This application claims the benefit of Korean Patent Application No. 10-2015-0099201, filed on Jul. 13, 2015, which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.
The present disclosure relates to a valve opening/closing device for an engine, and more particularly, to a three-point supported valve opening/closing device.
The statements in this section merely provide background information related to the present disclosure and may not constitute prior art.
Generally, a valve opening/closing device is a device which makes a lever motion by rotation of a cam to open or close an intake valve or an exhaust valve by the lever motion.
A hydraulic lash adjuster (HLA) may be coupled to the valve opening/closing device. The hydraulic lash adjuster is a device for making a valve lifter to move in close contact with the cam, and is also called “valve gap control device”.
In case that intake valves or exhaust valves are disposed at one cylinder by two, one valve opening/closing device, one hydraulic lash adjuster, and one cam may be required for each intake valve or each exhaust valve.
However, the cost of an engine may be increased and it may be complex to supply hydraulic pressure to the hydraulic lash adjuster if one intake valve or one exhaust valve requires one valve opening/closing device, one hydraulic lash adjuster, and one cam.
The above information disclosed in this Background section is only for enhancement of understanding of the present disclosure and it may contain information that is not already known to a person of ordinary skill in the art.
The present disclosure provides a valve opening/closing device for an engine having advantages of opening/closing two valves by rotation of one cam.
In addition, the present disclosure provides a valve opening/closing device for an engine having further advantages of applying one hydraulic lash adjuster and easily supplying hydraulic pressure.
A valve opening/closing device for an engine according to an embodiment of the present disclosure may make a lever motion by rotation of a cam so as to open or close valves. The valve opening/closing device may include: a body portion to which a valve gap control device is mounted and an axis of a lever motion is positioned; an extended portion extended from the body portion toward the valve; and two valve contact portions respectively protruded to both sides from the extended portion so as to function to push the two valves.
The valve opening/closing device for an engine may be supported on three points by one valve gap control device and two valves.
The valve opening/closing device for an engine may further include a connecting portion formed to connect the two valve contact portions with each other.
Both ends of the connecting portion may be bent toward an upper direction so as to be connected with the valve contact portions.
The two valve contact portions and the connecting portion are formed in flat.
The valve opening/closing device for an engine may further include blocking protrusions protruded toward each lower direction from the valve contact portions which are respectively protruded to the both sides.
Further areas of applicability will become apparent from the description provided herein. It should be understood that the description and specific examples are intended for purposes of illustration only and are not intended to limit the scope of the present disclosure.
In order that the disclosure may be well understood, there will now be described various forms thereof, given by way of example, reference being made to the accompanying drawings, in which:
The drawings described herein are for illustration purposes only and are not intended to limit the scope of the present disclosure in any way.
The following description is merely exemplary in nature and is not intended to limit the present disclosure, application, or uses. It should be understood that throughout the drawings, corresponding reference numerals indicate like or corresponding parts and features.

The body portion 10 is a body of the valve opening/closing device 1 that an axis of a lever motion of the valve opening/closing device 1 is positioned thereto. In addition, the valve gap control device 40 is coupled to a lower side of the body portion 10. Further, a seating portion 15 is formed at the body portion 10 such that the valve gap control device 40 is seated thereon.
The extended portion 12 is formed to be extended toward the valve 30 from the body portion 10.
The valve contact portion 14 is formed at an end of the extended portion 12 which is extended from the body portion 10. In addition, the valve contact portion 14 is a part which pushes the valve 30 to be opened in accordance with a lever motion of the valve opening/closing device 1. Further, the valve contact portions 14 are respectively protruded to both sides from the end of the extended portion 12 so as to function to respectively push two valves 30. That is, the two valve contact portions 14 are formed.
The connecting portion 16 is formed on the end of the extended portion 12 so as to connect the two valve contact portions 14 with each other. As the connecting portion 16 is formed, it can be prevented that the extended portion 12 and the valve contact portion 14 are twisted or the two valve contact portions 14 are estranged from each other.
The bent portion 17 is bent toward an upper direction from both ends of the connecting portion 16 so as to be connected with the valve contact portion 14. As the bent portion 17 is formed, strength of the connecting portion 16 and the valve contact portion 14 can be improved.
The blocking protrusion 18 is protruded toward each lower direction from each end of the valve contact portions 14 protruded to the both sides. That is, the valve 30 is connected with the valve contact portion 14 between the bent portion 17 and the blocking protrusion 18. In addition, the bent portion 17 and the blocking protrusion 18 prevents that the valve opening/closing device 1 escapes from the valve 30 and suppresses movement of the valve opening/closing device 1.
The roller 20 is provided at the extended portion 12 so as to get a rolling-contact to the cam. In addition, the roller 20 is rotatably coupled with the extended portion 12 by a roller pivot shaft 25. Herein, a part that the valve opening/closing device 1 is contacted to the cam by the valve gap control device 40 is a contact point between the roller 20 and the cam. Meanwhile, the roller 20 may be substituted to a sliding pad which is integrally formed with the extended portion 12.
In this specification, up and down directions to separate an upper side and a lower side are determined with respect to directions that the cam is disposed at an upper side of the valve opening/closing device 1 and the valve 30 is disposed at a lower side of the valve opening/closing device 1.
Meanwhile, height difference between the valves 30 may be compensated by a design that a ramp height of the cam is increased when height of contact points, that the two valves 30 are contacted to the each valve contact portion 14, are different. The compensation about height difference between valves 30 can be realized as a shim is interposed between the valve 30 and the valve contact portion 14 depending on a design.

The structure of a valve opening/closing device 2 has simple composition and reduced cost to compare with a valve opening/closing device 1 of the present disclosure. In addition, the valve opening/closing device 2 has profitableness by applying to an engine requiring small strength.
The number of the cams and the rollers 20 which are required may be decreased and production cost may be reduced as two valves 30 are driven by rotation of one cam. Further, the number of the hydraulic lash adjusters 40 which are required may be decreased and it may become simple that hydraulic pressure is supplied to the hydraulic lash adjuster 40. Furthermore, weight of an engine may become small and fuel consumption may be improved as the number of the cam, the roller 20, and the valve gap control device 40 are decreased.
While this present disclosure has been described in connection with what is presently considered to be practical embodiments, it is to be understood that the present disclosure is not limited to the disclosed embodiments, but, on the contrary, is intended to cover various modifications and equivalent arrangements included within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
