Claims
- 1. An ultrasonic testing method comprising the steps of:
- transmitting an incident ultrasonic wave to a test article for detecting an internal flaw in said test article; and
- determining that said internal flaw is plate-shaped by comparing a frequency spectrum of said incident ultrasonic wave with a frequency spectrum of a reflected echo from said internal flaw, said frequency spectrum of said reflected echo being substantially the same as said frequency spectrum of said incident ultrasonic wave.
- 2. An ultrasonic testing method comprising the steps of:
- transmitting an incident ultrasonic wave to a test article for detecting an internal flaw in said test article; and
- determining that said internal flaw is a crack by comparing a frequency spectrum of said incident ultrasonic wave with a reflected spectrum of a reflected echo, said frequency spectrum of said reflected echo having lower high frequency amplitudes with respect to said incident ultrasonic wave.
- 3. An ultrasonic testing method comprising the steps of:
- transmitting an incident ultrasonic wave to a test article for detecting an internal flaw in said test article; and
- determining that said internal flaw is spherical by comparing a frequency spectrum of said incident ultrasonic wave with a frequency spectrum of a reflected echo, said frequency spectrum of said reflected echo having a peak at its central frequency, a peak at a frequency lower than said central frequency, and a peak at a frequency higher than said central frequency.
