Claims
- 1. A heater well for the remediation of contaminated soil comprising:
- a perforated casing positioned within said contaminated soil;
- heating means positioned within said perforated casing;
- a thermally conductive catalyst bed interposed between said perforated casing and said heating means;
- means for creating a pressure lower than atmospheric pressure within said perforated casing; and
- means for activating said heating means.
- 2. The heater well of claim 1 wherein said heating means comprises electrical heating elements.
- 3. The heater well of claim 1 wherein said means for creating a pressure lower than atmospheric pressure comprises a vacuum pump connected to said perforated casing.
- 4. The heater well of claim 3 which further comprises an impermeable flexible sheet positioned on the surface of said contaminated soil and attached to said perforated casing.
- 5. A heater well for the remediation of contaminated soil comprising:
- a perforated casing positioned within said contaminated soil;
- electrical heating elements positioned within said perforated casing;
- a thermally conductive catalyst bed interposed between said perforated casing and said electrical heating elements;
- a vacuum pump connected to the top of said perforated casing;
- an impermeable flexible sheet positioned on the surface of said contaminated soil and attached to said perforated casing; and
- means for activating said electrical heating elements.
