Claims
- 1. A call treatment method for validating a calling number in a telecommunications network, comprising:
receiving, at a Signal Transfer Point (STP) on a selected linkset, a signaling message generated pursuant to a call originated by a party; responsive to said signaling message's contents, invoking service logic at said STP, said service logic operating to determine if a calling number associated with said party is within a predetermined length; and treating said call by said STP depending on determining that said calling number is outside said predetermined length.
- 2. The call treatment method for validating a calling number in a telecommunications network as set forth in claim 1, wherein said signaling message is an Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) User Part (ISUP) Initial Address Message (IAM).
- 3. The call treatment method for validating a calling number in a telecommunications network as set forth in claim 1, wherein said selected linkset is enabled with respect to said service logic by setting a Service Information Octet (SIO) associated with said signaling message to ISUP.
- 4. The call treatment method for validating a calling number in a telecommunications network as set forth in claim 1, wherein said operation of treating said call comprises terminating said call if said calling number is outside a predetermined length.
- 5. The call treatment method for validating a calling number in a telecommunications network as set forth in claim 1, wherein said operation of treating said call comprises re-routing said call to a call center if said calling number is outside a predetermined length.
- 6. The call treatment method for validating a calling number in a telecommunications network as set forth in claim 1, wherein said operation of treating said call comprises re-routing said call to an announcement system if said calling number is outside a predetermined length.
- 7. A call treatment method based on Call Type of a call in a telecommunications network, comprising:
receiving, at a Signal Transfer Point (STP) on a selected linkset, a signaling message generated pursuant to a call originated by a party; responsive to said signaling message's contents, invoking service logic at said STP, said service logic operating to obtain routing information based on said call's Call Type; and treating said call by said STP depending on said routing information obtained from a local database.
- 8. The call treatment method based on Call Type of a call in a telecommunications network as set forth in claim 7, wherein said signaling message is an Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) User Part (ISUP) Initial Address Message (IAM).
- 9. The call treatment method based on Call Type of a call in a telecommunications network as set forth in claim 7, wherein said selected linkset is enabled with respect to said service logic by setting a Service Information Octet (SIO) associated with said signaling message to ISUP.
- 10. The call treatment method based on Call Type of a call in a telecommunications network as set forth in claim 7, wherein said operation of treating said call comprises terminating said call.
- 11. The call treatment method based on Call Type of a call in a telecommunications network as set forth in claim 7, wherein said operation of treating said call comprises re-routing said call to a call center.
- 12. The call treatment method based on Call Type of a call in a telecommunications network as set forth in claim 7, wherein said operation of treating said call comprises re-routing said call to an announcement system.
- 13. The call treatment method based on Call Type of a call in a telecommunications network as set forth in claim 7, wherein said call's Call Type comprises a Call Type selected from the group consisting of: a local dialing call, a long distance call, an international call, a 900-number call, an 800-number call, a carrier-selection-based call, and an automatic collect call.
- 14. The call treatment method based on Call Type of a call in a telecommunications network as set forth in claim 7, wherein said routing information is obtained by querying a database record for Release Cause information associated with said call's calling party number and its Call Type.
- 15. The call treatment method based on Call Type of a call in a telecommunications network as set forth in claim 7, wherein said routing information is obtained by querying a database record for Release Cause information associated with said call's called party number and its Call Type.
- 16. A call treatment method in a telecommunications network, comprising:
receiving, at a Signal Transfer Point (STP) on a selected linkset, a signaling message generated pursuant to a call originated by a calling party towards a called party; responsive to said signaling message's contents, invoking service logic at said STP, said service logic operating to obtain routing information from a local database; and treating said call by said STP depending on said routing information obtained from said local database.
- 17. The call treatment method as set forth in claim 16, wherein said signaling message is an Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) User Part (ISUP) Initial Address Message (IAM).
- 18. The call treatment method as set forth in claim 16, wherein said selected linkset is enabled with respect to said service logic by setting a Service Information Octet (SIO) associated with said signaling message to ISUP.
- 19. The call treatment method as set forth in claim 16, wherein said operation of treating said call comprises terminating said call if its calling number is outside a predetermined length.
- 20. The call treatment method as set forth in claim 16, wherein said operation of treating said call comprises re-routing said call to a call center if its calling number is outside a predetermined length.
- 21. The call treatment method as set forth in claim 16, wherein said operation of treating said call comprises re-routing said call to an announcement system if its calling number is outside a predetermined length.
- 22. The call treatment method as set forth in claim 16, wherein said routing information is based at least in part upon said call's Call Type.
- 23. The call treatment method as set forth in claim 22, wherein said call's Call Type comprises a Call Type selected from the group consisting of: a local dialing call, a long distance call, an international call, a 900-number call, an 800-number call, a carrier-selection-based call, and an automatic collect call.
- 24. The call treatment method as set forth in claim 22, wherein said routing information is obtained by querying said local database for Release Cause information associated with said call's calling party number and its Call Type, said Release Cause information mapping to a particular routing number.
- 25. The call treatment method as set forth in claim 22, wherein said routing information is obtained by querying said local database for Release Cause information associated with said call's called party number and its Call Type, said Release Cause information mapping to a particular routing number.
- 26. The call treatment method as set forth in claim 16, wherein said routing information is based at least in part upon determining whether said calling party's directory number is within a controlled list.
- 27. The call treatment method as set forth in claim 16, wherein said routing information is based at least in part upon determining whether said called party's directory number is within a controlled list.
- 28. A call treatment system in a telecommunications network, comprising:
means for receiving, at a Signal Transfer Point (STP) on a selected linkset, a signaling message generated pursuant to a call originated by a calling party towards a called party; means, responsive to said signaling message's contents, for invoking service logic at said STP, said service logic operating to obtain routing information from a local database; and means for treating said call by said STP depending on said routing information obtained from said local database.
- 29. The call treatment system as set forth in claim 28, wherein said signaling message is an Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) User Part (ISUP) Initial Address Message (IAM).
- 30. The call treatment system as set forth in claim 28, wherein said selected linkset is enabled with respect to said service logic by setting a Service Information Octet (SIO) associated with said signaling message to ISUP.
- 31. The call treatment system as set forth in claim 28, wherein said means for treating said call comprises means for terminating said call if its calling number is outside a predetermined length.
- 32. The call treatment system as set forth in claim 28, wherein said means for treating said call comprises means for re-routing said call to a call center if its calling number is outside a predetermined length.
- 33. The call treatment system as set forth in claim 28, wherein said means for treating said call comprises means for re-routing said call to an announcement system if its calling number is within a predetermined length.
- 34. The call treatment system as set forth in claim 28, wherein said routing information is based at least in part upon said call's Call Type.
- 35. The call treatment system as set forth in claim 34, wherein said call's Call Type comprises a Call Type selected from the group consisting of: a local dialing call, a long distance call, an international call, a 900-number call, an 800-number call, a carrier-selection-based call, and an automatic collect call.
- 36. The call treatment system as set forth in claim 34, wherein said routing information is obtained by querying said local database for Release Cause information associated with said call's calling party number and its Call Type, said Release Cause information mapping to a particular routing number.
- 37. The call treatment system as set forth in claim 34, wherein said routing information is obtained by querying said local database for Release Cause information associated with said call's called party number and its Call Type, said Release Cause information mapping to a particular routing number.
- 38. The call treatment system as set forth in claim 28, wherein said routing information is based at least in part upon determining whether said calling party's directory number is within a controlled list.
- 39. The call treatment system as set forth in claim 28, wherein said routing information is based at least in part upon determining whether said called party's directory number is within a controlled list.
- 40. A database system for storing data usable in effectuating a triggerless call treatment service in a telecommunications network, wherein said database system is operable with at least one processing entity associated with a Signal Transfer Point (STP) node disposed in said telecommunications network, comprising:
a memory structure operable to store a list of subscriber numbers, each subscriber number having associated therewith at least one Release Cause value that is activatable in response to a call whose signaling message is received at said STP on a selected linkset; and a memory structure for mapping said Release Cause value to routing information relating to said call based on a conditionality with respect to said signaling message's contents.
- 41. The database system for storing data usable in effectuating a Triggerless Call Treatment service in a telecommunications network as set forth in claim 40, wherein said conditionality is based on determining whether said call's calling number is outside a predetermined length.
- 42. The database system for storing data usable in effectuating a Triggerless Call Treatment service in a telecommunications network as set forth in claim 40, wherein said conditionality is based on said call's Call Type.
- 43. The database system for storing data usable in effectuating a Triggerless Call Treatment service in a telecommunications network as set forth in claim 42, wherein said call's Call Type comprises a Call Type selected from the group consisting of: a local dialing call, a long distance call, an international call, a 900-number call, an 800-number call, a carrier-selection-based call, and an automatic collect call calling party number.
- 44. The database system for storing data usable in effectuating a Triggerless Call Treatment service in a telecommunications network as set forth in claim 40, wherein said conditionality is based on determining whether said call's calling party number is within a controlled list.
