is needed is a toy system that includes a provision for stacking collectible toys for both play and display.

In some embodiments, a length of the post substantially corresponds to a height of the toy.

In some embodiments, the male connector of the base extends upwardly and the post mounts vertically on the base.

In some embodiments, the toy has a planar bottom and a rounded top.

In some embodiments, the base has a planar top configured to interface with the planar bottom of the toy.

In some embodiments, the system further includes at least one additional post configured to mount to the post and at least one additional toy configured to receive the t least one additional post, wherein each additional post and additional toy forms a sub-assembly configured to mount atop the post and the toy or atop another sub-assembly to form a stack of toys emulating a totem pole.

In some embodiments, the male connector of the post, when the toy is mounted on the post, is disposed within the toy and presented at a top of the toy.

In some embodiments, the toy depicts a character having an enlarged head and a small body.

In some embodiments, the toy has a face with pronounced eyes.

In some embodiments, the base includes a placard.

According to another aspect, the present disclosure is directed to a toy system including a base, and a plurality of substantially equally sized toys, each toy having an enlarged rounded head, an undersized body, and a rounded recess formed in a bottom of the undersized body configured to interface with the enlarged rounded head of another one of the toys to allow the toys to be stacked vertically to emulate a totem pole.

In some embodiments, the enlarged rounded head is convex and the rounded recess is concave.

According to a further aspect, the present disclosure is directed to a toy collection including a plurality of sub-assemblies each including a post and a toy mounted on the post, each sub-assembly configured to removably mount atop another one of the subassemblies via a male-to-female interface, and a base configured to mount and display the sub-assemblies in a stacked arrangement emulating a totem pole.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Before explaining aspects the inventive concepts disclosed herein in detail, it is to be understood that the inventive concepts are not limited in their application to the details of construction and the arrangement of the components or steps or methodologies set forth in the following description or illustrated in the drawings. In the following detailed description of embodiments of the instant inventive concepts, numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide a more thorough understanding of the inventive concepts. However, it will be apparent to one of ordinary skill in the art having the benefit of the instant disclosure that the inventive concepts disclosed herein may be practiced without these specific details. In other instances, well-known features may not be described in detail to avoid unnecessarily complicating the instant disclosure. The inventive concepts disclosed herein are capable of other embodiments or of being practiced or carried out in various ways. Also, it is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology employed herein is for the purpose of description and should not be regarded as limiting.

As used herein a letter following a reference numeral is intended to reference an embodiment of the feature or element that may be similar, but not necessarily identical, to a previously described element or feature bearing the same reference numeral (e.g., 1, 1a, 1b). Such shorthand notations are used for purposes of convenience only and should not be construed to limit the disclosure in any way unless expressly stated to the contrary.

Further, unless expressly stated to the contrary, “or” refers to an inclusive or and not to an exclusive or. For example, a condition A or B is satisfied by any one of the following: A is true (or present) and B is false (or not present), A is false (or not present) and B is true (or present), and both A and B are true (or present).

In addition, use of “a” or “an” may be employed to describe elements and components of embodiments disclosed herein. This is done merely for convenience and “a” and “an” are intended to include “one” or “at least one,” and the singular also includes the plural unless it is obvious that it is meant otherwise.

Finally, as used herein any reference to “one embodiment” or “some embodiments” means that a particular element, feature, structure, or characteristic described in connection with the embodiment is included in at least one embodiment disclosed herein. The appearances of the phrase “in some embodiments” in various places in the specification are not necessarily all referring to the same embodiment, and embodiments may include one or more of the features expressly described or inherently present herein, or any combination or sub-combination of two or more such features, along with any other features which may not necessarily be expressly described or inherently present in the instant disclosure.

Broadly, the present disclosure describes toys, collectible toys, toy collections, and toys configured to removably attach together to form a vertical stack emulating a totem pole. In embodiments, separate toys removably attach via a male-to-female interface. In embodiments, a base serve as a platform for mounting and display the toys. Each toy may depict a character, for instance a character having an enlarged head, small body, and pronounced eyes. In embodiments, each toy has substantially the same size and shape to facilitate rearranging the toys within the vertical stack. The toys may be collected, played with, rearranged, stacked, displayed, etc.

FIG. 1 illustrates a toy system 100 according to the present disclosure. The toy system 100 generally includes a base 102, a plurality of posts 104a, 104b, and a plurality of toys 106a, 106b. In embodiments, the base 102 includes an upwardly extending male connector 108 for removably attaching a post 104a. In embodiments, each post includes a female connector 110 and a male connector 112 at opposing ends configured to removably mount to the base 102 or to other posts 104, 104b to provide a vertical stack of posts 104a, 104b having any desired height.

In embodiments, each toy 106a, 106b includes a through passage 114, for instance a vertical through passage, for receiving a post 104a, 104b, to mount the toy 106a, 106b on a respective one of the posts 104a, 104b. In embodiments, the length of the posts 104a, 104b substantially correspond to the lengths of the toys 106a, 106b such that the posts 104a, 104b are substantially concealed within their respective toys 106, 106b. Thus, in use, each post 104a, 104b allows the toys 106a, 106b to be removably attached to form a vertical stack including any number of toys high, e.g., two, three, four . . . n toys high emulating a totem pole. In embodiments, the base 102 may include a placard 116 for displaying a name, brand, etc. The placard 116 may be separate and attached or integrally formed with the base 102.

FIGS. 2A-2C illustrate an example of the assembled toy system 100 forming a totem pole including two toys stacked on the base and stop one another. In embodiments, each toy 106a, 106b has substantially the same size and shape to facilitate stacking and interchange within the stack. In embodiments, each toy 106a, 106, may have a flat bottom, rounded top, enlarged head, small body, and pronounced eyes. While toys 106a, 106b depicting characters are shown, toys may also emulate objects, letters, characters, themes, etc., such that the totem pole may include a variety of different and interchangeable toys removably attachable via male-to-female connections.

FIGS. 3A and 3B illustrate an alternative toy interface wherein each toy 106a, 106b includes a recess 118 formed in the bottom for interfacing with the rounded top of another toy 106a, 106. In embodiment, the interface includes concave and convex engaging surfaces. In this embodiment, the toys may be stacked by balancing the toys whereas in the embodiment described above the attachment is accomplished by the male-to-female attachments.

In embodiments, the toys 106a, 106b may be made from plastic and may be rigid or resiliently deformable, for instance molded and air filled including a gasper. The base 102 and toys are not limited to any particular size, shape or scale. In embodiments, the posts 104a, 104b and the toys 106a, 106b may be integrally formed. The base 102 may be shaped other than planar.

From the above description, it is clear that the present disclosure disclosed herein is well adapted to achieve the objectives and to attain the advantages mentioned herein as well as those inherent in the present disclosure disclosed herein. While example embodiments of the present disclosure disclosed herein has been described for purposes of this disclosure, it will be understood that numerous changes may be made which will readily suggest themselves to those skilled in the art and which are accomplished within the broad scope and coverage of the present disclosure disclosed and claimed herein.
