Claims
- 1. A universal fixture for holding a printed circuit board, comprising:
- a platform with a work surface, the platform being attachable to a work station of printed circuit board processing machine;
- a first support member attached to the platform the first support member having a first sidewall, a first endwall extending transversely from the first sidewall, and a second endwall spaced apart from the first endwall along a common side of the first sidewall and extending transversely from the first sidewall, the first sidewall and the first and second endwalls projecting away from the work surface of the platform to define a first support rim spaced apart from the work surface, wherein the first sidewall translates along the first and second endwalls; and
- a second support member spaced apart from the first sidewall by a distance along a dimension of the printed circuit board, the second support member being attached to at least one of the first and second endwalls and the second support member projecting away from the platform to define a second support rim spaced apart from the work surface, wherein at least one of the first sidewall and the second support member translates along the dimension of the printed circuit board to support printed circuit boards having different sizes, wherein the second support member is a second sidewall substantially juxtaposed to the first side wall.
- 2. A universal fixture for holding a printed circuit board, comprising:
- a platform with a work surface, the platform being attachable to a work station of printed circuit board processing machine;
- a first support member attached to the platform, the first support member having a first sidewall, a first endwall extending transversely from the first sidewall, and a second endwall spaced apart from the first endwall along a common side of the first sidewall and extending transversely from the first sidewall, the first sidewall and the first and second endwalls projecting away from the work surface of the platform to define a first support rim spaced apart from the work surface, the first sidewall translates along the first and second endwalls, and the first sidewall further comprises an elongated first panel attached to the first endwall and an elongated second panel attached to the second endwall, the second panel being slideably connected to the first panel to translate along a longitudinal axis of the first sidewall and adjust a length of the first sidewall; and
- a second support member spaced apart from the first sidewall by a distance along a dimension of the printed circuit board, the second support member being a second sidewall at least substantially juxtaposed to the first sidewall and attached to at least one of the first and second endwalls, and the second support member projecting away from the platform to define a second support rim spaced apart from the work surface, wherein at least one of the first sidewall and the second support member translates along the dimension of the printed circuit board to support printed circuit boards having different sizes, the second sidewall comprises an elongated first section attached to the first endwall and an elongated second section attached to the second endwall, the second section being slideably connected to the first section to translate along a longitudinal axis of the second sidewall and adjust the length of second sidewall.
- 3. A universal fixture for holding a printed circuit board, comprising:
- a platform with a work surface, the platform being attachable to a work station of printed circuit board processing machine;
- a first support member attached to the platform, the first support member having a first sidewall, a first endwall extending transversely from the first sidewall, and a second endwall spaced apart from the first endwall along a common side of the first sidewall and extending transversely from the first sidewall, the first sidewall and the first and second endwalls projecting away from the work surface of the platform to define a first support rim spaced apart from the work surface, wherein the first end wall is slideably connected to the first sidewall to translate along a longitudinal axis of the first sidewall, the second endwall is slideably connected to the first sidewall to translate along a longitudinal axis of the first sidewall; and
- a second support member spaced apart from the first sidewall by a distance along a dimension of the printed circuit board, the second support member being a second sidewall at least substantially juxtaposed to the first sidewall and attached to at least one of the first and second endwalls, and the second support member projecting away from the platform to define a second support rim spaced apart from the work surface, wherein at least one of the first sidewall and the second support member translates along the dimension of the printed circuit board to support printed circuit boards having different sizes, the second sidewall comprises an elongated first section attached to the first endwall and an elongated second section attached to the second endwall, the second section being slideably connected to the first section to translate along a longitudinal axis of the second sidewall and adjust the length of second sidewall, and wherein the translation of at least one of the first and the second endwalls along the first sidewall moves the first and second sections of the second sidewall with respect to each other to position the first and second endwalls to support printed circuit boards with different dimensions along a dimension between the first and second endwalls.
- 4. A universal fixture for holding a printed circuit board during processing, comprising:
- a platform with a work surface, the platform being adapted to be attached to a work station of printed circuit board processing machine;
- a first wall projecting upwardly from the platform to define a first elongated support rim;
- a second wall projecting upwardly from the platform and extending transversely to the first wall to define a second elongated support rim transverse to the first elongated support rim, the second wall being attached to the first wall;
- a third wall projecting upwardly from the platform and extending transversely to the first wall to define a third elongated support rim transverse to the first elongated support rim, the third wall being spaced apart from the second wall along a common side of the first wall and attached to the first wall;
- a fourth wall projecting upwardly from the platform and spaced apart from the first wall to define a fourth elongated support rim between the second and third walls, at least one of the first and fourth walls being moveable with respect to the other to position the first and fourth elongated support rims to support opposing edge portions of printed circuit boards with different dimensions; and wherein
- the second wall extends between the first and fourth walls, and the second wall comprises an elongated first section attached to the first wall and an elongated second section attached to the fourth wall, the first section of the second wall being slideably connected to the second section of the second wall to provide translation between the first and second sections of the second wall for adjusting the length of the second wall; and
- the third wall extends between the first and fourth walls, and the third wall comprises an elongated first section attached to the first wall and an elongated second section attached to the fourth wall, the first section of the third wall being slideably connected to the second section of the third wall to provide translation between the first and second sections of the third wall for adjusting the length of the third wall.
- 5. The fixture of claim 4 wherein the first section of the second wall is slideably connected to the first wall and the second section of the second wall is slideably connected to the fourth wall, the second wall being translatable along the first and fourth walls to adjust a distance between the second and third walls.
- 6. The fixture of claim 5 wherein the first section of the third wall is slideably connected to the first wall and the second section of the third wall is slideably connected to the fourth wall, the third wall being translatable along the first and fourth walls to adjust a distance between the second and third walls.
- 7. A universal fixture for holding a printed circuit board, comprising:
- a platform with a work surface, the platform being attachable to a work station of printed circuit board processing machine;
- a first support member attached to the platform, the first support member having an elongated first sidewall;
- a second support member having an elongated sidewall spaced apart from the first sidewall by a distance along a dimension of a printed circuit board, at least one of the first and second sidewalls being moveable with respect to the other to adjust the distance between the first sidewall and the second sidewall along the dimension;
- a first endwall extending between the first and second sidewalls at one end of the fixture, the first endwall having an elongated first endwall section attached to the first sidewall and an elongated second endwall section attached to the second sidewall, the first endwall section being slideably connected to the second endwall section to provide translation between the first and second endwall sections for adjusting the length of the first endwall, wherein the first section of the first endwall is slideably connected to the first sidewall and the second section of the first endwall is slideably connected to the second sidewall, the first endwall being translatable along the first and second sidewalls to adjust a distance between the first and second endwalls; and
- a second endwall extending between the first and second sidewalls at another end of the fixture apart from the first endwall, the second endwall having an elongated first endwall section attached to the first sidewall and an elongated second endwall section attached to the second sidewall, the first endwall section being slideably connected to the second endwall section to provide translation between the first and second endwall sections for adjusting the length of the second endwall.
- 8. The fixture of claim 7 wherein the first section of the second endwall is slideably connected to the first sidewall and the second section of the second endwall is slideably connected to the second sidewall, the second endwall being translatable along the first and second sidewalls to adjust the distance between the first and second endwalls.
