The following includes information that may be useful in understanding the present disclosure. It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art nor material to the presently described or claimed inventions, nor that any publication or document that is specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art.
The present invention relates generally to the field of bed covers of existing art and more specifically relates to a two-piece interchangeable cover for a fill layer.
A duvet cover is a protective fabric casing that fits over a duvet, which is a soft blanket-like insert that is typically filled with down, feathers, or synthetic fibers. The duvet cover is designed to keep the duvet clean, preserve its insulation and shape, and provide a decorative element to the bedding ensemble. However, the process of changing duvet covers can be challenging for most people, especially those with mobility issues, and is generally not an enjoyable experience. As a result, duvet covers tend to be washed less frequently than they should. Additionally, since many individuals enjoy changing interior decor and color schemes on a regular basis, the current method of changing duvet covers requires the individual to remove and replace the entire cover, which can be time-consuming, inconvenient and wasteful. As such, a suitable solution is desired.
In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known bed cover art, the present disclosure provides a novel two-piece interchangeable cover. The general purpose of the present disclosure, which will be described subsequently in greater detail, is to provide an interchangeable cover for a fill layer (such as a duvet or weighted blanket), consisting of two separable pieces that can be interchanged for washing, decoration, etc.
An interchangeable cover for a fill layer is disclosed herein. According to some embodiments, the interchangeable cover for a fill layer may include a bottom sheet and a top sheet. The bottom sheet may include a first upper edge opposite a first lower edge, a first pair of opposing side edges, a first bottom side opposite a first top side and at least one first fastener attached along each of the first lower edge and the first pair of opposing sides edges. The top sheet may include a second upper edge opposite a second lower edge, a second pair of opposing side edges, a second bottom side opposite a second top side, and at least one second fastener attached along each of the second lower edge and the second pair of opposing sides edges. The at least one second fastener and the at least one first fastener may be configured to attach the second lower edge of the top sheet to the first lower edge of the bottom sheet and attach the second pair of opposing side edges of the top sheet to the first pair of opposing side edges of the bottom sheet, thereby attaching the top sheet to the bottom sheet.
According to another embodiment, a method of using an interchangeable cover for a fill layer is also disclosed herein. The method may comprise the steps of: providing the interchangeable cover as above; placing the bottom sheet onto a flat surface (such as a mattress); placing the fill layer over the bottom sheet, the fill layer being of a slightly smaller size than the bottom sheet and the top sheet; placing the top sheet over the fill layer and the bottom sheet such that the at least one second fastener along each of the second lower edge and the second pair of opposing sides edges aligns with the at least one first fastener along each of the first lower edge and the first pair of opposing sides edges; fastening the second lower edge of the top sheet to the first lower edge of the bottom sheet via the at least one second fastener and the at least one first fastener; fastening the second pair of opposing side edges of the top sheet to the first pair of opposing side edges of the bottom sheet via the at least one second fastener and the at least one first fastener; folding the second upper edge of the top sheet over the first upper edge of the bottom sheet; and fastening the second upper edge of the top sheet to an upper portion of the bottom sheet, when the second upper edge is folded over the first upper edge, via the at least one second fastener and the at least one first fastener.
According to some other embodiments, the interchangeable cover for a fill layer may include a bottom sheet and a top sheet, wherein the bottom sheet includes a first upper edge opposite a first lower edge, a first pair of opposing side edges, a first bottom side opposite a first top side and a first plurality of magnets attached along each of the first lower edge, the first pair of opposing sides edges and an upper portion of the bottom sheet. The top sheet may include a second upper edge opposite a second lower edge, a second pair of opposing side edges, a second bottom side opposite a second top side, and a second plurality of magnets attached along each of the second lower edge, the second pair of opposing sides edges and the second upper edge. The top sheet may include a length greater than a length of the bottom sheet such that when first lower edge and the second lower edge are aligned, the second upper edge is able to be folded over the first upper edge.
The second plurality of magnets and the first plurality of magnets may be configured to attach the second lower edge of the top sheet to the first lower edge of the bottom sheet, attach the second pair of opposing side edges of the top sheet to the first pair of opposing side edges of the bottom sheet, and attach the second upper edge of the top sheet to the upper portion of the bottom sheet when the second upper edge is folded over the first upper edge, thereby attaching the top sheet to the bottom sheet.
For purposes of summarizing the invention, certain aspects, advantages, and novel features of the invention have been described herein. It is to be understood that not necessarily all such advantages may be achieved in accordance with any one particular embodiment of the invention. Thus, the invention may be embodied or carried out in a manner that achieves or optimizes one advantage or group of advantages as taught herein without necessarily achieving other advantages as may be taught or suggested herein. The features of the invention which are believed to be novel are particularly pointed out and distinctly claimed in the concluding portion of the specification. These and other features, aspects, and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings and detailed description.
The figures which accompany the written portion of this specification illustrate embodiments and methods of use for the present disclosure, a two-piece interchangeable cover, constructed and operative according to the teachings of the present disclosure.
The various embodiments of the present invention will hereinafter be described in conjunction with the appended drawings, wherein like designations denote like elements.
As discussed above, embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a two-piece interchangeable cover. Generally, the two-piece interchangeable cover may include two separate pieces of fabric that are configured to attach together and encase a fill layer, such as a duvet or weighted blanket, therein. For example, the two separate pieces may be attached together via magnets along edges thereof. The two-piece interchangeable cover may allow for easy decorative changes and frequent washing and may mitigate frustrations when putting the cover on, particularly for those with mobility issues or other disabilities.
Referring now more specifically to the drawings by numerals of reference, there is shown in
The bottom sheet 110 and the top sheet 130 may be separable, as discussed above, so that the top sheet 130 and bottom sheet 110 can be separately interchanged for a variety of reasons. For example, the top sheet 130 may include decorative features and may be interchanged every season, to suit different colors, moods, etc. In another example, the top sheet 130 may need washing more than the bottom sheet 110 due to pets sleeping on the top sheet 130, or the bottom sheet 110 may need washing more due to being in contact with a user more than the top sheet 130.
Further, in some embodiments, the top sheet 130 and the bottom sheet 110 may be made from different materials. For example, the bottom sheet 110 may include a waterproof fabric which may be particularly useful in case of bed wetting accidents. In another example, the top sheet 130 may include a decorative-oriented fabric, such as (but not limited to) satin, whilst the bottom sheet 110 includes a comfort-oriented fabric, such as (but not limited to) microfiber.
