- 12. A method for identifying osteolysis-promoting tumors comprising obtaining a biological sample from a subject and determining the presence or amount of tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) in the sample.
- 13. A method of claim 12 wherein the presence or amount of tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase is determined by reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), hybridization, histochemical staining, enzyme activity determination, or immunoassay.
- 14. A method of claim 12 wherein the biological sample is selected from the group consisting of a serum sample, a body fluid sample, and a tumor biopsy sample.
- 15. A method of claim 12 wherein the presence or amount of tumor-associated TRAP in the biological sample is determined.
