Claims
- 1. A process for augmenting or enhancing the grapefruit aroma or taste of a foodstuff or chewing gum comprising the step of adding to said foodstuff or chewing gum from about 0.1 ppm up to about 50 ppm by weight based on the total weight of said foodstuff or chewing gum of a 2-methyl-4-phenyl-1-pentanol derivative defined according to the structure: ##STR65## wherein R is hydrogen or acetyl.
- 2. The process of claim 1 wherein in the 2-methyl-4-phenyl-1-pentanol derivative R is hydrogen.
- 3. The process of claim 1 wherein in the 2-methyl-4-phenyl-1-pentanol derivative R is acetyl.
- 4. The process of claim 1 wherein the 2-methyl-4-phenyl-1-pentanol derivative is added to a foodstuff.
- 5. The process of claim 1 wherein the 2-methyl-4-phenyl-1-pentanol derivative is added to a chewing gum.
