Claims
- 1. A composition for use as a vaporizable fill for electric discharge devices comprising:
- free-flowing metal halide particles of a substantially uniform size and generally spheriod shape in the range between 100 and 2,000 microns and which have a total oxygen content of less than 50 parts per million wherein the halide is selected from the group consisting of the iodides, bromides and chlorides of the metals of the Lanthanide series, Groups 1a, 2a, 3a, 4a, 1b, 2b, 3b, and mixtures thereof.
- 2. The composition of claim 1 wherein the halide is selected from the groups consisting of the iodes of the alkali metals, the Lanthanides, mercury, thallium, indium, scandium and mixtures thereof.
- 3. The composition of claim 1 wherein the metal halide particles have a substantially uniform size within the range between about 150 and about 1,200 microns.
- 4. The composition of claim 3 wherein the total oxygen content is less than about 20 parts per million.
- 5. The composition of claim 1 wherein the total oxygen content is less than about 20 parts per million.
- 6. A composition for use as a vaporizable fill for a high energy electric discharge device comprising:
- free-flowing particles which consist of an ultra-pure mixture of sodium iodide and scandium iodide, the mixture having a total oxygen content of less than 50 parts per million, said particles having a size in the range between about 100 and about 2000 microns.
- 7. The composition of claim 6 wherein the particles are of a size in the range between about 150 and about 1,200 microns and which have a total oxygen content of less than about 20 parts per million.
