1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a transportation management system, a transportation management method, a communication sheet, and a communication antenna, and more particularly to a transportation management system, a transportation management method, a communication sheet, and a communication antenna for achieving reliable reading of and/or writing on an information storage medium attached to one or more transported objects.
2. Description of the Related Art
Conventionally, in a case of managing objects such as cargo being transported in and out through an entrance at a prescribed facility (e.g. factory), an operator at the facility identifies the transported object by looking for predetermined code information attached to the object and applying a hand scanner to a predetermined portion of the object. As another identification management system, the transported object may also be identified by installing a gate type identification management system (gate type identification management apparatus) at the entrance of the facility (e.g. factory). The identification management system (gate type identification management apparatus) may include, for example, a hand scanner, a communication apparatus, an antenna, and an identification apparatus. With the gate type identification management system (gate type identification management apparatus), a radio wave(s) is transmitted from the antenna of the communication apparatus to an information storage medium (including a resonant medium) attached to the transported object. In response to the transmitted radio wave(s), the information storage medium transmits a radio wave(s) to the communication apparatus; thereby allowing the identification management system (gate type identification management apparatus) to identify and manage the transported object (For example, see Japanese Laid-Open Patent Application No. 11-161885).
However, with the conventional identification management system, the operator using the hand scanner is required to look for the information storage medium attached to the object and apply the hand scanner to a correct portion of the information storage medium to which a read sensor is provided. This identification procedure adversely affected operational efficiency in a case, for example, where several objects are transported to the entrance at the same time.
Furthermore, in the conventional identification management system (identification management apparatus), the location of the information storage medium attached to the transported object and the area for transmitting/receiving radio waves with respect to the communication apparatus of the identification management system are difficult to identify, for example, when several objects (e.g. cargo) of various shapes are loaded onto a carrier (e.g. transportation carriage) or when the objects are transported as a bundle. This causes difficulty in the identification of the transported objects and adversely affects operations following this identification procedure.
Furthermore, even when the information storage medium cannot be identified due to malfunction (e.g. disconnection) of the antenna or the communication apparatus, the operator handling the transport of the cargo is unable to realize the operating state of the apparatuses for identifying the information storage medium. This prevents precise transportation of the cargo. Furthermore, in a case where the malfunctioned antenna and the communication apparatus are both included in a single apparatus, a large amount of time would be required for replacing the malfunctioned component, or in some cases the replacement or repair of the entire apparatus may be necessary. The cost for such replacement or repair is expensive. Furthermore, such replacement can neither be conducted quickly nor easily.

In the following, embodiments of the present invention are described with reference to
In the transportation management system according to the embodiment of the present invention, the RF communication apparatuses 1a-1n perform a process such as reading/writing data from/to the information storage medium 10 in accordance with the control of the control part 2a. The RF communication apparatuses 1a-1n may alternatively have the control apparatus 2 (control part 2a) and the I/F part 3 installed therein. The control part 2a, which is connected to the host computer 5 and the computer units 7a-7n via the I/F part 3 and the LAN control apparatus 4, transmits/receives data stored in the information storage medium 10 with the RF communication apparatuses 1a-1n.
The host computer 5 has the DB 6 connected thereto or installed therein. In addition to the operational information regarding the operation to be performed on the target object and the operator information regarding the operator assigned to the operation, the DB 6 is also loaded (stored) with, for example, information regarding the target object, various data used by the operations management system 8a, the production management system 8b, or the stock management system 8n. The information and data are stored in correspondence with the items set in the fields of the DB 6.
The computer units 7a-7n, which are connected to the operations management system 8a, the production management system 8b, and/or the transportation management system 8n, provide instructions regarding the operations of each system based on reception data received from the RF communication apparatuses 1a-1n. For example, in a case where there is a change in the schedule of an anticipated transport (shipment) (i.e. a shipment earlier or later than anticipated), the change is communicated to the operator of a subsequent operation or is reflected in the schedule. Thereby, the line of the operations can be controlled consistently.
Thus, in the transportation management system according to this embodiment of the present invention, the RF communication apparatus 1 (1a-1n), upon transportation of a target object, transmits a radio wave to the information storage medium 10 attached to the target object. In response to the transmitted radio wave, the information storage medium 10 transmits a radio wave including identification information regarding the target object (i.e. identification information) such as ID information corresponding to the target object. When a target object is transported, the control apparatus 2 obtains information regarding transportation of the target object (i.e. transportation information) such as information regarding the gate to which the target object is transported and/or information regarding the time and date when the target object is transported, and stores the transportation information in its memory. Furthermore, the control apparatus 2 extracts (retrieves) operational information corresponding to the identification information of the target object from the DB6, and compares the transportation information (indicating the actual results of the transportation) with the operational information (indicating the anticipated results of the transportation). For example, in the comparison, the control apparatus 2 determines changes or abnormality of the transportation (e.g. whether there is a delay/advance in schedule, whether there is any unconfirmed transportation). The control apparatus 2, in accordance with the comparison, instructs notification information (including at least the results of the comparison) be transmitted to the operator of a corresponding operation of the target object.
The RF circuit 11 and the EEPROM 13 are connected to the control circuit 12. The RF circuit 11 is an analog circuit for receiving radio waves from the RF communication apparatus 1 (1a-1n) shown in
The RF communication apparatus 1 according to this embodiment of the present invention has the control apparatus 2 (control part 2a) and the I/F part 3 installed therein. By installing the control apparatus 2 (control part 2a) and the I/F part 3 in the RF communication apparatus 1, data communications can be achieved between the information storage medium 10 and the host computer 5. Accordingly, the RF communication apparatus 1 according to this embodiment of the present invention functions as the control apparatus 2. That is, when the target object 30 is transported, the control part 26 obtains transportation information (e.g. information regarding the gate to which the target object is transported and/or information regarding the time and date when the target object is transported) and stores the transportation information in its memory (not shown). Furthermore, the control part 26 or the control part 2a extracts operational information corresponding to the identification information of the target object 30 from the DB 6, and compares the transportation information (indicating the actual results of the transportation) with the operational information (indicating the anticipated results of the transportation). For example, in the comparison, the control apparatus 2 determines changes or abnormality of the transportation (e.g. whether there is a delay/advance in schedule, whether there is any unconfirmed transportation). The control apparatus 2, in accordance with the comparison, instructs that notification information (including at least the results of the comparison) be transmitted to the operator of a corresponding operation.
In
More specifically, the host computer 5 extracts setting information regarding transportation (e.g. size/width of the gate to which the target object 30 is to be transported, shape of the target object 30, the amount of target objects, the frequency (repetition) of the transportation) and transmits the extracted setting information to the control part 2a of the control apparatus 2 for controlling the gate corresponding to the target object 30. The control part 2a of the control apparatus 2, receiving the setting information (setting data) from the host computer 5 via the LAN control apparatus 4 and the I/F part 3, inputs (stores) the setting data in its memory (Step S1).
The control part 2a instructs the modulation circuit 21 of the RF communication apparatus 1 (1a-1n) to conduct a modulation process in accordance with the setting information stored in its memory for generating transmission radio waves corresponding to the RF communication apparatus 1 (1a-1n) (Step S2). Then, the transmission control part 22 obtains timing information (e.g. time difference transmission of radio waves with same frequency, time difference/synchronous transmission of multiple radio waves) included in the setting information stored in the memory of the control part 2a (Step S3). Then, the transmission control part 22 determines whether to transmit transmission radio waves in accordance with the obtained timing information (Step S4).
In a case where the transmission control part 22 determines to transmit transmission radio waves (YES in Step S4), the transmission control part 22 transmits the transmission radio waves (which are modulated in the modulation circuit 21) at the transmission timing obtained in Step S3 to the information storage medium 10 via the antenna 25 (Step S5). In a case where the transmission control part 22 determines not to transmit transmission radio waves (NO in Step S4), the RF communication apparatus 1 waits until the appropriate transmission timing (Step S4). It is to be noted that the control part 2a, which is connected to one or more RF communication apparatuses 1a-1n, performs an exclusive process and/or a synchronous process for the transmission of the transmission radio waves in accordance with the setting information stored in the memory of the control part 2a.
Next, the reception control part 23 determines whether a reception radio wave (modulated data signal) is received from the information storage medium 10 via the antenna 25 (Step S6). In a case where the reception control part 23 determines reception of the reception radio wave (YES in Step S6), the demodulation circuit 24 performs a demodulation process on the received reception radio wave. In a case where the reception control part 23 determines no reception of the reception radio wave (NO in Step S6), the process returns to Step S4. Then, the transmission control part 22 determines whether to transmit transmission radio waves again.
Next, the control part 2a stores the demodulated reception data (obtained from the demodulation process) in its memory and determines whether there is any redundant data with respect to data received from other RF communication apparatuses (1a-1n) (Step S7). In a case where the control part 2a determines that there is redundant reception data (YES in Step S7), the control part 2a deletes the redundant reception data (Step S8). In a case where the control part 2a determines that there is no redundant reception data (NO in Step S7), the control part 2a compares the reception data with the data stored its memory (Step S9).
Then, the control part 2a determines whether the reception data matches the data of a target object anticipated for transportation according to the comparison in Step S9 (Step S10).
In a case where the control part 2a determines that the reception data matches data of the anticipated target object (YES in Step S10), the control part 2a adds affirmative confirmation information (e.g. gate information, information regarding the RF communication apparatus 1, operational information regarding the antenna, information regarding date/time of transportation) to the reception data (Step S11), so that the affirmative confirmation information may be written onto the memory of the information storage medium 10. In a case where the control part 2a determines that the reception data does not match data of the anticipated target object (NO in Step S10), the control part 2a, assuming that the transportation is an error, adds negative confirmation information to the reception data based on information similar to or corresponding to the anticipated target object (Step S12). The control part 2a, depending on whether the added information is affirmative confirmation information or negative confirmation information, extracts corresponding transmission destination information and/or corresponding operational information from the DB6 and sets a transmission destination according to the extracted information (Step S13). Then, the control part 2a transmits the demodulated reception data (added with the affirmative confirmation information or the negative confirmation information) to the transmission destination. Thus, the transmitted data is stored in the DB 6 of the host computer 5, so that the data is applied to the upper level system 8 (operations management system 8a, production management system 8b, stock management system 8n) which are controlled by the computer unit 7 (7a-7n).
The output of the output part 20 of the RF communication apparatus 1 may be indicated by using, for example, an LED. For example, the LED may be used to indicate the operating state (a blue type light indicating an active state and a red type light indicating an inactive state) or to communicate the results of the identification. Alternatively, the output of the output part 20 of the RF communication apparatus 1 may be indicated by using, for example, sound or voice. For example, sound may be used to indicate the operation (short sound indicating an active state and a continuous sound indicating an inactive state) or to signal the results of the identification. Furthermore, a camera (not shown) may be placed in the vicinity of the gate for performing image identification on the target object passing through the gate, to thereby prevent the information storage medium 10 from passing the RF communication apparatus 1 without being identified.
Although the output of the output part 20 of the RF communication apparatus 1 is described above as being indicated with LED, sound or voice, other methods may also be employed. For example, a display board (not shown) may be employed for displaying demodulated data of the information storage medium 10 or other related information.
It is to be noted that the present invention is not limited to the split curtain-like sheet member 40 provided with multiple pouch parts 42a-44c. Other embodiments may be employed, as long as it is a sheet member that allows the RF communication apparatus 1 to be detachably attached thereto, and sway (oscillate) when the target object contacts the sheet member being, for example, in a hung state (drooped state).

The information storage medium 50 according to this embodiment of the present invention includes a first display area 51, a second display area 52, and a memory area 53. The first display area 51 or the second display area 52 may be, for example, rewritable paper that is attached to the target object and used by being passed around by an operator or a manager in each of the operations. The first display area 51 and/or the second display area 52 are areas which visibly display information regarding the operation of the target object. The information that is to be displayed on the first/second display areas 51, 52 can be rewritten. Meanwhile, the same as the configuration shown in
In the memory area 53, the RF circuit and the EEPROM are connected to the control circuit. The RF circuit is an analog circuit for receiving radio waves from the RF communication apparatuses 1a-1n shown in
The rewritable apparatuses 9a-9n and the rewritable apparatuses (not shown) provided to the lower level operations (operation 1-14) are, for example, printers for rewriting the information in the first display area 51 and the second display area 52 of the information storage medium 50. The printing/erasing of information to/from the first display area 51 and the second display area 52 can be performed with a rewriting technology using, for example, light or heat. When the information storage medium 50 is placed on a sheet feeding tray of the rewritable apparatus, the rewritable apparatus determines whether the information storage medium 50 is placed on a sheet feeding tray by using a sensor disposed in the vicinity of the sheet feeding tray and receives data from the memory area 53 of the information storage medium 50 by using an antenna that is disposed, for example, on the back side of the sheet feeding tray. Then, the information storage medium 50 is fed from the sheet feeding tray of the rewritable apparatus and is discharged after having the information of the first display area 51 and/or the second display area rewritten.

Furthermore, the characteristic information (property information) of the operations management information table includes various information items corresponding to the type of form (document) used for printing (outputting) information thereto (in this example, registration form, process form, shipping form). For example, the characteristic information (property information) may include instruction information (information on whether there are any instructions), notification destination information (e.g. operator, manager, delivery destination), method of communication (electronic mail, telephone, facsimile) related operational information (information on whether there are any related operations), and combining information (information on whether there are any operations to combine). In a case where multiple operations are to be combined in a subsequent operation (i.e. a case where there is a combining operation in which multiple components are assembled for producing a new single component (product)), multiple forms (information recording media) corresponding to the operations of the components are combined into a single information storage medium 50. The necessity of combining the operations can be determined by the characteristic information “combining operation” included in the operations management table of

Furthermore, the layout information includes, for example, number of areas (spaces) displayed in the display area, position for display, and/or the area of the display. For example, notification information may be rewritten in accordance with the layout information. For example, the layout information may be changed in accordance with the amount of information (e.g. notification information) which is to be displayed as visible information. The visible information to be displayed may include, for example, letters (e.g. alphabet letters), numerals, symbols, and codes. The visible information is printed out (output) by the rewritable apparatus.
