Claims
- 1. A clip for supporting an object from the belt of a wearer comprising an elongated substantially planar body including an upstanding end portion defining an integral transverse hinge opening and said substantially planar body further defines one end of a belt loop opening:
- said elongated substantially planar body further defining at least one integral catch spaced from said upstanding portion and integral hinge;
- said catch means including a resilient member engaging said hinge opening and said integral catch of said substantially planar body to selectively open and close to define a belt receiving elongated opening between said clip body and said resilient means.
- 2. The combination in accordance with claim 1 wherein said substantially planar body of said clip means includes a pair of upstanding integral catches and said resilient means includes a pair of legs, one on each side of the portion of said body of said clip means engaging said hinge portion, said legs engagable with respective integral catches of said substantially planar elongated body.
- whereby said clip means defines a slot for receiving a belt by disengaging said resilient means from said upstanding integral catches.
- 3. A universal clip for carrying objects from a belt or the like comprising:
- an elongated body of generally flat material including a hinge socket at one end region thereof and extending substantially across said end region and catch means at the opposite end region thereof;
- the distance between said hinge passage and said catch means determining the length of an elongated passage constituting a belt openingo:
- a resilient elongated member pivotally secured in said hinge socket and including a leg portion engagable with said catch;
- said elongated body and said resilient elongated member together forming said elongated passage for receiving a wearer's belt.
- 4. A universal clip in accordance with claim 3 wherein said resilient elongated member includes a pair of legs, one of said legs extending from each of the ends of said hinge socket and engagable with said catch means to define said elongated passage for the wearer's belt;
- the length of said elongated passage defined by the length of said hinge socket.
- 5. A universal clip in accordance with claim 4 wherein said legs each include a knee portion engagable with said catch means and an end extending beyond said catch;
- said ends acting as handles for releasing resilient elongated member from said catch means.
- 6. A universal clip in accordance with claim 3 in which said catch means comprises a pair of rolled portions of said elongated body defining catches at opposite sides of said elongated body;
- said rolled catches having facing openings and a restricted opening therebetween;
- whereby said legs are secured in said catches and are released therefrom after being squeezed together and passed through said opening.
- 7. A universal clip in accordance with claim 33 in which said resilient elongated member comprises a spring wire.
- 8. A universal clip in accordance with claim 44 wherein said hinge socket spaces said legs apart at the region of said hinge socket thereby defining a pair of spaced regions for engagement of said legs with the wearer's belt.
- 9. A universal clip in accordance with claim 33 wherein said elongated body has at least one opening therein in the region between the hinge socket and said catch means for allowing the securement of said clip to the side of objects to be carried thereby.
- 10. A universal clip in accordance with claim 33 wherein said elongated body is of sheet metal and said resilient elongated member is of spring wire.
