Claims
- 1. A compound of formula (I): ##STR9## wherein A is N or C(R.sup.2);
- B is N or C(R.sup.2);
- D is N or C(R.sup.3);
- R is hydrogen, hydroxy, loweralkyl, loweralkoxy, cycloalkyl, aryl, aryloxy, pyridinyl, 3-pyridinyloxy, R.sup.6 S(O).sub.n, W--ALK--Q, or --N(R.sup.7).sub.2 ;
- or R is ##STR10## R.sup.1 is hydrogen, hydroxy, loweralkyl, loweralkoxy, cycloalkyl, aryl, aryloxy, pyridinyl, 3-pyridinyloxy, R.sup.6 S(O).sub.n, W--ALK--Q, or --N(R.sup.7).sub.2,
- or R.sup.1 is ##STR11## R.sup.2 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 straight or branched chain alkyl optionally substituted by 2 adjacent hydroxyl groups, C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 straight or branched chain alkenyl, loweralkylloweralkoxy, aryl, pyridinyl, loweralkylcycloalkyl, loweralkylaryl, loweralkylpyridinyl, loweralkylaryloxy, loweralkylpyridinyloxy, loweralkyl-N(R.sup.6).sub.2, or ##STR12## R.sup.3 is hydrogen, loweralkyl, aryl, pyridinyl, loweralkylaryloxy, or loweralkylpyridinyl;
- R.sup.4 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 straight or branched chain alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 straight or branched chain alkenyl, loweralkylcycloalkyl or loweralkylaryl;
- R.sup.5 and R.sup.5' are the same or independently hydrogen or loweralkyl;
- R.sup.6 is loweralkyl, aryl, pyridinyl, loweralkylaryl or loweralkylpyridinyl; each R.sup.7 is the same or independently hydrogen, loweralkyl, aryl or pyridinyl;
- R.sup.8 is the same as R.sup.7 ;
- Q is --O--, --N(R.sup.9)--, --S--, --CH.sub.2 O--, --CH.sub.2 N(R.sup.9)-- or --CH.sub.2 S--;
- W is hydrogen, hydroxy, loweralkyl, loweralkoxy, aryl, aryloxy, pyridinyl which may be substituted by one or two hydroxy groups, pyridinyloxy, --N(R.sup.10).sub.2, or ##STR13## R.sup.9 and R.sup.10 have the same meaning as R.sup.7 ; R.sup.11 are the same or independently hydrogen or methyl;
- X is --CH.sub.2 --, --O--, --S(O).sub.n --, --NR.sup.10 --;
- ALK is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 straight or branched chain alkyl optionally substituted by a mono hydroxyl group which cannot be attached to the carbon atom adjacent to Q or W when Q or W are heteroatoms, and
- n is 0, 1 or 2; and
- p is 0 or 1, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, with the provisos that (a) only one of A and B is N; and (b) only one of B and D is N.
- 2. A compound of claim 1 wherein A is N, B is C(R.sup.2) and D is C(R.sup.3).
- 3. A compound of claim 1 wherein A is N, B is C(R.sup.2) and D is N.
- 4. A compound of claim 1 wherein A is C(R.sup.2), B is N and D is C(R.sup.3).
- 5. A compound of claim 1 wherein A is C(R.sup.2), B is C(R.sup.2) and D is N.
- 6. A compound of claim 1 selected from the group consisting of the following compounds:
- 4-ethyl-9-(1-ethylpropyl)-2-(2-(1-ethylpropyl)-1H-imidazol-1-yl)imidazo[5,1-h]pteridin-6(5H)-one;
- 4-ethyl-9-(1-ethylpropyl)-2-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)imidazo[5,1-h]pteridin-6(5H)-one;
- 4-ethyl-9-(2-cyclohexylethyl)-2-(2-(2-cyclohexylethyl)-1H-imidazol-1-yl)imidazo[5,1-h]pteridin-6(5H)-one;
- 4-ethyl-9-(2-cyclohexylethyl)-2-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)imidazo[5,1-h]pteridin-6(5H)-one;
- 4-ethyl-9-(2-phenylethyl)-2-(2-(2-phenylethyl)-1H-imidazol-1-yl)imidazo[5,1-h]pteridin-6(5H)-one;
