Claims
- 1. A valve comprising:
a housing defining a passageway between an outlet opening and an inner opening, the housing having a threaded inner wall adapted to mate with a threaded opening of a container; a member connected to the housing, the member being deflectable from a first position to a second position; a stop connected to the member, wherein when the member is in the first position, the stop is in sealing contact with the inner opening to close the inner opening, and when the member is in the second position, the stop is spaced from the inner opening to open the inner opening.
- 2. A valve comprising:
a housing defining a passageway between an outlet opening and an inlet opening for a flowable material to pass therethrough, the housing having an internal wall dividing the passageway into a first chamber and a second chamber, the internal wall having an inner opening communicating the first chamber and the second chamber, the housing having an annular rim, the housing further having an annular skirt having a threaded inner surface adapted to connect to a container having a threaded opening; a diaphragm connected to the annular rim; a stop connected to the diaphragm, the stop passing through the internal opening and having a flange in sealing contact with the inner opening; the diaphragm being deflectable from a first position to a second position, wherein when the deflectable member is in the first position, the stop is in sealing contact with the inner opening to close inner opening, and when the diaphragm member is in the second position, the stop is spaced from the second opening to open the inner opening wherein the flowable material is allowed to pass through the passageway.
- 3. The valve of claim 2 wherein the diaphragm is deflectable from the first position to the second position by a partial vacuum applied to the first chamber.
- 4. The valve of claim 2 wherein the housing has a port member defining the outlet opening.
- 5. The valve of claim 2 further comprising a cap connected to the housing and positioned over the port member.
- 6. The valve of claim 5 wherein the cap is connected to housing by a tamper evident strip.
- 7. The valve of claim 4 wherein the port member has a spout, the spout having an angled configuration.
- 8. A valve comprising:
a port member defining a passageway between an outlet opening and an inlet opening for a flowable material to pass therethrough, the housing having an internal wall dividing the passageway into a first chamber and a second chamber, the internal wall having an inner opening communicating the first chamber and the second chamber, the port member having an annular rim, the annular rim having an aperture being located at an intermediate portion of the passageway, the port member further having an attaching member adapted to attach to a container holding the flowable substance; a diaphragm connected to the annular rim; a stop connected to the diaphragm, the stop passing through the internal opening and having a flange in sealing contact with the inner opening; the diaphragm being deflectable from a first position to a second position, wherein when the deflectable member is in the first position, the stop is in sealing contact with the inner opening to close inner opening, and when the diaphragm member is in the second position, the stop is spaced from the second opening to open the inner opening wherein the flowable material is allowed to pass through the passageway.
- 9. The valve of claim 8 wherein the port member has a central portion wherein a spout and sloped wall extend from a side of the central portion and an annular wall extends from an opposed side of the central portion.
- 10. The valve of claim 9 wherein the sloped wall has an inner rim and a vent opening, the inner rim contacting the diaphragm.
- 11. The valve of claim 8 wherein the port member has an inner groove, wherein a peripheral portion of the internal wall of the base is received by the inner groove.
- 12. The valve of claim 8 wherein the attaching member comprises an annular wall having a threaded inner surface adapted for sealing engagement with a threaded opening of the fluid container holding a carbonated liquid.
- 13. The valve of claim 8 wherein the first chamber has a first portion and a second portion, the first portion being generally transverse to the second portion.
- 14. The valve of claim 8 wherein the flange is in sealing contact with an underside surface of the internal wall to seal the inner opening.
- 15. A valve comprising:
a port member defining a passageway between an outlet opening and an inlet opening for a flowable material to pass therethrough, the port member having a central portion wherein a spout and sloped wall extend from a side of the central portion and an annular wall extends from an opposed side of the central portion, the spout defining a first portion of the passageway, the sloped wall having an inner rim and a vent opening, the central portion having an inner groove, the annular wall having a threaded inner surface adapted for sealing engagement with a threaded opening of a fluid container holding a carbonated liquid; a base defining an annular internal wall and an annular rim extending therefrom, the internal wall having an inner opening and the annular rim having an aperture, a second portion of the passageway being defined between the inner opening and aperture, the second portion being generally transverse to the first portion, the annular internal wall received by the inner groove; a diaphragm connected to the annular rim and engaging the inner rim, a stop connected to the diaphragm, the stop passing through the internal opening and having a flange in sealing contact with an underside surface of the internal wall to seal the inner opening; the diaphragm being deflectable from a first position to a second position, wherein when the deflectable member is in the first position, the stop is in sealing contact with the underside surface of the internal wall to close inner opening, and when the diaphragm member is in the second position, the stop is spaced from the second opening to open the inner opening wherein the carbonated liquid is allowed to pass through inner opening and through the first and second portions of the passageway.
- 16. A flowable material delivery device comprising a first chamber at a first pressure wherein said first chamber defines an outlet in communication with said first chamber, a second chamber at a second pressure greater than said first pressure, and a valve member, indexed against a third pressure wherein the second pressure provides a second force against the valve member, operating to selectively place said first chamber into communication with said second chamber, said valve member operative to connect said second chamber to said first chamber when said first pressure is less than said third pressure in an amount sufficient to overcome the second force.
- 17. A valve comprising:
a housing defining a passageway between an outlet opening and an inner opening, the housing having an internal wall having an inner surface defining the inner opening; a member connected to the housing, the member being deflectable from a first position to a second position; a stop connected to the member, the stop having a frustoconical surface, wherein when the member is in the first position, the frustoconical surface is in sealing contact with the inner surface defining the inner opening to close the inner opening, and when the member is in the second position, the stop is spaced from the inner opening to open the inner opening.
- 18. The valve of claim 16 wherein the inner surface of the internal wall is frustoconical and in sealing engagement with the frustoconical surface of the stop when the stop is in the first position.
- 19. A valve comprising:
a housing defining a passageway between an outlet opening and an inlet opening for a flowable material to pass therethrough, the housing having an internal wall dividing the passageway into a first chamber and a second chamber, the internal wall having an inner opening communicating the first chamber and the second chamber, the housing having an annular rim; a diaphragm connected to the annular rim, the diaphragm having a first diameter; a stop connected to the diaphragm, the stop passing through the internal opening and having a flange in sealing contact with the inner opening, the flange having a second diameter wherein the ratio of the first diameter to the second diameter is approximately 70-1; the diaphragm being deflectable from a first position to a second position, wherein when the deflectable member is in the first position, the stop is in sealing contact with the inner opening to close inner opening, and when the diaphragm member is in the second position, the stop is spaced from the second opening to open the inner opening wherein the flowable material is allowed to pass through the passageway.
- 20. A valve comprising an inlet at a first pressure and a valving member reactive to said first pressure, said valving member operatively connected to a second member sensitive to a second pressure such that said valving member selectively allows a fluid connection between said inlet and an outlet when a differential in pressure is applied to said second member so as to apply a force to said valving member greater than the force applied to said valving member by said first pressure and an orifice associated with said valving member sized as to allow said first pressure to be substantially reduced toward said second pressure upon approaching said outlet.
- 21. A valve comprising:
a housing defining a passageway between an outlet opening and an inlet opening for a flowable material to pass therethrough, the housing having an internal wall dividing the passageway into a first chamber and a second chamber, the internal wall having an inner opening communicating the first chamber and the second chamber, the housing having an annular rim; a diaphragm connected to the annular rim, the diaphragm having a first diameter; a stop connected to the diaphragm, the stop passing through the internal opening and having a portion in sealing contact with the inner opening, the stop having a second diameter wherein the ratio of the first diameter to the second diameter is approximately 6-1; the diaphragm being deflectable from a first position to a second position, wherein when the deflectable member is in the first position, the stop is in sealing contact with the inner opening to close inner opening, and when the diaphragm member is in the second position, the stop is spaced from the second opening to open the inner opening wherein the flowable material is allowed to pass through the passageway.
- 22. A valve comprising:
a housing defining a passageway between an outlet opening and an inlet opening for a flowable material to pass therethrough, the housing having an internal wall dividing the passageway into a first chamber and a second chamber, the internal wall having an inner opening communicating the first chamber and the second chamber, the housing having an annular rim; a diaphragm connected to the annular rim, the diaphragm having a first diameter in the approximate range of 15-25 mm; a stop connected to the diaphragm, the stop passing through the internal opening and having a flange in sealing contact with the inner opening, the flange having a second diameter in the approximate range of 3-5 mm; the diaphragm being deflectable from a first position to a second position, wherein when the deflectable member is in the first position, the stop is in sealing contact with the inner opening to close inner opening, and when the diaphragm member is in the second position, the stop is spaced from the second opening to open the inner opening wherein the flowable material is allowed to pass through the passageway.
