Claims
- 1. Translucent needle-shaped apatite glass ceramic, which comprises the following components:ComponentWt. %SiO245.0 to 70.0Al2O3 5.0 to 22.0P2O50.5 to 6.5K2O3.0 to 8.5Na2O 4.0 to 13.0CaO 1.5 to 11.0F0.1 to 2.5and wherein the main crystal phase is formed by apatite crystals.
- 2. Apatite glass ceramic according to claim 1 wherein the quantities of the components, are as follows:ComponentWt. %SiO250.0 to 68.0Al2O3 7.0 to 21.0P2O50.5 to 4.0K2O4.0 to 8.0Na2O 4.0 to 11.0CaO2.0 to 8.0F0.2 to 2.0B2O30.2 to 4.0La2O3 0 to 3.0Li2O 0 to 3.0BaO 0 to 4.0MgO 0 to 4.0ZnO 0 to 4.0SrO 0 to 5.0TiO2 + ZrO20.2 to 5.0CeO2 0 to 2.0
- 3. Apatite glass ceramic according to claim 1 wherein the quantities of the components, are as follows:ComponentWt. %SiO254.0 to 65.0Al2O3 8.0 to 21.0P2O50.5 to 3.5K2O5.0 to 8.0Na2O 6.0 to 11.0CaO2.0 to 6.0F0.3 to 1.5B2O30.2 to 3.0La2O3 0 to 2.0Li2O 0 to 2.0BaO 0 to 3.0MgO 0 to 3.0ZnO 0 to 3.0SrO 0 to 4.0TiO20.5 to 2.0ZrO20.5 to 3.0CeO20.1 to 1.5
- 4. Apatite glass ceramic according to claim 1, wherein the apatite crystals are smaller than 35 μm in their greatest dimension.
- 5. Apatite glass ceramic according to claim 1 wherein the molar ratio of CaO:P2O5:F is 1:0.020 to 1.5:0.03 to 4.2.
- 6. Apatite glass ceramic according to claim 1 which has a linear thermal expansion coefficient of 6.0 to 12.0×10−6K−1, measured at temperatures of 100° C. to 400° C.
- 7. Apatite glass ceramic according to claim 1 wherein the glass ceramic has a CR value of 0 to 0.9.
- 8. Dental material comprising the needle-shaped apatite glass ceramic according to claim 1.
- 9. Dental material according to claim 8, further comprising at least one glass and/or glass ceramic of the systems comprising alkali silicate, alkali-alkaline earth silicate, alkali-aluminosilicate, alkali-zinc-borosilicate, phosphosilicate or alumino-fluoro-borosilicate.
- 10. Dental material according to claim 8 which has a linear thermal expansion coefficient of 5.5 to 12.5×10−6K−1, measured at temperatures of 100° C. to 400° C.ComponentWt. %SiO257.0 to 80.0Al2O3 0 to 5.0La2O30.1 to 6.0MgO 0 to 5.0ZnO 0 to 8.0K2O 0 to 13.5Li2O11.0 to 19.0P2O5 0 to 11.0with the proviso that (a) Al2O3+La2O3 is 0.1 to 7.0 wt. % and (b) MgO+ZnO is 0.1 to 9.0 wt. %.
- 11. Shaped dental product, which comprises the apatite glass ceramic according to claim 1.
- 12. Shaped dental product according to claim 11, which is a dental restoration.
- 13. Shaped dental product according to claim 11, which comprises a core comprising ceramic or glass ceramic material and a coating applied to the core, wherein the coating comprises the apatite glass ceramic.
- 14. Shaped dental product according to claim 13, wherein the glass ceramic material is a lithium disilicate glass ceramic.
- 15. Translucent apatite glass ceramic, which comprises the following components:ComponentWt. %SiO250.0 to 68.0Al2O3 7.0 to 21.0P2O50.5 to 4.0K2O4.0 to 8.0Na2O 4.0 to 11.0CaO2.0 to 8.0F0.2 to 2.0B2O30.2 to 4.0La2O3 0 to 3.0Li2O 0 to 3.0BaO 0 to 4.0MgO 0 to 4.0ZnO 0 to 4.0SrO 0 to 5.0TiO2 + ZrO20.2 to 5.0CeO2 0 to 2.0and wherein the main crystal phase is formed by apatite crystals.
- 16. Apatite glass ceramic according to claim 15, wherein the quantities of the components are as follows:ComponentWt. %SiO254.0 to 65.0Al2O3 8.0 to 21.0P2O50.5 to 3.5K2O5.0 to 8.0Na2O 6.0 to 11.0CaO2.0 to 6.0F0.3 to 1.5B2O30.2 to 3.0La2O3 0 to 2.0Li2O 0 to 2.0BaO 0 to 3.0MgO 0 to 3.0ZnO 0 to 3.0SrO 0 to 4.0TiO20.5 to 2.0ZrO20.5 to 3.0CeO20.1 to 1.5
- 17. Apatite glass ceramic according to claim 15, wherein the apatite crystals are smaller than 35 μm in their greatest dimension.
- 18. Apatite glass ceramic according to claim 15, wherein the molar ratio of CaO:P2O5:F is 1:0.020 to 1.5:0.03 to 4.2.
- 19. Apatite glass ceramic according to claim 15, which has a linear thermal expansion coefficient of 6.0 to 12.0×10−6K−1, measured at temperatures of 100° C. to 400° C.
- 20. Apatite glass-ceramic according to claim 15, wherein the glass ceramic has a CR value of 0 to 0.9.
- 21. Apatite glass-ceramic according to claim 15, wherein the glass ceramic has a CR value of 0.1 to 0.75.
- 22. Dental material comprising the apatite glass ceramic according to claim 15.
- 23. Dental material according to claim 22, further comprising at least one glass and/or glass ceramic of the systems comprising alkali silicate, alkali-alkaline earth silicate, alkali-aluminosilicate, alkali-zinc-borosilicate, phosphosilicate or alumino-fluoro-borosilicate.
- 24. Dental material according to claim 22, which has a linear thermal expansion coefficient of 5.5 to 12.5×10−6K−1, measured at temperatures of 100° C. to 400° C.
- 25. Shaped dental product, which comprises the apatite glass ceramic according to claim 15.
- 26. Shaped dental product according to claim 25, which is a dental restoration.
- 27. Shaped dental product according to claim 25, which comprises a core comprising ceramic or glass ceramic material and a coating applied to the core, wherein the coating comprises the apatite glass ceramic.
- 28. Shaped dental product according to claim 27, wherein the glass ceramic material is a lithium disilicate glass ceramic.
