Claims
- 1. An upset jacketed bullet, comprising:
- a body generally symmetrical about a central axis having a mushroomed head; and
- a plurality of jacket petals folded back from said body behind said mushroomed head, each of said petals terminating in a generally radially outwardly pointing curved prong extending from a hardened transition region wherein each of said prongs has at least one fillet at said hardened transition region extending between said petal and said prong, said prongs defining a diameter larger than a diameter of said mushroomed head.
- 2. The upset bullet according to claim 1 wherein said jacket has an inside surface coating of an oxide bonding said body to said jacket.
- 3. The upset bullet of claim 2 wherein said jacket also has an outside surface coating of an oxide.
- 4. The upset bullet of claim 3 wherein said inside surface coating and said outside surface coating are copper oxide.
- 5. The bullet of claim 4 wherein the transition region has at least two reinforcing fillets extending between said petal and said prong.
- 6. The upset bullet of claim 1 wherein said petals are generally symmetrical about a central axis.
- 7. The upset bullet of claim 6 wherein said prongs are pointed.

No. 5,101,732).
