Claims
- 1. A crystalline microporous transition-metal-aluminosilicate having a structure substantially isostructural with L type aluminosilicate zeolite and wherein a substantial portion of Zn is in the tetrahedral position of the transition-metal-aluminosilicate.
- 2. The transition-metal-alumino-silicate of claim 1 which has been at least partially ion exchanged with a cation selected from the group consisting of Groups I through VIII of the Periodic Table, the rare earth metals, ammonium, alkylammonium and combinations thereof.
- 3. The transition-metal-aluminosilicate of claim 2 which has been exchanged with one or more metal cations selected from the group consisting of barium, calcium, cesium, lithium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, strontium or zinc.
- 4. A process for producing a microporous transition-metal-aluminosilicate having a structure isostructural with an aluminosilicate zeolite L, comprising the steps of:
- preparing a reaction mixture comprising an alumina source, a silica source, a divalent transition-metal-source selected from the group consisting of Co, Zn, Ni, and combinations thereof, and a potassium oxide source, with substantial mixing,
- maintaining the reaction mixture at a temperature and for a time sufficient to crystallize said transition-metal-aluminosilicate,
- recovering said transition-metal-aluminosilicate.
- 5. The process of claim 4 wherein the reaction mixture has a composition, in terms of mole ratios of oxides, within the following ranges:
- ______________________________________SiO.sub.2 :Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 2 to 30ZnO:Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 0.5 to 1.6Na.sub.2 O:(Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 + ZnO) 1.6 to 9H.sub.2 O:(Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 + ZnO) 80 to 400.______________________________________
- 6. The process of claim 5 wherein the reaction mixture has a composition, in terms of mole ratios of oxides, within the following ranges:
- ______________________________________SiO.sub.2 :Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 3 to 16ZnO:Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 0.2 to 1.0Na.sub.2 O:(Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 + ZnO) 2 to 6H.sub.2 O:(Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 + ZnO) 100 to 250.______________________________________
- 7. The process of claim 4 wherein the potassium oxide source and alumina source are introduced into the reaction mixture as potassium aluminate.
- 8. The process of claim 4 wherein the transition-metal source is an aqueous solution of the salt of a strong acid.
- 9. The process of claim 4 wherein the reaction mixture is maintained at a temperature between about 80.degree. C. and 220.degree. C.
- 10. The process of claim 4 wherein the reaction mixture is maintained at a temperature of about 100.degree. C. for a time of about 7 days.
- 11. A product of claim 1 post-treated with a solution of a noble metal of Group 8 of the Periodic Table so as to deposit between 0.1 and 3.0 wt% of said metal within the catalyst.
- 12. A product of claim 11 wherein the metal is Pt, Pd or a mixture of Pt and Pd.
- 13. A product of claim 11 used as a.
- 14. A product of claim 12 used as a hydrocarbon conversion catalyst.
- 15. A product of claim 11 used as a catalyst in the conversion of n-paraffins to branched chain paraffins.
- 16. A product of claim 12 used as a catalyst in the conversion of a n-paraffin feedstock to branched paraffinic products.
- 17. A product of claim 11 used as a catalyst in the dehydrocyclization of C.sub.6 to C.sub.8 n-paraffins.
