Claims
- 1. A UV curing device comprising:means for curing UV curable ink arranged above a media flow path, wherein the means for curing is a UV curing module attached to a label applicator.
- 2. The UV curing device of claim 1 wherein the at least one lamp is activated upon a signal from a printer.
- 3. The UV curing device of claim 1 further comprising a photo sensor, wherein the at least one lamp is activated upon a signal from the photo sensor.
- 4. The UV curing device of claim 1 wherein the UV curing module comprises at least one lamp and a power source.
- 5. The UV curing device of claim 4 wherein the UV curing module further comprises at least one filter.
- 6. The UV curing device of claim 4 wherein the UV curing module further comprises a plurality of lamps and at least one activated lamp is selectable from the plurality of lamps to select a wavelength and a light energy.
- 7. The UV curing device of claim 5 wherein the UV curing module further comprises a plurality of filters and at least one filter is selectable from the plurality of filters to select a wavelength and a light energy.
- 8. The UV curing device of claim 4 wherein the at least one lamp is selected from the group consisting of quartz lamp, mercury vapor lamp, pulsed xenon flash lamp and inert gas lamp.
- 9. The UV curing device of claim 4 wherein the UV module further comprises a UV shield.
- 10. The UV curing device of claim 1 wherein a label applicator is an offline applicator.
- 11. the UV curing device of claim 4 wherein the at least one lamp is a pulsed xenon flash lamp.
- 12. The UV curing device of claim 1 wherein the UV curing module further comprises a reflector, said reflector is selected from the group consisting of angled, parabolic and curved and said reflector is made of a material selected from the group of metallic and dichromic materials.
- 13. The UV curing device of claim 4 wherein the at least one lamp and the power source are located remote from the media flow path and light energy is directed from the lamp through a fiber optic cable.
- 14. The UV curing device of claim 10 wherein the label applicator is capable of applying labels from a roll of preprinted labels.
- 15. The UV curing device of claim 4 wherein the UV curing module further comprises a cooling element.
- 16. The UV curing device of claim 15 wherein the cooling element utilizes forced high-velocity air.
- 17. the UV curing device of claim 11 wherein the wavelength of light emitted by the lamp is optimized by a circuit which permits shifted current density.
- 18. The UV curing device of claim 17 wherein the UV module further comprises a photo sensor.
- 19. A The UV curing device of claim 9 wherein the photo sensor is selected from the group consisting of a fluorescent active optical sensor and a filtered diode sensor.
