Claims
- 1. A tubular metal part having an integral tubular pullout projecting from a tubular side wall of said part, comprising:
a tube of superplastic metal; the tubular pullout extending from the tubular side wall and ending in an open distal end; the distal end having a peripheral edge having small grain size and material thickness at least 60-70% of the thickness of the tube.
- 2. A tubular metal part as defined in claim 1, wherein:
the junction region between the tube and a lip portion of the pullout is prethinned before final forming.
- 3. A tubular metal part as defined in claim 2, wherein:
the prethinning includes preforming the tube into the interior of the tube.
- 4. A tubular metal part as defined in claim 1, further comprising:
a stub tube diffusion bonded to the distal end of the pullout in an overlapping position.
- 5. A tubular structure, comprising:
a tubular body having a central axis; a protruding tubular pullout formed integral with the tubular body and extending laterally therefrom; the tubular pullout having an axial channel communicating with a central axial channel in the tubular body; the tubular pullout having a distal lip whose thickness is at least 80% as thick as the thickness of the tubular body wall.
- 6. A tubular structure as defined in claim 5, further comprising;
a stub tube overlapping and diffusion bonded to the distal lip to form a single part with homogeneous metallurgical microstructure.
