Claims
- 1. A process for modifying the ripening of sugar cane plants so as to increase its yield of sucrose which comprises contacting the sugar cane with an effective amount of a compound of the formula ##STR7## wherein R is a member of the group consisting of H and ##STR8## and n is an integer of from 1 to 4.
- 2. The process of claim 1 wherein R is a ##STR9## grouping and n is an integer of from 1 to 4.
- 3. The process of claim 2 wherein the compound is bis(N,O-trifluoroacetyl)-N-phosphonomethyl glycine.
- 4. The process of claim 1 wherein the compound is applied from about 2 to 8 weeks prior to harvest.
