Claims
- 1. A trigger sprayer comprising:
- a frame having a trigger handle movable from a first position to a second position;
- a flexure mounted on said frame, providing rotational freedom for said trigger handle;
- a delivery arm mounted for rotational movement relative to said frame in response to movement of said trigger handle from the first to the second position; and
- constraint means for constraining said delivery arm to move along a movement axis;
- wherein said flexure distorts both angularly and laterally in response to movement of said trigger handle from the first to the second position.
- 2. A trigger sprayer according to claim 1, wherein said flexure has an arcuate shape.
- 3. A trigger sprayer according to claim 1, wherein said frame and said flexure are formed from a single piece of plastic.
- 4. A trigger sprayer according to claim 3, wherein plastic memory provides a return force for said trigger handle.
- 5. A trigger sprayer according to claim 1, wherein said frame further comprises a locking lever for preventing movement of said trigger handle.
- 6. A trigger sprayer according to claim 1, wherein said frame further comprises a pawl and an engaging member to limit movement of said trigger handle.
- 7. A trigger sprayer according to claim 1, further comprising a pump actuated by movement of said trigger handle from the first to the second position.
- 8. A trigger sprayer according to claim 7, wherein said pump comprises a cylinder and a piston, said piston being formed at a distal end of an extension, said extension defining the movement axis.
- 9. A trigger sprayer according to claim 8, wherein said cylinder and said piston include complementarily shaped sealing members to seal said piston when said trigger handle is in the first position.
- 10. A trigger sprayer according to claim 7, wherein said pump is disposed beneath said frame and within a container.
- 11. A trigger sprayer according to claim 10, wherein said pump includes vents for venting the interior of the container to the exterior atmosphere.
- 12. A trigger sprayer according to claim 11, further comprising a dip tube communicating with said pump for feeding liquid within the container to said pump.
- 13. A trigger sprayer according to claim 7, wherein said pump includes a spring providing a return force to said trigger handle.
- 14. A trigger sprayer according to claim 1, wherein said frame includes a bayonet member for detachably mounting a container.
- 15. A trigger sprayer according to claim 1, wherein said frame includes a screw structure for detachably mounting a container.
- 16. A trigger sprayer comprising:
- a frame having a baseplate for detachably mounting a container, said frame also having a trigger handle movable from a first position to a second position, and an arcuate hinge integral with said frame, providing rotational freedom for said trigger handle;
- a delivery arm mounted for rotational movement, relative to said frame, in response to movement of said trigger handle from the first to the second position;
- a pump mounted on said frame; an extension defining a pumping axis, said extension being engageable with said delivery arm at a predetermined angular orientation therebetween, said extension actuating said pump and constraining said delivery arm to move along the pumping axis;
- wherein said hinge both rotates angularly and distorts laterally in response to movement of said trigger handle from the first to the second position, to allow said delivery arm substantially to maintain the predetermined angular orientation as said delivery arm moves along the pumping axis.
- 17. A trigger sprayer according to claim 16, wherein said hinge has an arcuate shape.
- 18. A trigger sprayer according to claim 16, wherein said frame is formed from a single piece of plastic.
- 19. A trigger sprayer according to claim 18, wherein plastic memory provides a return force for said trigger handle.
- 20. A trigger sprayer according to claim 16, wherein said frame further comprises a locking lever for preventing movement of said trigger handle.
- 21. A trigger sprayer according to claim 16, wherein said frame further comprises a pawl and an engaging member to limit movement of said trigger handle.
- 22. A trigger sprayer according to claim 16, wherein said pump comprises a cylinder and a piston, wherein said piston is formed at a distal end of said extension.
- 23. A trigger sprayer according to claim 22, wherein said cylinder and said piston include complementarily shaped sealing members to seal said piston when said trigger handle is in the first position.
- 24. A trigger sprayer according to claim 16, wherein said pump is disposed beneath said baseplate and within the container.
- 25. A trigger sprayer according to claim 24, wherein said baseplate substantially seals the interior of the container, and said pump includes vents for venting the interior of the container to the exterior atmosphere.
- 26. A trigger sprayer according to claim 25, further comprising a dip tube communicating with said pump for feeding liquid within the container to said pump.
- 27. A trigger sprayer according to claim 16, wherein said pump includes a spring providing a return force to said trigger handle.
- 28. A trigger sprayer according to claim 16, wherein said baseplate includes a bayonet member for detachably mounting the container.
- 29. A trigger sprayer according to claim 16, wherein said baseplate includes a screw structure for detachably mounting the container.
