Claims
- 1. A process for augmenting or enhancing the aroma of a solid or liquid anionic, cationic, nonionic or zwitterionic detergent comprising the step of adding to a solid or liquid anionic, cationic, nonionic or zwitterionic detergent base an aroma augmenting or enhancing quantity of a farnesene isomer mixture produced according to the process of dehydrating a nerolidol isomer mixture containing nerolidol isomers defined according to the structures: ##STR54## in the presence of a catalyst selected from the group consisting of potassium acid sulfate and paratoluene sulfonic acid at a temperature in the range of from 110.degree. C. up to 200.degree. C. and at a pressure in the range of from 1 mm/Hg pressure up to 200 atmospheres pressure, absolute.
- 2. The process of claim 1 wherein in the dehydrating process, the dehydration agent is potassium acid sulfate, the process is carried out in the presence of a hydrocarbon mineral oil solvent and the process is carried out at a temperature in the range of from 150.degree. up to 200.degree. C. at from 1 mm/Hg pressure up to 25 mm/Hg pressure.
- 3. The process of claim 1 wherein in the dehydrating process the dehydrating agent is paratoluene sulfonic acid and the reaction temperature ranges from 115.degree. C. at atmospheric pressure, at reflux, up to 200.degree. C. at reflux and the reaction takes place in the presence of a solvent selected from the group consisting of toluene, xylene and a heavy hydrocarbon mineral oil.
