Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a cleaning mitt, and more particularly to a disposable two sided two thumbed cleaning mitt system which contains cleaning pad saturated with cleaning solution, as well as a dry pad and which is reversible for wet and dry cleaning purposes.

2. Description of Related Art

Generally, cleaning mitts or gloves permit the user to avoid contact with the surfaces which are to be cleaned and the substances which are used during the cleaning process but they do not address the problem or the hazards that are related to the handling of some cleaning fluids that are harmful and irritating to the skin.

Yet throughout all the years of usage of cleaning gloves or cleaning mitts, a specific mitt that addresses the problems of covering the hand, having a cleaning implement and cleaning solution, as well as a dry pad all contained in one device has not been available.

Therefore it is necessary to have a cleaning mitt that has cleaning pad and cleaning solution, as well as a dry pad all contained in one device. Such a cleaning mitt system is described herein along with its unique features.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, there is disclosed a two sided two thumbed cleaning mitt system which comprises a front panel and a rear panel connected together forming a hand compartment. The hand compartment includes a palm region adapted to receive a palm and dorsum of a user's hand, two separate symmetric thumb regions adapted to separately receive a thumb of the user's hand, one thumb region extending upwardly and outwardly from a right side of the palm region and another thumb region extending upwardly and outwardly from a left side of the palm region, and a four fingers region disposed between the two separate thumb regions extending upwardly from a top of the palm region adapted to receive an index finger, a middle finger, a ring finger, and a pinky finger of the user's hand.

The two sided two thumbed cleaning mitt system further comprises a cleaning pad attached to an exterior surface of the front panel for wet cleaning objects, and a dry pad attached to an exterior surface of the rear panel for drying and polishing the objects. The cleaning mitt is usable for wet and dry cleaning purposes. The cleaning pad is saturated with cleaning fluid. When not in use, the pads are covered.

The two sided two thumbed cleaning mitt system further comprises two peel-off covers, one peel off cover attached to the exterior surface of the front panel to protect the cleaning pad in place and prevent a cleaning fluid from dripping and contaminating hands, and another peel off cover attached to the exterior surface of the rear panel to protect the dry pad in place.

In an additional embodiment of the said invention, there can be one peel off cover that is only over the wet side of the mitt. This cover can be attached at the tip of the mitt where the fingers tips are located and flipped over from one side of the mitt to the other. This will allow for one side to remain protected from cross contamination while the other side is in use.

The cleaning mitt is reversible and is wearable in two ways, one way with the front panel covering a front of the user's hand and the rear panel covering a back of the user's hand, and another way with the front panel covering the back of the user's hand and the rear panel covering the front of the user's hand.

The two sided two thumbed cleaning mitt system of the present invention is ambidextrous so that it is wearable on either right or left hand. The advantage of an ambidextrous mitt is that it is ergonomic to both right-handed and left-handed persons. The two sided two thumbed cleaning mitt system of the present invention is also economic because the system has a cleaning implement and cleaning solution, as well as a dry pad all contained in one device. Additionally both sides of the cleaning matt can be used for cleaning/drying/polishing purposes. The thumb region separating from the four fingers region in the present invention provides a firm grip to objects than a cleaning mitt without a separate thumb. Two separate thumb regions and two cleaning and dry pads on two sides as well as cleaning solution in the cleaning mitt enable said cleaning mitt of the present invention to be used on both sides. These are the unique features of the present invention.

Additionally, this cleaning mitt is compact and can be folded or rolled for easy storage and can also be easily transported in a handbag or a pocket. After usage, it can be discarded by turning it inside out and the portion that has been used for cleaning purposes does not come in contact with the user's hands. The mitt can then be thrown away at some later time.

It is also noted here that the two sided two thumbed cleaning mitt can be used as a cleaning appliance in either a home or a commercial establishment.

In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, there is disclosed a method using the two sided two thumbed cleaning mitt system of the present invention.

His/her four fingers are inserted into the four fingers region 7, his thumb is inserted into one of the thumb regions 5 or 6 and his/her palm and dorsum rests in the palm region 4. At this position, the front panel 1 and the attached cleaning pad 8 cover the front of the user's hand. Then, the user peels off the cleaning pad cover 10 and uses the cleaning pad 8 to scrub objects at step 53. When it's done, the user takes off the cleaning mitt 100 and reverses the front and rear panels at step 54. The user then inserts his hand into the hand compartment 3 at step 55 with the rear panel 2 covering his/her palm. His four fingers rest in the four finger region 7, palm and dorsum rests in the palm region 4 and thumb rests in another thumb region 6 or 5. The rear panel 2 and attached dry pad 9 now cover the front of the user's right hand. He/she now can peel off the cover 10 to expose the dry pad 9 for drying and polishing the objects at step 56.

The covers may be peeled off before inserting the hand into the hand compartment.

After cleaning is completed, the user turns the cleaning mitt inside out and the portion that has been used for cleaning purposes does not come in contact with the user's hands. The mitt can then be thrown away at some later time at step 57.

FIG. 6 is a view showing a right hand 201 wearing the two sided two thumbed cleaning mitt system 100 for wet cleaning purpose wherein the wet cleaning pad 8 and the front panel 1 covers the front of the hand.
