Claims
- 1. A system for handling municipal trash comprising: a front loading vehicle; said vehicle having a steerable chassis; a container removeably mounted on said chassis; means on the front of said vehicle for handling household trash containers and moving them upwardly and backwardly into an upsidedown position; said container having means for receiving trash from said household trash container; a trash compactor actuator on said vehicle chassis; and means for power operating said trash compactor actuator; said container having a pivotal portion operable by said compactor actuator; said pivotal portion being a forward wall of said container moveable about a pivotal axis near the forward lower portion of said container and openable at the upper forward portion thereof; and means to secure and release said forward wall from the trash compactor actuator when the container is loaded and unloaded from the vehicle chassis.
- 2. The trash handling system of claim 1 in which said forward wall assumes a forwardly and upwardly incline position when power is not applied thereto by said power means.
- 3. The trash system of claim 2 together with a crusher pivotally mounted on the upper edge of said forward wall and means for swinging said cursher under power against material in said container.
- 4. The trash handling system of claim 1 in which said power means takes the form of a cylinder and piston assembly mounted on said chassis.
- 5. The trash handling system of claim 3 in which the means for swinging said crusher under power, comprises a cylinder and piston assembly mounted on said front wall.
