Claims
- 1. The method of regulating the growth of plants or regulating plant secretion comprising applying to the plant a growth regulating or secretion regulating effective amount of a compound of the formula: ##STR14## wherein X is chloro or bromo,
- Y is oxygen or sulfur,
- Z is -- (CH.sub.2).sub.m -- CR.sub.5 .dbd.CHR.sub.6 or --(CH.sub.2).sub.m -- C .tbd. C -- R.sub.7, m is O, 1 or 2, and
- R.sub.5, r.sub.6 and R.sub.7 are independently hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkyl, phenyl or phenyl substituted by one or more members selected from the group consisting of fluoro, chloro, bromo, cyano, carboxy, C.sub.2 -C.sub.8 alkoxycarbonyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.8 alkylcarbamoyl, trihaloalkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkylsulphinyl, unsubstituted phenylsulphinyl, phenylsulphinyl substituted by a methyl or ethyl group or two methyl groups, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkylsulphonyl, unsubstituted phenylsulphonyl, phenylsulphonyl substituted by a methyl or ethyl group or two methyl groups, and nitro.
- 2. A method according to claim 1, for stimulating latex flow in latex-forming plants by the application to the plants of an effective amount of the compound.
- 3. A method according to claim 2, in which the latex-forming plants are Hevea brasiliensis.
- 4. A method according to claim 2, in which the compound is applied to latex-forming plants in an amount between 0.2 to 0.8 g per tree.
- 5. The method of claim 1 in which the compound is di-propargyl 2-chloroethanephosphonate.
