The umbrella has long been used for weather protection. From rain, snow, and sun. And while being used for those purposes, could give added protection, for pedestrians as motorists visibility is decreased by weather of those types. The American National Standards Institute published standards for high visibility clothing in 1999, to protect workers from motor vehicles and heavy equipment. The International Safety Equipment Association developed a standard with a revision in 2004, and 2010. As bikes are required to have reflectors. By using some of the same materials, commonly available. Umbrellas, protecting us from the weather could keep us even safer!
