Claims
- 1. A process for reducing the temperature of an object from a temperature in the range of from about +50° C. to about +350° C. to a temperature in the range of from about −80° C. to about −150° C. comprising
providing an object at a temp in the range of from about +50° C. to about +350° C. in a sealed external heat exchanger in fluid connection with a closed loop chilling system itself comprising a primary refrigeration system and a secondary refrigeration system;
a. wherein the primary refrigeration system comprises, in fluid connection, a compressor, a condenser, a filter dryer, a series of two or more heat exchangers, a phase separator interposed between the first and other heat exchangers, a flow metering device and an expansion tank; b. wherein the secondary refrigeration system comprises, in fluid connection, a compressor, an aftercooler, an oil separator, an oil absorber, a recuperative heat exchanger, a heater, a water cooled heat exchanger, a suction accumulator tank, a heater and a pressure regulator, c. wherein the primary and secondary refrigeration systems are indirectly connected by an outlet line from the water cooled heat exchanger of the secondary refrigeration system to a secondary inlet of the series of two or more heat exchangers of the first refrigeration system; d. wherein the secondary outlet line from the series of two or more heat exchangers of the first refrigeration system is in fluid connection with the sealed external heat exchanger containing the object to be chilled; and e. wherein the sealed external heat exchanger is in fluid connection with the recuperative heat exchanger in the secondary refrigeration system; actuating the secondary refrigeration system to reduce the temperature of the object being cooled lo a temperature in the range of ambient to +50° C.; and when the temperature of the object or fluid being cooled reaches a temperature below +50° C.; actuating the primary refrigeration systems to reduce the temperature of the object being cooled to a temperature in the range of from about −80° C. to about −150° C.
- 2. A refrigeration system capable of reducing the temperature of an object from a temperature in the range of from about +50° C. to about +350° C. to a temperature in the range of from about −80° C. to about −150° C. comprising a primary refrigeration system and a secondary refrigeration system;
wherein the primary refrigeration system comprises, in fluid connection, a compressor, a condenser, a filter dryer, series of two or more heat exchangers, a phase separator interposed between the first and other heat exchangers, a flow metering device and an expansion tank; wherein the secondary refrigeration system comprises in fluid connection, a compressor, an aftercooler, an oil separator, an oil absorber, a recuperative heat exchanger, a heater, a water cooled heat exchanger, a suction accumulator tank, a heater and a pressure regulator; wherein the primary and secondary refrigeration systems are indirectly connected by an outlet line from the water cooled heat exchanger of the secondary refrigeration system to a secondary inlet of the series of two or more heat exchangers of the first refrigeration system; wherein the secondary outlet line from the series of two or more heat exchangers of the first refrigeration system is in fluid connection with the sealed external heat exchanger containing the object to be chilled; and wherein the sealed external heat exchanger is in fluid connection with the recuperative heat exchanger in the secondary refrigeration system.
