Claims
- 1. A catheter system comprising:a catheter body having an exterior surface and including: (a) an ultrasound transducer having an external side between a first end and a second end; (b) a first medium adjacent to the first end of the ultrasound transducer; (c) a second medium adjacent to the external side of the ultrasound transducer, the second medium being harder than the first medium; (d) a transducer sheath positioned over the ultrasound transducer; and (e) an assembly sheath positioned over the transducer sheath.
- 2. The system of claim 1, wherein the second medium occupies a volume between the transducer sheath and the assembly sheath.
- 3. The system of claim 2, wherein the first medium occupies a volume between the assembly sheath and the external surface of the catheter.
- 4. The system of claim 3, wherein a catheter sheath defines at least a portion of the external surface of the catheter body and the first medium occupies a volume between the assembly sheath and the catheter sheath.
- 5. A catheter system comprising:a catheter body having an exterior surface and including: (a) an ultrasound transducer having an external side between a first end and a second end, (b) a first medium adjacent to the first end of the ultrasound transducer and having a hardness from about 20 to about 40 Shore D, and (c) a second medium adjacent to the external side of the ultrasound transducer, the second medium being harder than the first medium.
- 6. A catheter system comprising:a catheter body having an exterior surface and including (a) an ultrasound transducer having an external side between a first end and a second end, (b) a first medium adjacent to the first end of the ultrasound transducer, and (c) a second medium adjacent to the external side of the ultrasound transducer, the second medium being harder than the first medium and having hardness of at least 60 Shore D.
- 7. A catheter system comprising:a catheter body having an exterior surface and including (a) an ultrasound transducer having an external side between a first end and a second end, (b) a first medium adjacent to the first end of the ultrasound transducer, and (c) a second medium adjacent to the external side of the ultrasound transducer, the second medium being harder than the first medium and having a hardness from about 80 to about 100 Shore D.
- 8. A catheter system comprising:a catheter body having an exterior surface and including (a) an ultrasound transducer having an external side between a first end and a second end, (b) a first medium adjacent to the first end of the ultrasound transducer and having a hardness of at least 10 Shore D, and (c) a second medium adjacent to the external side of the ultrasound transducer, and having a hardness of least 60 Shore D.
- 9. A catheter system comprising:a catheter body having an exterior surface and including (a) an ultrasound transducer having an external side between a first end and a second end, (b) a first medium adjacent to the first end of the ultrasound transducer and having a hardness from about 20 to about 40 Shore D, and (c) a second medium adjacent to the external side of the ultrasound transducer, and having a hardness from about 80 to about 100 Shore D.
- 10. A catheter system comprising:a catheter body having an exterior surface and including an ultrasound transducer having an external side between a first end and a second end, a transducer sheath positioned over the ultrasound transducer, an assembly sheath positioned over the transducer sheath, a first medium adjacent to the first end of the ultrasound transducer, wherein the first medium occupies a volume between the assembly sheath and the external surface of the catheter, and a second medium adjacent to the external side of the ultrasound transducer, wherein the second medium is harder than the first medium, and wherein the second medium occupies a volume between the transducer sheath and the assembly sheath, wherein a catheter sheath defines at least a portion of the external surface of the catheter body and the first medium occupies a volume between the assembly sheath and the catheter sheath.
- 11. A catheter system comprising:a catheter body having an exterior surface and including an ultrasound transducer having an external side between a first end and a second end, a first medium adjacent to the first end of the ultrasound transducer and having a hardness between about 20 Shore D and 40 Shore D, and a second medium adjacent to the external side of the ultrasound transducer, the second medium being harder than the first medium.
- 12. A catheter system comprising:a catheter body having an exterior surface and including an ultrasound transducer having an external side between a first end and a second end, a first medium adjacent to the first end of the ultrasound transducer and having a hardness of at least 10 Shore D, and a second medium adjacent to the external side of the ultrasound transducer, the second medium having a hardness of at least 60 Shore D.
- 13. A catheter system comprising:a catheter body having an exterior surface and including an ultrasound transducer having an external side between a first end and a second end, a first medium adjacent to the first end of the ultrasound transducer and having a hardness between about 20 Shore D and 40 Shore D, and a second medium adjacent to the external side of the ultrasound transducer, the second medium having a hardness from about 80 Shore D to about 100 Shore D.
