Claims
- 1. In a subsurface rod pump having a barrel and a plunger for pumping fluid from an oil and gas reservoir, a traveling valve assembly comprising:
- a. a cylindrical valve body having an upper section internally threaded for attachment to the plunger of the rod pump, and having a lower section with an upset end forming an internal radial flange distal from the upper section;
- b. a valve seat, having the shape of a flat disc with a central bore therethrough, chamfered on one face, positioned within said valve body flat against the internal radial flange;
- c. a valve ball positioned within said valve body upon the chamfered bore of said valve seat; and
- d. a ball retainer cage positioned over said valve ball in engagement with said valve seat.
- 2. The traveling valve of claim 1 wherein the traveling valve assembly is attached to the plunger by a connector threaded into the upper section of said valve body.
- 3. In a subsurface rod pump having a barrel and a plunger for pumping fluid from an oil and gas reservoir, the improvement comprising a standing valve assembly which includes:
- a cylindrical valve body having a lower section, said lower section having a counterbore with internal threads, and an upper section having a reduced external diameter and externally threaded for attachment within the barrel below the plunger, said upper section with an upset end forming an internal radial flange distal from the lower section;
- a resilient retainer ring seated against the internal radial flange of the upper section of the valve body;
- a valve cage seated against said resilient retainer ring;
- a valve ball positioned within said valve cage;
- a valve seat abutting said valve cage; and
- a seat retainer threaded into the lower section of said valve body for retaining said valve seat in the upper section of said valve body.
- 4. The standing valve assembly of claim 3 wherein said valve seat is retained in the upper section of the valve body by a seat retainer.
