Claims
- 1. A sheet suitable for use in hot filling of foods and being formed from a uniform blend of from about 80 to 97% by weight of polyethylene terephthalate having an intrinsic viscosity of about 0.9 as measured in a mixed solvent of 60 parts by weight phenol and 40 parts by weight tetrachloroethane at 25.degree. C, and a melt viscosity at 525.degree. F of above about 10,000 poises and correspondingly from about 20 to 3% by weight of a polycarbonate resin having an intrinsic viscosity of about 0.4 to 0.6, as measure in dioxane at 30.degree. C, and a melt viscosity of 500.degree. F. of less than 50,000 poises said sheet being non-oriented having a haze value as determined by ASTM D-1003 of less than about 2% wherein the polyethylene terephthalate portion of the sheet has a degree of crystallinity of less than 5%.
- 2. The sheet of claim 1 being formed from a blend comprising about 90 to 95% by weight polyethylene terephthalate and correspondingly about 10 to 5% by weight polycarbonate.
- 3. The sheet of claim 2 wherein said polycarbonate is poly(4,4'-isopropylidene diphenylene carbonate).
- 4. The sheet of claim 1 wherein said polyethylene terephthalate has an intrinsic viscosity of about 0.9 to 1.2 and a melt viscosity at 525.degree. F. of about 10,000 to 50,000 poises.
- 5. The sheet of claim 1 wherein said polycarbonate has an intrinsic viscosity of about 0.4 to 0.5 and a melt viscosity at 500.degree. F. of less than about 30,000 poises.
- 6. A container thermoformed from the sheet of claim 1.
