Claims
- 1. A valve comprising:
a housing defining a passageway between an outlet opening and an inner opening, the housing adapted to mate with a fluid container; a member operably associated with the housing, the member being deflectable from a first position to a second position; a stop connected to the member, wherein when the member is in a first position, the stop is in sealing contact with the inner opening to close the inner opening, and when the member is in the second position, the stop is spaced from the inner opening to open the inner opening; and a vent operably associated with the housing.
- 2. The valve of claim 1, wherein the vent further comprises a flexible member.
- 3. The valve of claim 2, wherein the flexible member is attached to the valve and contacts the lip of said container when the valve is fully seated on to the container such that a leak free seal is formed when the pressure acting on an inner surface of the flexible member is greater than the pressure acting on an outer surface of the flexible member.
- 4. The valve of claim 3 and the flexible member flexes to allow air to enter the container when the pressure on the inner surface of the flexible member is less than the pressure on the outer surface of the flexible member.
- 5. The valve of claim 1, wherein the vent comprises a base and arms.
- 6. The valve of claim 5, wherein one arm contacts the valve and one arm is biased to preferably contact a lip of the container when the valve is fully seated onto the container.
- 7. The valve of claim 6, wherein when the valve is attached to the container, an arm of the vent contacts the lip of the container to form a fluid tight seal when the pressure within the container is greater than the pressure outside the container.
- 8. The valve of claim 6 wherein the arm biased to preferably contact the lip moves to allow air to enter the container when the pressure outside of the container is greater than inside the container.
- 9. A valve for accessing a fluid in a container comprising:
a member subject to a first force operative to keep said valve closed, said member being sensitive to an index pressure; an outlet at a second pressure, said index pressure providing a second force in opposition to said first force when a differential between said second pressure and said index pressure is provided to said member, and opening the valve when said second pressure is sufficiently less than the index pressure to overcome the first force; a housing mated with the container; and, a vent operably associated with the housing, and the vent opening when a pressure in the container is less than the index pressure.
- 10. The valve of claim 9 and said member providing the first force.
- 11. The device of claim 9 wherein said second pressure is reducible by applying a suction force to said outlet.
- 12. The device of claim 9 wherein said index pressure is ambient pressure.
- 13. The device of claim 9 wherein said valve closes under action of said second pressure when said index pressure provides said second force to said member of a magnitude less than that of said first force, and wherein said vent closes.
- 14. The device of claim 9 wherein said valve closes under action of said second pressure when said second pressure on said member is substantially equal to said index pressure, and wherein said vent closes.
- 15. The valve of claim 9 wherein the vent further comprises a flexible member.
- 16. The valve of claim 15 wherein the flexible member is attached to the valve and contacts a lip of said container when the valve is fully seated on to the container such that a leak free seal is formed when the vent is closed.
- 17. A valve comprising:
a housing defining a passageway between an outlet opening and an inner opening, the housing mated with a fluid container; a member operably associated with the housing, the member being deflectable from a first position to a second position; a stop connected to the member, wherein when the member is in a first position, the stop is in sealing contact with the inner opening to close the inner opening, and when the member is in the second position, the stop is spaced from the inner opening to open the inner opening; and a vent operably associated with the housing and positioned between the container and the housing.
- 18. The valve of claim 17 and the container contains a carbonated fluid.
- 19. The valve of claim 17 and the container is a rigid container.
- 20. The valve of claim 17 and the container is a semi-rigid container.
- 21. The valve of claim 17 wherein the vent comprises a flexible member sensitive to a pressure differential between an index pressure and a pressure within the container.
