The present invention relates to a uniform badge and, more particularly, to a uniform badge attachment device that includes rods adapted to pierce through the fabric of garment, wherein the badge or insignia is secured in the garment by folding the rods.
Several designs for uniform badge attachment devices have been designed in the past. None of them, however, include a plurality of sharpened rods configured to pierce fabric, wherein the plurality of rods includes a hinge mechanism to be folded and secured in place by means of a hinge lock.
Applicant believes that a related reference corresponds to U.S. Pat. No. 8,356,433 issued for badge displaying device. Applicant believes that another related reference corresponds to U.S. Pat. No. 2,795,876 issued for mounting for service ribbons. None of these references, however, teach of a hinged receiving device into which the pins from the badge are inserted, wherein the hinged device secures to the backside of the shirt fabric with the badge on the front side of the shirt fabric.
Other documents describing the closest subject matter provide for a number of more or less complicated features that fail to solve the problem in an efficient and economical way. None of these patents suggest the novel features of the present invention.
It is one of the objects of the present invention to provide a device that prevents insignias or badges from falling off.
It is another object of this invention to provide a device that allows the badge or insignia to be held in any garment or uniform.
It is still another object of the present invention to provide a device that may be used to secure in place any rank, insignia, badge or the like.
It is yet another object of this invention to provide such a device that is inexpensive to implement and maintain while retaining its effectiveness.
Further objects of the invention will be brought out in the following part of the specification, wherein detailed description is for the purpose of fully disclosing the invention without placing limitations thereon.
With the above and other related objects in view, the invention consists in the details of construction and combination of parts as will be more fully understood from the following description, when read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings in which:
Referring now to the drawings, where the present invention is generally referred to with numeral 10, it can be observed that it basically includes sign assembly 20, a hinge assembly 40, and a rod assembly 60. It should be understood there are modifications and variations of the invention that are too numerous to be listed but that all fit within the scope of the invention. Also, singular words should be read as plural and vice versa and masculine as feminine and vice versa, where appropriate, and alternative embodiments do not necessarily imply that the two are mutually exclusive.
Sign assembly 20 includes an insignia. In an exemplary embodiment, the insignia 22 may be a sign, mark, badge or any other suitable symbol to distinguish a group, grade, rank, or function wearable on any garment such as a uniform. As best depicted in

Rod assembly 60 includes a rod 62. In an exemplary embodiment, the rod 62 may be a cylindrical member with a sharpened edge adapted to pierce a layer of garment, wherein the rod 62 may be fixed to the pin of the hinge support 42. The rod 62 may rotate freely in conjunction with the pin between the walls of the hinge support 42. In a suitable embodiment, the rod 62 may be made of a metal material allowing the sharpened edge thereof to pierce any suitable garment without breaking or folding the body of the rod 62.
