Claims
- 1. A method for controlling unwanted growth of plants at a locus which comprises applying to the locus an effective amount of a compound of the formula: ##STR3## wherein R is hydrogen, methyl or ethyl, A is --CH.sub.2 --, --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 -- or --CH.dbd.CH--; R.sup.3 is --OH, --OR.sup.4, or --NH.sub.2 or --NHR.sup.4, wherein R.sup.4 is alkyl of one to six carbon atoms; R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 each is hydrogen, or R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 together are the two bonds of an alkylidene moiety ##STR4##
- 2. A method according to claim 1 in which the compound applied is the species of the formula wherein R, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 each is hydrogen, R.sup.3 is hydroxyl and A is --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --.
